ACTIVATE THE WORD OF GOD!

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged
sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
I. LET US CONSIDER AND PONDER 3 WORDS:
1. Value 2. Price 3. Worth
A. What is the price of a 1931 Ford? Of your TV? Of your family?
B. What is the value of a DAY? a minute?
WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO US?
II. THERE IS POWER IN THE WORD OF GOD, WE MUST LEARN TO ACTIVATE GOD'S
PLAN. DAVID LEARNED THE VALUE OF THE WORD OF GOD...
Psalm 119:10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from
thy commandments. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
12 Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes. 13 With my lips have I declared all the
judgments of thy mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in
all riches. 15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. 16 I will delight
myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
III. WE MUST DEFINE THE VALUE, WORTH OF THE WORD OF GOD
TO US AS INDIVIDUALS AND COLLECTIVELY.
A. I am so strong, I can never fail?
The brook will go dry if flow is hindered...
B. 5 FOOLISH VIRGIN'S SIN WAS RUNNING OUT OF OIL?
1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
C. Read the Bible DAILY, consistantly, earnestly
D. AS INDIVIDUALS WE LEARN THAT TALK CAN BE CHEAP...
1. We can have A VALUE SYSTEM:
a. What we say is important
b. What we do, OUR PRIORITIES.
c. Where we spend our MONEY? our TIME?
E. ANEMIC or WEAK in God's word...
ANEMIC and WEAK in the FAITH and real priorities?
IV. THE BIBLE IS MUCH MORE THAN A BOOK ---
THE BIBLE DOES MORE THAN JUST CONTAIN THE WORD OF GOD,
THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD.
THE WORD OF GOD DOES THE WORK OF GOD...
Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures,
nor the power of God.
Why does our Nation, Society, Families develop wrongful and sin loving games?
The world's VALUE and PRIORITY SYSTEMS are based on PLEASURE and BEING HAPPY...
We LOSE SIGHT OF ETERNITY?
WHILE MEN USED THEIR PENS THE BIBLE TEACHES THE SCRIPTURES ARE GIVEN
BY THE INSPIRATION OF GOD. The Holy Spirit inspired word for word.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
THE BIBLE IS GOD'S WORDS TO US.
THE BIBLE IS AN ABSOLUTE MIRACLE FAR ABOVE THE PEN OF MEN...
2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake
as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
1. The HARMONY and unity of the Bible is the results of God's miracle power.
2. The Bible contains 66 BOOKS.
3. There are over 35 different AUTHORS, WRITERS.
4. From Genesis to Revelations cover a time period of around 1,500 years.
5. Some of the writers were very educated, some were UNEDUCATED PEOPLE.
6. God chose the hands to place the pen in many different walks of life.
Some were: FARMERS, KINGS, FISHERMEN, RELIGIOUS LEADERS, GOVERNMENT
OFFICALS, TEACHERS, DOCTORS.
7. These 35 writers of the 66 books wrote of HISTORY, SCIENCE, DRAMA, POETRY,
PROPHECY, RELIGION, RULES AND REGULATION AND THE REAL DAILY LIVES OF PEOPLE.
TO FULLY APPRECIATE AND UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE,
WE HAVE TO LEARN TO ACTIVATE AND CLAIM THE WORD OF GOD AND HIS
PROMISES... THE LIVING WORD --- RAMA: DAILY BREAD...
V. WE BEGIN BY READING THE BIBLE...
THIS IS THE INTRODUCTION STAGE TO ACTIVATE GOD'S WORD...
A small lad said, Grandpaw, reading the Bible is stupid. I can't understand it?
I can't remember it all, so WHY READ IT?
There was a basket sitting there that they carried coal from the shed to the fire place.
The grandfather told the boy: BOY, RUN DOWN TO THE RIVER AND BRING ME A BASKET
OF WATER!
The first trip the boy got a basket of water, it leaked out.
The boy ran, but as fast as he could run, the water leaked out of the basket.
The third time Grandfather told him, HURRY AND BRING ME A BASKET OF WATER.
The boy ran as fast as possible with the basket of water, NOTHING! NOTHING!
The boy said GRANDFATHER, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BRING A BASKET OF WATER FROM
THE RIVER.
The grandfather said: BOY, NOW LOOK AT THE BASKET?
He looked, Grandfather said what do you see?
The boy said: GRANDFATHER THE BASKET IS CLEAN.
Grandfather said: THE SAME THING IS TRUE ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD. IT SEEMS
YOU AND NOT GET THE BASKET OF THE WORD, BUT THE WORD WILL CLEAN
YOUR HEART OUT.

VI. STAGE TWO OF UNDERSTANDING AND GROWING TO ACTIVATE GOD'S WORD
IS TO MEDITATE ON THE WORD OF GOD...
A. MEDITATE:
Ponder, dwell on, think, weigh, release. reflect, project in the mind.
Psalm 119:15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
Psalm 119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Psalm 143:5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work
of thy hands.
B. TO CHEW ON,
1 Corinthians 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to
bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
Hebrews 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach
you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have
need of milk, and not of strong meat.
VII. IT IS GOOD TO READ THE WORD, IT IS BETTER TO MEDITATE ON THE WORD...
BUT YOU WILL NEVER ACTIVATE THE WORD OF GOD UNTIL YOU BELIEVE THE WORD
OF GOD IS FOR YOU... UNBELIEF WILL ALWAYS UNPLUG YOU FROM THE POWER SOURCE...
Matthew 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye
have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder
place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Mark 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the
synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
Matthew 8:13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed,
so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
VIII. THERE IS A POWERFUL WAY TO ACTIVATE GOD'S WORD EVEN GREATER...
WRITE IT, VERBALIZE IT, SPEAK THE WORD... CLAIN IT FOR YOU...
Habakkuk 2:2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon
tables, that he may run that readeth it.
1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to
his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we
have the petitions that we desired of him.
IX. ANOTHER WAY TO RELEASE GOD'S PLAN AND HIS WORDS OF YOU IS TO TESTIFY
AND SHARE THE RAMA --- LIVING WORD OF GOD IN YOUR HEART.
Zechariah 9:12 Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that
I will render double unto thee;
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their
testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
CONCLUSION:
Side By Side Unknown.
They lie on the table side by side, the Holy Bible and the TV Guide.
One is well worn and cherished with pride, no not the Bible, but the TV Guide.
One is used daily to help folks decide. No, not the Bible, but the TV Guide.
As the pages are turned, what shall they see? Oh, what does it matter, turn on the TV
So they open the book in which they confide. No, not the Bible, but the TV Guide.
The Word of God is seldom read. Maybe a verse before they fall into bed.
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be. Not from reading the Bible, from watching TV
So then back to the table side by side, Lie the Holy Bible and the TV Guide.
No time for prayer, no time for the Word, The plan of Salvation is seldom heard.
But forgiveness of sin, so full and free, Is found in the Bible, not on the TV!
A C. Nielsen says that the average American watches three hours and 46 minutes of television
per day. Let's get out the ole trusty calculator and see what that means.
That equals out to:
1. 26 hours per week;
2. 105.3 hours per month;
3. 1,371 hours per year.
4. In 1,371 hours one could read the Bible about 25 times.
5. The average American spends the equivalent of nearly 53 days of each year doing nothing
but watching TV.
6. One month and 23 days of each year are spent simply in watching.
7. The figures are even greater for teenagers.
CAN WE TEACH BETTER ON THE VALUE OF ACTIVATING THE WORD OF GOD?
