BROKEN --- FRACTURED --- BE A HOPE GIVER...
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com
WE HAVE BEEN CALLED TO REACH THE BROKEN-FRACTURE INDIVIDUALS AND BRING
THE ANOINTING OF HOPE AND DELIVERANCE ... EVEN IN DIFFICULT TIMES...
BE A HOPE GIVER.
Deuteronomy 28:23 (KJV) And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth
that is under thee shall be iron.
Deuteronomy 28:23 (NLT) The skies above will be as unyielding as bronze, and the earth
beneath will be as hard as iron.
Deuteronomy 28:23 (MSG) The sky over your head will become an iron roof, the ground under
your feet, a slab of concrete.
BRASS is an alloy of copper and zinc...
Brass was used as fetters... JESUS HAS A PLAN TO BREAK THE FETTERS...
Judges 16:21 (KJV) But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to
Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.
2 Kings 25:7 (KJV) And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of
Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.
BRASS IS A SYMBOL OF INSENSIBILITY AND OBSTINACY.
BRASS WAS ALSO USED AS A SYMBOL OF STRENGTH...
CAN WE REMEMBER BRASS ITEMS IN THE BIBLE?
BRASS WAS USED AS A CURE...
The people had been complaining and griping about everything.
Moses got tired of hearing their constant bickering and backbiting.
GOD WAS ANGRY WITH THE UNGRATEFUL PEOPLE AND SENT POISONS SNAKES TO
BITE AND KILL THE COMPLAINERS...
Numbers 21:4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land
of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. 5 And the people
spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the
wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people
of Israel died. 7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken
against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us.
And Moses prayed for the people. 8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and
set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it,
shall live. 9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a
serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
A BRASS SERPANT WAS MADE AND LIFTED HIGH ON A POLE...
THE SNAKE BITE WAS PUNISHMENT FOR MURMURING AGAINST MOSES AND GOD!
IF ANY PERSON BITEN AND DYING WOULD LOOK TOWARDS THE BRONZE SERPANT THEY
HAD THE ANTEDOTE FOR THE POISON?
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WAS THERE PEOPLE TO STUBBOORN TO LOOK TOWARDS
THE BRONZE SERPANT?
THE BLESSINGS AND THE CRES BECAME A SINFUL TRAP...
THE ISRAELI PEOPLE KEPT THE SERPANT AND CARRIED IT AROUND WITH THEM.
THE BRASS SERPANT WAS A DISTORTION AND A DISTRACTION... THEY LOST FOCUS
ON WHAT WAS REALLY IMPORTANT.
OBSTACLES ARE WHAT WE SEE WHEN WE LOSE SIGHT OF THE GOAL.
Through out the history of the Jews they carried the brass snake --- IT WAS TO REMIND THEM
OF THE DANGER OF COMPLAINING...
OVER TIME THEY FELL IN LOVE WITH THE COMPLAINING HABIT...
WE LAST SEE THE BRASS SERPANT IN THE TIME Of HEZEKIAH...
HEZEKIAH CLEANED HOUSE...
ABOUT 1,000 YEARS LATER... SPIRITUAL INFATUATION
THE BRONZE SNAKE BECAME AN ISSUE OF GREAT CONTEMPT
THEY NAMED THE SNAKE: NEHUSHTAN ---
GOD'S PEOPLE STARTED BURNING INCENSE TO THE SNAKE AND MADE IT AN IDOL
THERE IS A GREAT DANGER WHEN WE PRAISE PRAISE, AND WORSHIP WORSHIP...
2 Kings 18:2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and
nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.
3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.
4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces
the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to
it: and he called it Nehushtan. 5 He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like
him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. 6 For he clave to the LORD, and
departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
*** NAHUSTAN... That which was holy and becomes a spiritual trap that loses focus on what is really
important...
**WHAT BREAKS THE SPIRIT? HAVE WE EVER CONSIDERED THE SYMPTONS OF A BROKEN SPIRIT?
**1. THE LACK OF REST --- A SPIRITUAL TIREDNESS
**2. HEAVY STRESS ---
**3. THE FAMILY AND LIFE BECOMES A HAVE TO --- DO I HAVE TO DO THIS...
**4. A JUDGMENTAL SPIRIT --- FINDING FAULTS ---
**5. SEE THE NEGATIVE IN EVERYTHING --- NEGATIVE WORDS
**6. ALWAYS HURT AND OFFENDED --- NEVER ABLE TO FORGIVE---
**7. CHURCH ATTENDANCE IS NOT FAITHFUL---
**8. ALWAYS FOCUSED ON THE PROBLEMS --- NOT THIS OBSTACLE IS MY OPPORTUNITY.
**9. NEVER COME APART WITH GOD, SO ALWAYS COMING APART EMOTIONALLY.
**10. NO GOALS, NO DIRECTION DRIFT HERE AND THERE.
**11. ALWAYS BLAMING OTHERS.
**12. WRONG PRIORITIES.
JUST BECAUSE MAN TENDS TO REDUCE HOLY THINGS TO EMOTIONAL HIGHS, DOES NOT
HINDER THE EFFECTIVENESS OF REAL HOLINESS...
JESUS REFERS TO THE BRASS SNAKE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT...
John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted
up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
JESUS KNEW THERE WAS A TIME TO CLOSE THE BOOK AND SET DOWN AND TRUST.
WE MUST KNOW WE ARE CALLED TO REACH TO THE BROKEN...
The Jewish synagogue was a wonderful place to go hear teachings and find the heart of God.
There was a highly valued jar that had the scroll of written word of God.
There were benches of stone on all 4 sides.
In part of the area was a SEAT RESERVED FOR THE MESSIAH...
IT WAS CALLED THE MESSIAH CHAIR.
NO ONE EVER NEARED THE MESSIAH CHAIR...
SOME DAY THE MESSIAH WOULD COME AND SIT IN HIS CHAIR AND FOREVER RULE.
There was in the center an area where the speaker would stand, he would read a portion of the
Scripture and then teach.
When the speaker would finished teaching he would sit down.
Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went
into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him
the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he
hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to
the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them
that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21. And he began to say unto them, This day is this
scripture fulfilled in your ears. 22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which
proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son? 23 And he said unto them, Ye will
surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum,
do also here in thy country. 24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up
three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; 26 But unto none of them was
Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. 27 And many lepers were
in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
WHY WERE THEY SO ANGRY? Jesus sat in the MESSIAH CHAIR, thus declaring the anointing.
We must PREACH, heal the broken, preach deliverance...
WE MUST TRUST GOD'S SPIRIT AND GO AND GET THE BROKEN, FRACTURED...
Psalm 147:3 (KJV) He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach
good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the
captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Ezekiel 34:16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will
bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and
the strong; I will feed them with judgment.
CONCLUSION:
WE MAY BE BROKEN-FRACTURED AND SPILLED OUT BUT GOD HAS A PLAN...
Isaiah 40:29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait
upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and
not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
COME IN THE ANOINTING, GET POWER. SPEAK GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY. BIND
THE BROKEN, SPEAK DELIVERANCE, BREAK THE BRASS FETTERS.
