DO WE HAVE A BLACK HOLE WHERE ARE HEARTS SHOULD BE?
ARE WE SPIRITUALLY EMPTY BECAUSE WE ARE SO FULL OF THE WORLD’S STUFF?
Can we define our REAL PURPOSE? What do we really value? Are we IDLE!
THROW ALL THE EMPTY BUCKETS YOU SO DESIRE DOWN IN THE WELL, BUT IF THE WELL IS EMPTY, AFTER ALL YOUR EFFORTS TO DRAW FROM THE EMPTY WELL WILL STILL LEAVE YOU with an EMPTY…DRY WELLS AND BROKEN CISTERNS.
THE BLACK HOLE OF A BROKEN CISTERN…
Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Jeremiah 2:13 (MSG) "My people have committed a compound sin: they've walked out on me, the fountain Of fresh flowing waters, and then dug cisterns— cisterns that leak, cisterns that are no better than sieves.
DID YOU KNOW IN THE BIBLE EMPTY CISTERNS WERE OFTEN USED AS PRISONS…???
FEW WILL BE HONEST ENOUGH TO SHARE WITH YOU THAT WE LIVE IN A FADING WORLD --- NOT A FILLING WORLD… Everything I know is draining… The sharp things get dull. Hot things cool. Cold things get lukewarm.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Matthew 6:33 (MSG) Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. 34 "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED HOW EASY IT IS TO KNOW YOU HAVE A BLACK HOLE IN YOUR HEART AND FILL IT WITH GARBAGE AND JUNK?
Romans 1:22 (NLT) Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25 They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
It appears that every Individual has a HOLE IN THEIR HEART. We try to FILL THAT EMPTY HOLE with many things.
We know many have a CO-DEPENDENT HOLE where they think they can never be happy unless they have something or someone to fill their hole in their heart.
THE LOTTERY UNDERSTANDS THE HOLE IN THE HEART THEORY… as people think I COULD BE HAPPY IF I HAD A BILLION DOLLARS? So they SELL the little they have for the HOPE OF FILLING THEIR HEART’S HOLE with money.
Others search to fill empty hearts with relationships. They look for a person that can love them and give them that filling for their hole of emptiness. Broken hearts, divorce, pornography, affairs. Today many search on the computer. Have you ever seen an old lady falls in love with a man on the computer and sends them multiple thousands of dollars and cars, just to find they have made the hole even emptier?
How many people have a big hole in their heart turn to FOOD? Several years ago tobacco was the #1 public enemy. Today OBESITY IS THE #1 HEALTH ENEMY. Be honest people are addicted to sugar and fast foods. Obesity means the more we eat the more we desire? Then we run across the term MORBID OBESITY. We are short of breath, our knees and backs, diabetes, feet issues, heart issues. So we recognize the eating hole and what do we do? We spend millions on diet foods, diet pills, weight lose gimmicks… when we are filling the holes in our hearts with food?
We try to fill the holes with entertainment. Watch the people today, sports has become a god. People screaming on the sidelines that should be active doing something. We have the Super bowl, World Series, and many other things. I heard a national preacher say one of the biggest enemies of the church today is TRAVEL TEAMS, that that take good families out of the church 13 weekends a year. What about the movies, TV, computer addiction. Entertainment addictions put pleasure before God?
How about EDUCATION TO FILL THE HOLES? Education is good, but we need a return to common sense. Seems we are learning more and more about less and less until we know everything about nothing. Education is good but seems the more we know the larger the hole in our hearts grow.
How many millions a year are spend on drugs, prescription and illegal drugs? We have so many that demand legalization of feel good drugs they think will fill their emptiness. Many doctors just write more and more prescriptions.
People turn to alcohol, marijuana, pain pills… not to mention the street drugs. We have a drug problem right in the middle of the church.
The political system in this country is so sick. If you think the USA is in trouble look around the world.
One more area I must address is THE NATIONAL DEBT and PERSONAL DEBT that will crush the individual and the USA.
WE HAVE TO HAVE WHAT WE WANT NOW… Rental companies charging 20 times the value of the items. Check cashing businesses with rates that cripple families. Loan companies and banks making millions but breaking the backs. The more money we borrow the LARGER THE HEART’S HOLE GROWS. Do not buy things unless you pay cash!
LET US COME TO ONE OF THE REAL ISSUES OF SPIRITUAL BLACK HOLES SIN IS HIDDEN IN SOME DARK ROOM IN YOUR HEART.
THERE IS A BLACK HOLE IN THE HUMAN HEART… A VACUUM THAT ONLY GOD CAN FILL.
WHERE IS INNER PEACE TODAY? WHY DO WE HAVE MORE THAN WE EVER HAD --- BUT THERE IS LITTLE PEACE AND LESS HAPPINESS?
WE TEND TO OPERATE ON EMPTY OR NEAR EMPTY… They were all virgins, 5 were empty… their sin was being UNPREPARED…
Matthew 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Why do rich people commit suicide? Why do movie stars turn to drugs? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE REACHED THE PINNACLE OF SUCCESS TO FIND NOTHING IS THERE?
THE VOID OF THE BLACK HOLE OF EMPTINESS IS MORE THAN EXTERNALS --- IT IS INTERNAL ISSUES.
WE ARE TRYING TO EXPERIENCE GOD ON HUMAN TERMS… BECAUSE OF THIS ATTITUDE WE FIND THE HEART OF EMPTINESS HOLE GROWS LARGER DAILY. WE CAN ONLY EXPERIENCE GOD ON HIS TERMS. AS LONG AS WE SEEK TO FILL THE HOLE BY HUMAN MEANS THE SPIRIT OF EMPITNESS WILL GROW AND THRIVE.
THERE GROWS AN INTERNAL VOID THAT WE TRY TO FIX BY EXTERNAL ISSUES. PERHAPS THIS IS WHAT WE MIGHT CALL A BLACK HOLE… WE HATE THE FILLING OF EMPTINESS.
EMPTINESS BREEDS HATRED, LUST, LAZINESS, WEAKNESS, OR AN ATTITUDE I AM STUCK IN THIS BLACK HOLE.
Matthew 12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Matthew 12:44 (MSG) it says, 'I'll go back to my old haunt.' On return it finds the person spotlessly clean, but vacant.
THIS BLACK HOLE OF THE HOLE IN YOUR HEART MAKES US FEEL LONELY AND HOPELESS. Fear, worry, bitterness and anger grow from the feeling of EMPTINESS. This empty feeling is a part of daily life but we cannot dwell there.
THE KEY TO OVERCOMING THE BLACK HOLE IS TO STAY FULL… EMPTY IS DANGEROUS.
Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
1 John 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
SELF EXAMINATION… CAN YOU IDENTIFY A BLACK HOLE IN YOUR HEART? ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO EXPOSE TE REAL ISSUES WE FACE.
1 Corinthians 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup
Is your PASSION buried in a black hole?
Are you near COMPASSION burn out?
We need a REFRESHING FROM THE LORD…
THE BLACK HOLE COULD BE FROM A LACK OF FAITHFULNESS, BIBLE STUDY, PRAYER AND MEDITATION…
THIS EMPTINESS IS AN INVITATION OF GOD SAY: DO YOU REALLY TRUST ME? COME CLOSER.
Habakkuk 3:17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
CONCLUSION: I read the story about OPRAH WINFREY problem with her weight. At one time Oprah was near 300 pounds. Then Oprah’s eyes were opened as she examined herself. Oprah came to a conclusion: That food was the way she filled the black hole in her heart. She said: “FOR ME, FOOD WAS A COMFORT PLEASURE, LOVE, A FRIEND, EVERYTHING. I CONSCIOUSLY WORKED EVERY DAY AT NOT LETTING FOOD BE A SUBSTITUDE FOR MY EMOTIONS.”
Oprah said: “When I was sad, lonely and feeling empty, eating is one way we try to fill our void.”
May I add every person faces the giant of the black hole in our heart? We will fill that void with something. God is the only healthy and wise choice to try to satisfy the black hole in our heart. We can try to substitute relationships, sin, drugs, sex, pornography, education, materialism to fill our emptiness. Jesus gives us the invitation to COME UNTO HIM. Jesus fills the void, the hole, the black hole that sucks the light and life out of us. MAY WE COME TO THE POINT THAT WE IDENTIFY THE SPIRITUAL BLACK HOLES OF EMPTINESS AND PLACE GOD ON HIS THRONE?
