WHAT KIND OF DAY WILL I MAKE THIS DAY?
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com
LISTEN? WHAT DO YOU HEAR?
The other day my wife corrected me for something she heard me say.
My wife and I were discussing the movie: WAR ROOM.
I DID NOT SAY WHAT SHE HEARD... What I said was not near what she heard?
SOMETIMES BEFORE WE GET ANGRY WE SHOULD SAY:
WOULD YOU BE KIND ENOUGH TO REPEAT WHAT YOU SAID...
BEFORE WE JUMP ON THEM.
ARE YOU LISTENING?
WE OFTEN DON'T LISTEN BECAUSE WE DO NOT WANT TO HEAR?
I HEAR PEOPLE SAY WHAT GOD SAID, AND I THINK GOD WOULD NEVER
SPEAK AGAINST HIS OWN WORDS?
TEXT:
Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this
day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were
on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell:
but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Each day you wake up YOU WILL DECIDE WHAT YOU WILL DO WITH THIS DAY.
Yesterday is gone and can never be recalled, it is set in concrete.
Tomorrow may never be. But you have today, CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY...
What kind of plan will you make?
YOU CHOOSE? YOUR CHOICES WILL CONTROL THE OUT GOING AND IN
COMING
120 years ago there was a family moving from Georgetown to Johnstown.
A new opportunity farming was before them. So they loaded up their
covered wagon, hitched up the horses, said farewell and away they went.
The journey from Georgetown to Johnstown was a long journey by horse and
wagon. They they traveled from early morning until near sunset.
They asked a farmer permission to spend the night on his land.
They set their gear up and the farmer asked them if they would eat with
his family. They struck up a friendship and the kids played together and
the adults visited. The family really appreciated the farmers kindness.
They said: THIS IS THE BEST MEAL WE HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME.
The Father and Mother asked the farmer:
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE PEOPLE ARE LIKE IN JOHNSTOWN?
The farmer replied: WHAT WERE THE PEOPLE IN GEORGETOWN LIKE?
The young man answered: THEY WERE WONDERFUL.
OUR PASTOR WAS A MIGHTY MAN OF GOD.
WE LOVED OUR CHURCH AND NEIGHBORS. WE HATE TO MOVE AWAY.
Then the family said: WELL, YOU WILL FIND THE PEOPLE IN JOHNSTOWN
ARE WONDERFUL AND SWEET AND YOU WILL FIND A GREAT LIFE FOR
YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN JOHNSTOWN.
A few days later, the farmer was sitting on his porch and a man climbed
down from his wagon and sought permission for them to camp on his
farm. The farmer told them they were welcome to stay, and he invited them
to eat with them. The family set up their sleeping gear under the wagon.
And approached the farm house. The man told his wife, THESE PEOPLE
THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN US. I CAN SMELL BURNT BISCUITS!
They sat down at the table and the man complained they didn't like fried
chicken. The farmer inquired: WHERE YOU FROM? WHERE YOU GOING?
The visitor said: MY ARE YOU NOSEY?
The man went on to say: WE ARE MOVING FROM FROM JOHNSTOWN TO
GEAORETOWN.
As the were discussing the move, the traveler had a question: HAVE YOU HEARD
WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE ARE IN GEORGETOWN.
The farmer inquired, WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE WERE THEY IN JOHNSTOWN.
The man raised his voice and said: THEY WERE MEANING. EVERYONE MADE
FUN OF MY KIDS. WE DID NOT GO TO CHURCH THEY WERE ALL HYPOCRITS.
MY NEIGHBORS MADE UP LIES ON OUR FAMILY. WE HATED EVERYONE.
WE COULD NOT WAIT TO LEAVE THAT DUMB O' TOWN.
The farmer replied to the traveler: YOU WILL FIND PEOPLE IN GEORGETOWN
TO BE MEAN HYPOCRITS.
The traveler looked at his wife and said: I KNEW IT, I JUST GUESSED THAT
GEORGETOWN PEOPLE WERE ULGY AND MEAN. WHEN WE GET SETTLED
IN AND THINK WE SHALL LOOK FOR A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE THAN
GEORGETOWN...
ARE WE LISTENING? EYES CAN SEE DIFFERENTLY...
I DO NOT ALWAYS AGREE WITH MYSELF?
I have two sons. They are as different as night and day.
They are both serve as Police Officers.
There are three officers on the force with our last name: HUGHES.
One is black, two white.
Someone told the Chief that my sons were brothers.
He known them sometime and said: I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU!
Well, they are, raised by the same mom and dad in the same house.
HOW WILL I CHOOSE TO SEE THESE PROBLEMS?
MISERY US A CHOICE...
JOB WAS HAVING A DIFFICULT SEASON, HE WENT FROM A BLESSED
LEADER TO NOTHING...
Job learned life is:
10% WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU, 90% HOW YOU HANDLE WHAT HAPPENS
TO YOU... LIFE IS ABOUT YOUR DAILY CHOICES...
HAS YOUR OPINION EVER CAUSED YOUR LIPS TO SIN?
Job had terrible sores and pus oozing out of the infected boils.
Painful scabs covered him.
He took a broken piece of pottery and scraped the festering pus off him.
EVERYBODY KNOWS BOILS ARE A CURSE OF JUDGMENT FROM
A DISOBEDIENT EGUPTAIN NATION.
CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY...
Sister Job saw all the problems and CAME TO THE CONCLUSION:
Job 2:9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity?
curse God, and die.
SING THE SONG OF JOB'S WIFE:
GLOOM, DESPAIR AND AGONY ON END, DEEP DARK DEPRESSION,
EXCESSIVE MISERY, IF IT WEREN'T FOR BAD LUCK I'VE HAVE NO
LUCK AT ALL --- GLOOM DESPAIR AND AGONY ON ME?
Sister Job had every right to her opinion...
HER OPINION WAS INVALID...
MR. JOB SAYS...
Job 2:10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women
speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not
receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
JOB REFUSED TO ACCEPT HIS WIFE'S ADVICE. I REFUSE TO WALLOW
IN THIS MISERY...
NOTICE: Job does not call Sister Job a FOOLISH WOMAN, he chose wiser
words: HONEY, IT IS ABOUT CHOICES.
THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU SAID, SHALL WE ACCEPT GOOD FROM GOD,
AND NOT TROUBLE.
SUFFERING IS A GREAT TOOL GOD USES TO MOLD HIS PEOPLE.
I SHALL FIND HOPE --- GOOD COMES OUT OF BAD...
WHILE JOB SCRAPED AWAY PUS HE CONTINUED TO REFUSE
MISERY AND COMPLAIN...
Today we hear of murder rates, suicide rates, a call for EUTHANASIA...
MAKE THE CHOICE: Have nothing to do with misery and gloom.
MY FRIEND, JOB TEACHES US: DARK MAY BE THE NIGHT...
BUT ---
Psalm 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping
may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Psalm 30:5 (NLT) For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Psalm 30:5 (MSG) He gets angry once in a while, but across a lifetime there is only
love. The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter.
SURE, YOU CAN BE LIKE JOB'S WIFE AND HIS FRIENDS AND BE
JUDGMENTAL A CRITICAL...
DO WE LOOK AT THE ATTITUDES AND WORDS THAT DOMIANT OUR
DAILY WALKS?
WE MUST EVALUATE OUR CHOICES AND OUR JOY...
We tend to value materialism more than the ETERNAL?
2 Corinthians 4:18 (KJV) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the
things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things
which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18 (MSG) There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we
see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last
forever.
WE ARE MASTERFULLY DESIGNED ---
WILL WE MAKE THE CHOICE TO MAKE A PITSTOP...
WHY DO RACE CARS MAKE PIT STOPS?
Stay out on the race track get the lead... ???
but those that pit stop get new tires, make adjustments, and fill up
to finish the race...
John 15:11 (KJV) These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you,
and that your joy might be full.
John 16:24 (KJV) Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive,
that your joy may be full.
LIFE IS NOT ABOUT THE NUMBER OF BREATHS YOU TAKE ---
LIFE IS ABOUT THE MOMENTS THAT TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY!
John 16:24 (NLT) You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive,
and you will have abundant joy.
1 John 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
UNDERSTAND GOD'S DESIGN AND PURPOSE OF TODAY...
IT IS YOUR CHOICE WHAT YOU WILL DO WITH TODAY...
DOES YOUR PLAN AND GOD'S ALIGN...
Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
CONCLUSION: Each day you wake up YOU WILL DECIDE WHAT YOU WILL DO
WITH THIS DAY. Yesterday is gone and can never be recalled, it is set in concrete.
Tomorrow may never be. But you have today, CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY...
What kind of plan will you make?
I have no plan you say? No plan is a plan?
ACCIDENTS ARE NOT USUALLY A GOOD WAY TO MEET PEOPLE.
YOU ARE BUILDING YOUR LIFE ONE DAY AT A TIME...
YOU BECOME THE SUM TOTAL OF YOUR DAILY CHOICES...
CHOOSE YOUR MOOD WISELY!
PLAN AHEAD MY FRIEND... IF YOU WANT FRUIT TODAY?
FRUIT TREES DO NOT BEAR FRUIT THE FIRST SEASON,
I AM TOLD AN APPLE TREE NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 7 YEARS OLD...
Let us not grow weary...
Galatians 6:5 For every man shall bear his own burden.
6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the
Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
