Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have
set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both
thou and thy seed may live:
A MAN WAS PREPARING TO GO TO THE ELECTRIC CHAIR TO PAY HIS DEBT
FOR THE CRIMES HE HAD DONE. A Reporter asked him if he had a statement.
He turned and said: I AM WHAT AM BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT I CHOSE TO BE!
WE BECOME THE SUM TOTAL OF OF MENIAL DAILY CHOICES...
YOU MAKE CHOICES AND DECISIONS DAILY? HOURLY?
When will I get up? WHAT KIND OF MOOD WILL I TAKE THIS DAY?
What will I eat? How much will I eat?What will I spend my MONEY?
WHERE WILL I SPEND MY TIME? Who will be my friends?
NEVER ALLOW BITTER, ANGRY PEOPLE TO HELP YOU MAKE YOUR CHOICES...
HERIODIAS HATED THE PREACHER BECAUSE SHE HATED HIS MESSAGE...
HER BITTER CHOICES HELP MAKE BITTER CHOICES...
John the Baptist preached strongly against sin...
He told people sin was sin... he told the King sin was sin...
Mark 6:22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased
Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever
thou wilt, and I will give it thee. 23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me,
I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom. 24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother,
What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou
give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
THIS BEAUTIFUL YOUNG GIRL MADE A TERRIBLE CHOICE...
1. She could have had anything
2. She listened to A BITTER, ANGRY WOMAN...
Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom
ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the
flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house,
we will serve the LORD.
ARE YOU MAKING BAD CHOICES? ARE YOU MAKING GOOD CHOICES...
YOU COULD MAKE THE CHOICE TO BE LOVING AND KIND?
YOU COULD MAKE THE DECISION TO CAUSE CONFLICT, COMPLAINING,
FUSSING ---
OR YOU CAN FOCUS TO MAKE THE CHOICE TO NOT MAKE THE CHOICE ---
THAT IS A CHOICE... WHAT ARE YOUR CHOICES FUELING...
WHAT IS THE CHOICE OF YOUR WORDS? BEHAVIOR? THOUGHT PATTERNS?
YOU CAN CHOOSE TO WORRY AND FRET...
YOU CAN CHOOSE TO HAVE FAITH AND TRUST GOD?
FOCUS ON YOUR VISION --- ???
Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law,
happy is he.
YOUR FOCUS AND YOUR CHOICES WILL DETERMINE WHOSE REPORT WILL
YOU BELIEVE? CHOICE WILL DETERMINE HOW WE SEE OURSELVES...
Numbers 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at
once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. 31 But the men that went up
with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
Numbers 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants:
and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
DAVID DIES AND SOLOMON BECOMES THE KING...
SOLOMON DIES AND HIS SON, REHOBOAM BECOMES THE KING...
REHOBOAM KNEW LIFE IS ABOUT CHOICES...
Rehoboam had a great advantage about making GOOD CHOICES.
Rehoboam had the COUNSEL OF HIS DAD'S OLD WISE MEN...
REHOBAM HAD SEVERAL CHOICES TO MAKE THAT WOULD SET THE TONE
OF HIS KINGDOM AND PERSONAL LIFE...
So he consulted SOME WISE, EXPERIENCED MEN...
1 Kings 12:6 And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before
Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer
this people?
MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE SON...
THE WISE OLD MEN GAVE SOLOMON SUPER ADVICE...
GOOD CHOICES AND DECISIONS FOLLOW WISDOM?
REHOBOAM HAD CHOICES TO MAKE --- HE LISTENED...
NOW IT IS ABOUT LIFE CHOICES...
1 Kings 12:7 And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people
this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then
they will be thy servants for ever.
SECOND OPINION? I DO NOT LIKE WHAT YOU SAID...
LIFE IS ABOUT YOUR DAILY CHOICES AND DECISIONS...
I DO NOT LIKE WHAT YOU SAY---
1 Kings 12:8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and
consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
I DO NOT THE OLD WAY, I WANT THINGS MY WAY...
MY CHOICES ARE MINE TO MAKE... QUE SERA, SERA ---
1 Kings 12:10 And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying,
Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our
yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little
finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.
I WILL MAKE MY CHOICE TO PLEASE THE FLESH...
1 Kings 12:13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's
counsel that they gave him;
REHOBOAM'S CHOICE WILL BE VERY COSTLY...
THE GREAT NATION OF ISREAL WILL BE DIVIDED AND NEVER BE THE SAME
AGAIN...
WHERE ARE YOU FOCUSING? WHAT KIND OF CHOICES ARE YOU MAKING?
THE ARMY OF ISREAL FOCUSED ON THE GIANT ---
DAVID'S FRESH VIEW WAS ON THE GOD THAT CAN...

CHOICES AND DECISIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES...
HOW OFTEN DO YOU EVALUATE YOUR CHOICES?
DO YOU SELF DISCIPLINE YOUR BAD DECISIONS?
DO YOU MAKE CREATIVE USE OF CONFLICT?
ARE YOU TROUBLED ABOUT MANY THINGS LIKE MARTHA?
OR DO YOU CHOOSE THE GOOD PART...
