GEHANNA, THE BOOERANG OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK.

Luke 9:25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
Luke 9:25 (NLT) And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?
THERE WAS A PLACE IN THE VALLEY OF HINNOM ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF JERUSALEM WHERE PEOPLE WOULD DO HUMAN SACRIFICE.
In the New Testament it became the place where cities, towns and individuals would burn their garbage.
This place became known as HELL, or in Greek it was known as GEHENNA.
THIS IS A TYPE OF THE PLACE OF THE FINAL JUDGMENT FOR THOSE THAT REJECT THE PLAN OF GOD AND REFUSE TO ACCEPT JESUS AS SAVIOR.
Hell is a place where those that have accepted ETERNAL and SPIRITUAL trash and garbage as acceptable and the norm.
I saw this week where some churches are flying the “rainbow” flag to tell the community they accept the alternative life style.
Beware of the choices we make with our HAND or FEET or EYE…
Jesus said: Matthew 18:8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. 9 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
The hand speaks of: WHAT WE DO…
The feet speak of: WHERE YOU GO…
The eyes speak of: WHAT YOU DESIRE, LUST AFTER…
HELL IS THE GARBAGE CAN OF THE RESULTS OF OUR ACTIONS, WORDS, DEEDS AND THOUGHT PROCESSES.
IS IT POSSIBLE WE COULD BE MISSING OUT ON OUR OPPORTUNITY BY EXERTING LITTLE TO NO EFFORT?
1 Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Disqualified?
There was a county that had a huge problem with so much garbage they could not handle all of it. The landfill looked at and bought the biggest bulldozer in the world D575A. It is 16 feet long, 25 feet wide, 41 feet high.
It weighs around 225,000 pounds. This huge bulldozer is made to move soil/ dirt. The dozer was purchased to dig a huge hole to bury garbage as it was collected from the people.
PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE TO BE TRASH, GARBAGE OR THE GARBAGE TRUCK FOR OTHERS.
The cross was a place where God dug a hole big enough to collect the sins of humanity from the past, present and future. This sin carried with it the wrath of God, and Jesus Christ said: I will take the sins of the world on myself and heal the brokenness of fallen humanity.
Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
THE BOOMERANG OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK IS EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL… WE TRY TO FIX THE OUTSIDE AND REFUSE TO SEE THE INTERNAL ISSUES THAT ARE CAUSING THE EXTERNAL PROBLEMS.

THE BOOMERANG OF GARBAGE TRUCK? DRIVE AROUND AND PICK UP GARBAGE. GOOD? LITTLE DREAMS AND NO VISION CAN BE VERY COSTLY IN THE LONG RUN!

THE BOOMERANG OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK OF LIFE CAN BE A TERRIBLE ENEMY!
CAIN NEVER APPLIED HIS BEST EFFORT… QUE SERA! QUE SERA! WHAT WILL BE WILL BE… ?
Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
THE COST OF LAZY DRIFTING CAN BE EXPENSIVE…

THE BOOMERANG IS COSTLY, CAIN WAS ANGRY AT GOD, AND AT HIS BROTHER BECAUSE OF HIS OWN ACTIONS AND GIVING LEFTOVERS.
Genesis 4:6 (MSG) GOD spoke to Cain: "Why this tantrum? Why the sulking? 7 If you do well, won't you be accepted? And if you don't do well, sin is lying in wait for you, ready to pounce; it's out to get you, you've got to master it."

CAIN’S PERSONAL GIVING, HIS LACK OF GIVING THE BEST, HIS THINKING PATTERNS AND ATTITUDES DICTATED HIS MOODS AND EMOTIONS.
We must quit saying: WHY, GOD, WHY?
We must quit: BLAMING OTHERS FOR OUR TANTRUMS, ANGER AND WRATH?
IF YOU DO WELL YOU WILL FIND GOD AND GODLY CONTENTMENT.

2 Kings 2 records this journey for GOD TO MAKE ELISHA A WORTHY SERVANT AND A MAN OF GOD.
*1 GILGAL
THE JOURNEY BEGINS IN GILGAL, Gilgal means rolling stone. ABRAHAM BUILT HIS FIRST ALTAR AT GILGAL on his journey. SAMUEL begins his journey to re-establish JUSTICE and SACRIFICES at Gilgal as the two sons of ELI had lost the ARK OF THE COVENANT. Gilgal was one of the first stops on the journey from Egypt to the Promise Land. They did the FIRST PASSOVER SERVICE HERE. THEY PLACED 12 MEMORIAL STONES AT GILGAL. The stones came out of the Jordan River where they crossed.
*2 BETHEL: The house of prayer, learning, devotions.
*3 JERICHO: Jericho means sweet fragrance, PRAISE and Worship.
*4 JORDON: The Jordon River is a type, DEATH, SELF SACRIFICE, GIVING, BROKEN AND POURED OUT.
After Elijah takes ELISHA on this journey, THE IS A WONDERFUL CHANGE.
THE DOUBLE PORTION OF GOD. It is so wonderful to become what God has planned.
2 Kings 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
GOD SAW THE JOURNEY AND EFFORT OF ELIJAH AND ELISHA, THEIR LOVE OF THE SERVICE OF GOD IS APPARENT.
*ELISHA – ELIJAH -- GEHAZI
GOD HAD A PLAN: ELIJAH, ELISHA AND THEN GEHAZI. GEHAZI! YOU DA MAN! NEXT! NEXT?
SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN NOT FOLLOW THE LEADER. THEY WOULD RATHER DO THEIR OWN THINGS AND GO TO THEIR OWN PLACES AND PICK UP THE GARBAGE OF OTHERS. GARBAGE AFTER A WHILE WILL ALWAYS STINK.
Gehazi means valley of vision.
GEHAZI BECAME A GARBAGE TRUCK CARRYING A LOAD
Gehazi is known for his FORKED TONGUE, DOUBLE MINDEDNESS and DISHONESTY OF CONDUCT --- FACING TERRIBLE DOOM BECAUSE HIS WORDS AND ACTIONS WERE DISCEPTIVE
2 Kings 5:20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him. 21 So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well? 22 And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. 23 And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him. 24 And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed. 25 But he went in, and stood before his master. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

TELL ME THE GREAT THINGS THAT ELISHA HATH DONE.
NOT ME I TOOK GARBAGE, MY FAMILY SHALL LIVE IN IN GARBAGE …
2 Kings 8:4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done. 5 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.
HOW SAD GEHAZI PICKED UP SOME GARBAGE THAT WILL REAP TERRIBLE DIVIDENDS.
IT IS EVEN SADDER THAT THE GARBAGE GEHAZI PICKED UP WOULD AFFECT AND EFFECT THE GENERATIONS TO COME.
WHY CAN’T WE SEE HOW OUR BOOMERANG GARBAGE WILL BECOME THE LIFE STYLE AND THINKING PATTERNS OF OURSELVES AND OF OTHERS?
CONCLUSION: Many dream of bigger and better at NO COST and NO EXTRA EFFORT. We have allowed the LOTTERY MENTALITY TO THRIVE, get rich quick with no work and no blisters. We are in great danger because we refuse to acknowledge what goes around, comes around. YES, GEHAZI HAD SOME FANCY CLOTHES AND A LOT OF MONEY, BUT NEVER FORGET HIS ATTITUDES DETERMINED HIS ALTITUDE. Gehazi lied to the preacher and thought he had hide his deeds from God.
WANT TO SEE THE BOOMERANG OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK?
DAVID HEARS THE STORY OF THE RICH MAN TAKING THE POOR MAN’S PET LAMB AND KILLING IT FOR OTHERS TO EAT.
IN GREAT ANGER DAVID PRONOUNCES HIS OWN JUDGMENT… 4 TIMES OVER…
