Summary: A message about being the crown of God's creation. We must choose life.

Crown of God’s Creation

Genesis 1:26-31 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." (27) So God created man in Hisown image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (28) Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." (29) And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. (30) Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food"; and it was so. (31) Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Man was the crown of God’s creation. We find that God took special care in creating man.

1. Personally formed by God – trinity Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are a triune being Body, soul and mind. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind.

2. Man in the image of God – We were made perfect.

3. God Breathed life. Personal care. Breathing Spirit into us. The Spirit as the wind. This was separates us from the animals.

Ephesians 4:24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

Dominion over all.

Psalms 8:1-9 For the director of music. For gittith. A psalm of David. LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in the whole earth! You have made your glory higher than the heavens. (2) You have made sure that children and infants praise you. You have done it because of your enemies. You have done it to put a stop to their talk. (3) I think about the heavens. I think about what your fingers have created. I think about the moon and stars that you have set in place. (4) What is a human being that you think about him? What is a son of man that you take care of him? (5) You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings. You placed on him a crown of glory and honor. (6) You made human beings the rulers over all that your hands have created. You put everything under their control. (7) They rule over all flocks and herds and over the wild animals. (8) They rule over the birds of the air and over the fish in the ocean. They rule over everything that swims in the oceans. (9) LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in the whole earth!

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Psalms 139:1-14 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. O LORD, You have searched me and known me. (2) You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. (3) You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. (4) For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. (5) You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. (6) Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. (7) Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? (8) If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. (9) If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, (10) Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. (11) If I say, "Surely the darkness shall fall on me," Even the night shall be light about me; (12) Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You. (13) For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. (14) I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

God still knows us and has a personal part in each of our creation. It is God who breaths life into each soul. This is why life is so important. Surely as we will see sin has corrupted the flesh but the Spirit is what connects us to God.

The Fall – Adam and Eve

Genesis 3:1-7 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?" (2) And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; (3) but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.' " (4) Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. (5) For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." (6) So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. (7) Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

Everything was perfect until man gave into temptation. It all began with:

Fall begins

Questioning God – Did God say?

Questioning God’s word. Questioning God’s will. Questioning God’s plan and purpose. This is where it all begins. It will lead people to question the very existence of God Himself.

Misquoting God – God said don’t eat or touch. The limitations. When we feel like we “can’t do something”.

Giving into temptation – So it was not just the thought. If it would have stopped there but action.

Feeling as if God is keeping us from something – This is how people look at God. As if He is holding something back.

1 John_2:16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

Results of the Fall

Sin Lurking at the Door – Cain and Able

Cain was jealous of his brother because God accepted the sacrifice of Abel but did not praise the sacrifice of Cain. He was jealous which led to envy.

Genesis 4:6-7 So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? (7) If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it."

It festers in there. Cain made a rash decision. God warned. Him. As the Holy Spirit warns us today. He convicts us. Yet Cain chose to give into the temptation.

Many people today the Holy Spirit is warning. He is saying stop. You know this is not good. This will lead to no good.

Conclusion – Choose Life

We have a choice. This came from being created in God’s image. God will not force anything on us but He gives us a choice.

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Luke 19:10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
