Summary: Let us study trust? We trust tires, batteries, and elevators, why not try trusting God. You may want to walk on water to feed your ego, but maybe God says: TRUST MY PLAN.

DO WE REALLY TRUST GOD?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

I have been in the full pastoral ministry 37 years. I know what it means to abound, I have also learned about being abased. There have been days when I thought I heard a 747 flying over my head and I looked up to see the belly of a coach roach crawling over me... Success has always eluded me. I am not even for sure how to define success?

Sometime back I heard a still small voice whispering to my spirit: DO YOU TRUST ME? (God). I said sure I do! I finished praying. The next day I heard the same thing: DO YOU TRUST ME? Several days in a row I heard those words over and over: DO YOU TRUST ME? I guess I felt like Peter when Jesus said: PETER, DO YOU LOVE ME? Peter was irritated after the third time. So I started looking: GOD, I GUESS I TRUST YOU WHEN I CAN SEE A SOLUTION, MAYBE I DON’T TRUST YOU LIKE I SHOULD WHEN THE COCK ROACH’S BELLY SEEMS TO BE SMOTHERING ME?

But one thing I have learned IN 37 YEARS OF FULL TIME MINISTRY…

2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

HAVE YOU HEARD THE STORY IN NORTHERN MICHIGAN OF THE LAKE THAT WAS FROZEN? A man from the south was visiting and his car broke down on the road next to the frozen ice of the lake. The man looked around him and he saw some lights about a mile away across the lake. So he decided that was the closest way to find help. So the man put on his heavy coat and gloves and got down on his hands and knees to crawl across the ice. He was so afraid at any time the ice would break and he would drown. As he was crawling across the frozen ice it was a slow go. He felt he might freeze to death as he was crawling across the ice. After a while four horses pulling a family and loaded with wood went driving over the ice? The horses and the owner knew they were safe on the frozen ice. The man felt so stupid, if this ice could hold 4 horses and a loaded wagon, he was very safe to walk to the little store across the lake.

Have you ever crawled in doubt to find you were very secure in your situation?

TEXT: Matthew 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I PLACE A CHAIR IN FRONT OF THE GROUP? I KEEP ASKING MYSELF, DO I THINK THAT CHAIR WILL HOLD ME? Look at the chair in doubt and fear, no it will never hold me, I am a big man? Finally I sit down and trust the chair.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HAVE TRUST? Do we trust God? Do we trust his word?

Is it possible to really love someone and not trust them? Is it possible to trust someone that does not love you?

You must feel safe physically, emotionally and spiritually? You have to think one is reliable? You must have confidence?

Is it possible to trust someone that lies?

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?

Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Psalm 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Trust might mean laying down all your dreams at the foot of the cross?

Trials may knock us down? We may stumble and then fall .

Psalm 37:24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

Have you ever needed a mountain to be moved, and you prayed and looked out the window to see the big mountain is still there? When I have more questions than I have answers? When my friends seem to have deaf ears and love eludes me?

Have you ever grown so weary in the battle that you were crying for rest and peace? (TRUST)

Have you ever been in the storm and your little boat has been tossed to and fro? (TRUST) Then you prayed Lord let me walk on the water? (TRUST) That would sure improve my ego to walk on the water? (TRUST) Sometimes seems God choses to be silent and the mountains refuse to move and the water refuses to part and the storm will not be calmed. (TRUST) Then what will we do? (TRUST)

GOD SEEMS TO SPEAK: MY CHILD WILL YOU TRUST ME TODAY? WILL YOU TRUST MY PLAN? WILL YOU TRUST ME WHEN YOU CAN’T SEE ME? WILL YOU TRUST ME WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL GOOD ABOUT IT?

Isaiah 43:2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

TRUST:

Firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone or something, confidence, belief, faith, certain, assurance, reliable, hope, expect,

Do we love enough to believe that someone will not harm you?

IS THERE A BIBLE MEANING TO TRUST? A bold confidence with sure security, A reliance or resting of your body, soul and mind, a place where you can put your confidence, --- I will commit this to your care, confident,

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD IF YOU HAVE YOURSELF FOR A LAWYER YOU HAVE A FOOL FOR A LAWYER?

Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

NEVER FORGET:

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

HARD SHOES TO FILL? This job is too hard for me? I can’t?

Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

WE TEND TO LEAN TO THE VISIBLE WHEN WE TRUST…

Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

FEAR IS A TYPE OF DOUBT…

Psalm 56:3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

TRUST WORKS IN THE LIONS DEN…

Daniel 6:23 Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

Where is my trust?

Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

A CHECKS VALUE DEPENDS UPON THE DEPOSITS MADE…

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

CONCLUSION: My friend will we must know there is truth in trust when we trust the truth! There is great trust in wisdom, and there is great wisdom in trust! Trust the fact that GOD IS GOD AND THE BIBLE IS GOD’S WORD. Lord, teach me to number my days and TRUST IN YOU AND YOUR PLAN.
