THERE IS AN ANTIDOTE! GOD HAS A REMEDY!

I. I AM HAVING THIS PROBLEM? WHAT SHALL I DO?
THIS STRESS IS CRUSHING ME, WHAT DO I DO?
Psalm 34:7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth
them.
ANTIDOTE:
Medicine used to counteract poison.
Anything that counteracts something unpleasant.
REMEDY:
Medicine or treatment, means of counteracting or removing anything undesirable,
rectify, make good, cure, restore, SOLUTION
Luke 21:18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
[19] In your patience possess ye your souls.
II. GOD'S PLAN WILL ALWAYS HAVE AN ATTIDOTE! A REMEDY!
IF YOU ARE WITH ME? --- YOU ASK A HARD THING! IF YOU ARE WITH ME... GOD WILL
GIVE YOU A DOUBLE PORTION.
AS GOD'S CHILDREN OBSTACLES AND DIFFICULTIES CAN BE OVERCOME...
GOD WILL PULL YOU THROUGH, IF YOU CAN STAND THE PULL...
2 Kings 2:8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they
were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
[9] And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for
thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit
be upon me.
[10] And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from
thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
OFTEN THE ANTIDOTE OR REMEDY HAS SPECIFIS INSTRUCTIONS...
III. WHICH IS MORE DANGEROUS? ZWW OR WWZ?
ZEAL WITH OUT WISDOM? OR WISDOM WITH OUT ZEAL? BOTH ARE DANGEROUS!
ZEAL AND IGNORNANCE CAN BRING MUCH DANGER TO BELIEVERS.
THERE IS DEATH IN THE POT!
SOME GOOD STUDENTS OF THE WORD HAVE ALREADY ATE, THE POISON WILL DOOM US!
A. I remember my Dad preaching when I was a little boy that GOD HAS AN ANTIDOTE...
50 years this lesson is still in my mind.
B. Elisha has followed Elijah through some hard difficult days.
THEY ESTABLISHED A SCHOOL TO TEACH AND TRAIN PREACHERS.
C. Elisha knows the young students are hungry, GRAB A LARGE POT, WE WILL BOIL STEW...
D. EACH STUDENT HAD A RESPONSIBILTY TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO THE STEW.
2 Kings 4:40 So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the
pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they
could not eat thereof.
E. One student GIVES A LARGE AMOUNT OF GOURDS.
Scholars say the gourds used to make the stew were HARMLESS IN SMALL AMOUNTS,
IN THE STUDENT'S ZEAL AND IGNORNANCE HE GAVE A LARGE CONTRIBUTION...
IN LARGE DOSES GOURDS CAN BE FATAL...
F. NOT ONLY IN HIS ZEAL AND IGNORNANCE DID THE YOUNG STUDENT GIVE...
HE MESSED UP THE REST OF THE POT OF GOOD STEW.
G. NOT TO WORRY: ELISHA HAS DEALT WITH GOOD INTENTIONS BEFORE...
ELISHA KNOWS GOD HAS A REMEDY...
2 Kings 4:41 But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out
for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.
H. THE AMAZING THING ABOUT THE ANTIDOTE IS IT WORKED BEFORE ON THE STUDENTS
THAT HAD ALREADY ATE THE GOURD STEW...
THAT HAS TO BE GOD...
I. GOD HAS AN ANTEDOTE THAT OVERCOMES IGNORANCE WITH ZEAL...
IV. THERE IS AN ANTITODE AND REMEMDY FOR HEALING... WHITHER THE PROBLEM IS
JUST A LIFE PROBLEM OR A SELF-INFLICTED PROBLEM, GOD STILL HEALS...
WE MUST LOOK TO THE CROSS... PRAISE WORKS... WORSHIP HIM...
A. GOD'S PEOPLE WERE MURMURING, COMPLAINING, HABITUALLY...
Numbers 21:4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of
Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.
B. WE MUST FOCUS BEYOND THE PROBLEM, WE MUST KNOOW THE HEALER IS AMONG US.
C. GOD HAS A PLAN, THERE IS A REMEDY, A GOOD ANTIDOTE AVAILABLE.
Numbers 21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a
serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement
of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins,
should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Psalm 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
D. WE BELIEVE IN SPIRITUAL HEALING... EMOTIONAL HEALING, MENTAL HEALING, PHYSICAL
HEALING.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
V. THERE IS A REMEDY OR ANTITODE FOR BARRENNESS...
WHY ACCEPT DRY, BARREN LIFE? EXTINCTION LUMS AHEAD...
WATER IS A TYPE IN THE BIBLE: LIFE--- ESSENTIALS...
A. BARREN: NO PROFIT, poor,
unable to bear young, unable to produce or bear fruit or vegetation,
B. GOD'S DESIGN IS TO BE THE HEAD NOT THE TAIL...
BLESSINGS
Deut. 28:13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and
thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I
command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
CURSE... YOUR CHOICE...
Deut. 28:44 He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt
be the tail.
C. IN THE WATER, THE ESSENTIALS, THE ENEMY HAS CAUSED GOD'S PPEOPLE TO BE BARREN.
D. IF WE STAY BARREN --- WE WILL BECOME EXTINCT...
GOD HAS A PLAN... FIND THE ANTIDOTE... GOD HEALS WITH HIS REMEDY...
2 Kings 2:20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they bring it to him.
[21] And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the
Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
VI. THERE IS A GOD PLAN FOR AN ANTIDOTE OR DIVINE REMEDY FOR BUSINESS PROBLEMS...
THIS PLACE IS TOO SMALL? WE HAVE PUT FORTH OUR BEST EFFORT AND LOOKS
LIKE WE ARE GOING TO FAIL...
A. THE SCHOOL OF MINISTRY HAS A PROBLEM.
IT IS A GOOD PROBLEM, WE NEED TO ENLARGE OUR BORDERS...
B. SOMETIMES WE MUST GROW BY FAITH...
Isaiah 54:2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare
not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;
C. 2 Kings 6:2 Each man had to GO and TAKE A BEAM... BUT ONE OF THE STUDENTS HAS A
PROBLEM...
2 Kings 6:5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas,
master! for it was borrowed.
D. THE LOST CUTTING EDGE IS A PROBLEM FOR ALL IN THE MINISTRY, WE TEND TO LOOSE
ARE SHARPNESS, OUR CUTTING EDGE WITH TIME.
E. Not only is there a problem with LOOSING THE CUTTING EDGE, there is a real problem with
PERSONAL INTEGRITY... moral uprightness, honesty, wholeness of character.
F. SO WE HAVE A BIG PROBLEM, THE BORROWED AXE HEAD?
GOD HAS THE ANTITODE, HERE IS THE REMEDY... TRUST ME...
2 Kings 6:6 And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick,
and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
G. WHILE THE AXE HEAD SWAM, THE THE SHARP EDGE DID NOT JUMP ON THE AXE HANDLE.
2 Kings 6:7 Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
H. GOD DOES WHAT THE STUDENT CAN NOT DO...
THE STUDENT HAS TO DO WHAT HE CAN...
VII. WHILE WE SEARCH FOR THE ANTIDOTE OR REMEDY WE MAY DEVELOP A LOVE OF APPLAUSE,
THEATRICAL SPOT LIGHTS AND THUS MAKE THIS RELIGION A CIRCUS OR CARNIVAL...
MERRYMAKING TIME...
A. We have a big problem, we need water for over a million people...
B. THERE IS A GREAT DANGER OF TAKING THE ROD AS A MAGIC STICK, A MAGIC WAND...
THE ROD WAS A VECHILE OF TRUTH, A VECHILE OF DELIVERING THE ANTIDOTE...
THE REMEDY WAS NOT IN THE ROD... BUT IN THE OBEDIENCE TO GOD'S WORD.
Numbers 20:8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak
ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water
out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
C. WHILE MOSES HAD THE ANTIDOTE IN HIS HAND---HE HAD ANGER IN HIS HEART...
GOD PROVIDES THE ANTITODE, THE MAN OF GOD MUST KEEP HIS EMOTIONS IN CONTROL.
THIS WORK IS BY FAITH... NOT BY WORKS...
Numbers 20:11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water
came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
D. WHILE THE ANTIDOTE WORKED, MOSES DID NOT TOTALLY BELIEVE...
THE PRICE TAG IS VERY COSTLY...
Numbers 20:12 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me
in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I
have given them.
E. WHILE MANY SAY MOSES NEVER MADE IT TO THE PROMISE LAND THEY ARE VERY WRONG.
MOSES MET JESUS IN THE HEART OF ISREAL.
VIII. BLESSES ASSURANCE... WE HAVE DIVINE PROTECTION AROUND US!
GOD PROMISED TO DELIVER HIS PEOPLE.
A. Remember Lot's wife?
Well, let us remember LOT! God delivered him.
B. GOD DELIVERED JOB!
1 Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make
a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Ephes. 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that worketh in us,
CONCLUSION:
MY GOD IS ABLE TO DO WHAT SOEVER YOU ASK, IN THE NAME OF HIS SON THAT HIS
WILL MIGHT BE DONE... WE HAVE THE CROSS, FOCUS YOUR EYES ON JESUS...
