Ruth 1-4
PROPOSITION: Because Christ is your Kinsman-Redeemer, you must forsake your pagan ways and demonstrate loyal love to Him.
I. Loyal love puts the needs of others first and thus experiences the blessing of God. 1:6-22a
A. Ruth is widowed and needed a kinsman-redeemer.
B. Ruth practices loyal love toward Naomi.
II. Loyal works at meeting the needs of others and thus experiences the blessing of God. 1:22b-2:23
A. Ruth goes out to work in the harvest field
B. Boaz shows kindness to Ruth.
C. Ruth shows kindness to Naomi.
III. Loyal love honors authority trusting God and thus experiences the blessing of God. 3:1-18
A. Ruth honors Naomi’s plan.
B. Boaz responds by trusting God.
C. Boaz provides for Ruth and Naomi.
IV. Loyal love commits to the responsibility of caring for others and thus experiences the blessing of God. 4:1-12
A. Boaz clears the way to be Ruth’s kinsman-redeemer.
B. Boaz commits to caring for others.
V. Loyal love requires a life long commitment and then experiences a greater blessing from God. 4:13-22
A. God takes an empty person and makes them “full”.
B. Man tries to find “fullness” outside of God.
