STATE OF MIND? I DO NOT MATTER? WHAT I DO DOES NOT MATTER?
OFTEN WE ALLOW OUR EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS TO DEFINE THE STATE OF MIND...
OR MIND SET PATTERN THAT WE
State of mind: perspective, outlook, approach, mood, disposition, frame of mind, mind set,
THE WAY YOU LOOK AT THINGS...
Biblically we must ESTABLISH A PATTERN OR APPROACH THAT PLEASES GOD.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,
think on these things.
***1. TRUE. 2. HONEST. 3. JUST. 4. PURE. 5. LOVELY. 6. GOOD REPORT. 7. VIRTUE.
8. PRAISE --- THINK ON THESE...
WHAT IS YOUR STATE OF MIND? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? THINKING?
WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT DOING?
PEOPLE NEVER PLAN TO FAIL...
THEY FAIL TO PLAN... BECOME TRAPPED --- DOOMED---
THE SEED PLANNED --- VS THE SEED IN THE GLASS JAR.
1 Timothy 5:13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not
only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
LORD, I KNEW YOU HAD A PLAN FOR ME---
I JUST WANTED TO DRIFT DOWN WITH THE CURRENT...
Matthew 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that
thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not straw ed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thin.
I KNEW BETTER THAN TO DO NOTHING...
I WAS AFRAID?
I WAS NOT ACCOUNTABLE?
WHAT IS MY STATE OF MIND? WHAT MUST I DO?
I WILL BURY MY TALENT AND DO NOTHING...
FOR SOME REASON JESUS FELT COMPELLED TO BE BAPTIZED...
Matthew 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and com est thou to me?
NOT ONLY DID JESUS SET THE EXAMPLE, HE EXPECTS ALL BELIEVERS TO
BE BAPTIZED IN WATER...
WHAT IS OUR STATE OF MIND THAT THINKS WE DO NOT NEED TO BE BAPTIZED...???
THERE IS AN AXE...
Luke 3:7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of
vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy
of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have the Abraham to our father: for I say
unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 9 And now also
the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringer not forth good fruit
is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name
of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
TODAY THERE IS A COMPROMISE SPIRIT THAT TEACHES CERTAIN SPIRITUAL THINGS
ARE OPTIONAL... We tend to re-define truth by our opinions and thought patterns...
THE BIBLE TEACHES EVERY BELIEVER SHOULD BE BAPTIZED IN WATER...
THE STATE OF MIND TODAY IS GOD IS LOVE, HE UNDERSTANDS...
Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also
before my Father which is in heaven.
Luke 12:8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the
Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringer forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringer forth
death. 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
OUR STATE OF MIND TENDS TO ACCEPT AND BE SEEKER FRIENDLY AND WE
CONDONE AND ACCEPT SIN AS THE NORM... GOD UNDERSTANDS?
Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, aitch the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death
of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil
ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
God's LAW and RULES are clear...
WE MUST CHANGE...
MY STATE OF MIND RE-DEFINES GOD'S WORDS...
WE DESIRE A CIRCUS ATMOSPHERE AND LET SOMEONE CALL ME OUT...
THE ONLY WAY MANY WILL COME TO PRAYER IS IF I AM CALLED OUT...
MAN'S PLAN: I DO NOTHING....???
GOD HAS A PLAN --- THAT REQUIRES AN EFFORT AND EXPRESSION OF FAITH FROM
YOUR ACTIONS...
James 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and
the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
OUR STATE OF MIND RE-DEFINES PRIORITIES --- WHAT IS THE MAIN THING?
WHAT USED TO BE THE MAIN THING? WHAT HAS CHANGED? OUR STATE OF MIND?
STATS USED TO SAY 1,500 PREACHERS QUIT A MONTH?
NOW THE CURRENT STATS SUGGEST 1750 LEAVE THE MINISTRY.
76 churches a day close... in USA... WHY?
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you.
WE ALMOST LAUGH AT THE CHURCH BACK DOOR...
65% OF CHURCHES ARE IN PLATUEU OR DECLINE? WHY?
2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except
there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
WE CAN NOT DEFINE GOD MEANS THIS... BY OUR STATE OF MIND?
1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
YOU ARE A MENTOR AND MODEL --- WHAT ARE YOUR CHILDREN? FRIENDS SAY
YOU DEFINE AS IMPORTANT?
Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Colossi 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you,
and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual
understanding;
Luke 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier
than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with
the Holy Ghost and with fire:
John 1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there stander one among you,
whom ye know not;
John 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me,
Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which
baptize with the Holy Ghost.
CAN WE AGREE THAT HURT, DEPRESSION, HEAVINESS, FRUSTRATION IS A STATE
OF MIND...???
You can not see discouragement? It has no physical characteristics. It has no form, no shape.
Discouragement can happen on a dark, rainy day... But it can show it's mean face on a
bright, cloudless day!
WE ALL TEND TO WEAR MASKS AND TRY TO HIDE OUR EMOTIONS. Maybe there are
times we have disguise the pain in our hearts? Then maybe there are times in anger and
hurt that we cruelly express the discouragement and dig a deeper grave...
THE STATE OF MIND...
DAVID WAS ANOINTED BY SAMUEL... THE CALL OF GOD WAS UPON HIM...
DAVID JOURNEYED FROM THE GREAT VICTORY OVER GOLIATH TO GREATER
AND GREATER VICTORIES...
David was so blessed, but one day David topped the hill going home and they saw the smoke
from miles away. Where is the victorious feeling now.
David had never known THIS STATE OF MIND...
EVERYTHING WAS GONE... IT WAS ALL LOST...
EVEN DAVID'S SUPPORT TEAM FOUND THE STATE OF MIND OF DEPRESSION?
WHERE ARE YOU GOD?
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOUR SUPPORT STRUCTURE IS DEPRESSED?
1 Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people sake of stoning him, because
the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David
encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
DAVID'S LESSON WAS CLEAR, STAND UP AND TAKE COURAGE...
DO WE ALLOW THE CIRCUMSTANCES TO SET OUR THINKING PATTERN? MIND SET?
IN DISCOURAGEMENT WE MUST FIND THE PRESENCE OF GOD, THE WORD OF GOD,
AND THE MAN OF GOD...
1 Samuel 30:7 And David said to Blather the priest, Aimee's son, I pray thee, bring me hither
the ephods. And Blather brought thither the ephods to David. 8 And David enquired at the LORD,
saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue:
for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
DAVID HAD 600 MEN, AND MANY OF THEM WERE SO TIRED AND EXHAUSTED AND
DEPRESSED, THEY COULD NOT GO FORWARD...
THEY STAYED BY THE BROOK BESOR.
1 Samuel 30:10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind,
which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Bedsore.
THERE IS VICTORY AFTER DEFEAT, DISCOURAGEMENT... YOU CAN RECOVER ALL....
WE HAVE TO SET OUR HEARTS AND MINDS TO GOD'S ETERNAL VALUE SYSTEM...
1 Samuel 30:18 And David recovered all that the Analects had carried away: and David rescued
his two wives.
CONCLUSION: WE HAVE TO COME TO KEEP INTO VIEW THE ETERNAL VALUE.
YOU DO NOT DEFINE GOD... SET YOUR MIND ABOVE THIS GARBAGE CAN OF
DAILY LIFE.
