Summary: Elijah jump to the conclusion he was the only one serving God. Not so, one city had 7,000 faithful. When we focus on the obstacles we tend to lose sight of the goal. Pull together...

ONE IS A LONELY NUMBER! THE POWER OF SYNERGISM!

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

I WAS AT DIARY QUEEN looking at a bunch of bananas? Study them?

While the bananas all together they are safe. WHEN A BANANA GETS BROKEN AWAY FROM THE BUNCH IT IS IN GREAT DANGER OF BEING SKINNED AND BECOME A BANANA SPLIT...

TEXT:

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (KJV) And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (MSG) By yourself you're unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn't easily snapped.

*SYNERGISM... The total effect is greater than the sum totals of the individuals.

*HARMONY... The combination of different notes, played together, making a pleasing sound.

Different things coming together

*UNITY... The state of being in full agreement..

LOOK AT DAVID: He had harmony as Priest, Prophet and King.

WHEN WE COME TOGETHER WE HAVE THE TENDANCY OF FOCUSING ON THE NEGATIVE.

SHAME ON US... BRAG ON SOMEONE. TELL A POSITIVE TRAIT IN SOME INDIVIDUALS AROUND YOU...

THERE IS GREAT POWER IN AGREEMENT--- THE INVERSE IS TRUTH: THERE IS POWER IN DISAGREEING...

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE TWO OR THREE WITNESS FOR A TRIAL.

The body, soul and spirit.

The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit, the water and the blood.

As kids we sang this song: LET US PULL TOGETHER, TOGETHER, TOGETHER. LET US ALL PULL TOGETHER, HOW HAPPY WILL BE. FOR YOUR WORK IS MY WORK, AND MY WORK IS YOUR WORK. SO LET US ALL PULL TOGETHER, HOW HAPPY WE WILL BE...

IS IT POSSIBLE TO LOVE GOD AND BE SO NEGATIVE AND FAULT-FINDING THAT WE THINK ... I DON'T NEED YOU?

NO PERSON IS AN ISLAND TO HIMSELF...

Matthew 5:25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

ENEAVOR: To seriously or continually try to do... to achieve, reach.

Ephesians 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

WHAT IS LOVE? DO YOU REALLY LOVE?

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (MSG) If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. 2 If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. 3 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love. 4 Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, Doesn't have a swelled head, 5 Doesn't force itself on others, Isn't always "me first," Doesn't fly off the handle, Doesn't keep score of the sins of others, 6 Doesn't revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, 7 Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. 8 Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. 9 We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. 10 But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled. 11 When I was an infant at my mother's breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.

12 We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! 13 But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.

WHAT IS LOVE? DO I REALLY LOVE? ARE WE MARRIED BY THE JUSTICE OF PEACE OR BY THE SECRETARY OF WAR?

THEY COULD NOT SPEAK PEACABLY TO EACH OTHER...

I UNDERSTAND THAT A COUPLE HAD BEEN MARRIED MANY YEARS?

Genesis 37:4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

Genesis 37:4 (MSG) When his brothers realized that their father loved him more than them, they grew to hate him—they wouldn't even speak to him.

WHAT IS REAL LOVE?

The wife had been watching a talk show on TV that made some suggestions on how to improve their relationship.

The show suggested that when they were mad at each other and they were arguing and fussing that they should grab several pieces of paper and pencils and write down exactly their emotions and how they felt. The wife thought this might improve their time together.

So the wife explained what she had seen on TV and thought they might should try this. He agreed. So, they sat down at the table facing each other and began writing. The husband began writing, he would pause and look up at her and write some more. He would write and look at her.

She wrote half a page and laid her pencil down. He just kept writing. He finished his page and she was so glad. Then he just turned the page over and write some more. Each line, he would stop and look at her and then write some more. He just kept writing and writing. She was finished and 30 minutes later he was still writing.

Finally he laid down his pencil and they exchanged pieces of paper. He quickly read what she had written. It was very mean and bitter. The wife wrote cutting her husband down to size. The wife had written painful and bitter moments. He just looked at her with tears in his eyes.

Now it was her turn to read what her husband wrote. In anger she grabbed the paper and began reading. His first line was honey, I love you and I would not want to live life without you. The second line was: I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU. He wrote sometimes I get angry at you for which I am sorry, but I truly love you. Then he wrote: THANK YOU FOR KEEPING THE HOUSE NEAT AND CLEAN. I LOVE YOU. Then his words said: I probably don't tell you like I should, but you are the best cook I know and I appreciate that, I LOVE YOU! He wrote there are times I get so angry with you, but I have never wanted to hurt you. I am sorry, I LOVE YOU. He penned the words: You have been a great mother and grandmother to our family. I am grateful for that. I LOVE YOU FOR BEING A GOOD MOOTHER TO MY CHILDREN. Honey, you were so good to my Mom and Dad while they were living, I LOVE YOU. I thank God for all the years we have had together, I LOVE YOU. Sure I get hurt from time to time. Sometimes I have had a bad day at work and I am not feeling well and I probably snap and say some mean things. BUT I HOPE YOU WILL ALWAYS UNDERSTAND: I LOVE YOU DEARLY.

The wife was crying when she finished reading HIS LOVE STORY. She wished she had not written the mean, cutting remarks that he had read. Her page was filled with bitterness, pain and un-forgiveness.

1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

1 Peter 4:8 (NIV) Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 4:8 (MSG) Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything.

1 Peter 4:8 (NLT) Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.

HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED AT THE OBSTACLES UNTIL YOU LOSE SIGHT OF THE GOAL?

YOU EVER FELT SO ALONE AND BE IN A CROWD? WHY?

LIFE IS ABOUT YOUR CHOICES... YOU CAN DO THE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE DONE IN A BAD SPIRIT OR WITH BAD ATTITUDES AND DEFEAT ALL YOUR EFFORTS TO ATTAIN.

WHEN YOUR FAMILY LIFE BECOMES CUMBERED... TROUBLED, HARASS, HINDERED, NO JOY...

MARTHA FELT LIKE SHE WAS WORKING ALL ALONE...

Luke 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

WE CAN MAKE THE CHOICE TO BE CUMBERED, OR FIND JOY AND PEACE ... YOU ARE NEVER ALONE. REFUSE TO FEEL ALONE...

Luke 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

LORD, I AM THE ONLY ONE SERVING YOU? THIS IS A TERRIBLE ATTITUDE...

Romans 11:3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

CONCLUSION: You are not alone. There are many others. We are a team. We must agree and pull together.

Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Maybe we will never as individuals become stars? Maybe we will never be extraordinary, wonderful, awlsome and or great. But we can be on a great team working together for the Cross.
