Today we finish the Book of Exodus. God gave instructions on how to relate with Him, especially the celebration of that relationship with worship. As this Book of Exodus ends, we note a Spiritual Revival and the Israelites did everything God called them to do! So let us open our Bibles to Exodus 40 and not.e the result of that Spiritual Revival with the Israelites.
I asked Janet Hansen to read for us this morning….. Exodus 40 is on page….
v1-11: God told Moses to set up the Tabernacle (Tent of Meeting) and everything around and in it. God called for Anointing everything to consecrate and make holy!
v12-16: The Priests (servants for the Lord) were dressed, anointed and consecrated.
v17-33: Moses and the priests did everything God told them to do in detail!
v34-36: The GLORY of the Lord was present for all Israel to see!
God gave the sign for when Israel was to move! v35b…..
Here are the questions we should consider today:
What is the glory of the Lord? What does it look like? How does it happen? Do we desire to experience it in our lives?
Remember how we are to answer questions in Scripture? Always let Scripture answer Scripture!
And so, from Exodus 40, in general, what would you say is the Glory of the Lord and what did it look like??
From Exodus 40, the glory of the Lord was God’s magnificent presence personally experienced by people!
How did the glory of the Lord come about in Exodus 40??
From Exodus 40, the glory of the Lord came about after the people did everything God told them to do (v33-34….)!
And does anyone remember how many times we saw the glory of the Lord in the Book of Exodus? – Some of your Bibles may have a concordance and you can see that the Glory of Lord occurred at least 2 other times in the Book of Exodus, not just the end chapter.
Exodus 16:7-10…. Why did it happen and what was the glory of the Lord like??
Exodus 24:3-4,16-17…. Why did it happen and what was the glory of the Lord like??
And so in summary from the Book of Exodus,
The glory of the Lord was God’s magnificent presence personally experienced by people as a result of complete obedience or when God calls for people’s attention!
Now because of Jesus Christ, the Glory of the Lord is available today to all. The problem, even for us who say we believe in Jesus Christ, is that we do not acknowledge God’s Glory everyday!
Do we desire to experience the Glory of God in our lives? What should we be doing??
If God calls people’s attention with His glorious appearance, we should always look for the Glory of God happening in our midst because He may be trying to get our attention!
We must always do what God tells us!
In preparation for Communion, turn with me to 1 Corinthians 11:23-32…
Why do Communion??
What should we do before Communion??
Take a moment ponder about these things and prepare your hearts for Communion….
