^I. WE TALK ABOUT PERSONALITIES... EACH PERSON FROM A BABY HAS A PERSONALITY.
A. DO WE DISCUSS PERSONALITY TRAITS OR PERSONALITY TYPES?
B. Types come from the development of traits...
C. BASIC PERSONALITY TYPE:
TYPE A: impatient, driving, goal-achievement oriented --- more heart attack prone?
TYPE B: easy going, fun loving, relaxed.
TYPE C: shy, withdrawn, inhibited
D. OTHERS SAY: EXTRAVERT; INTROVERT
E. PERSONALITY TRAITS AND TYPES DEVELOP AROUND:
1. INTUITION, SENSING...
2. THINKING...
3. FEELING...
^II. FROM WHERE DO PERSONALIES COME:
A. Instinct: Things we that come from birth...
B. LEARNED:
C. Home: Parents--- siblings
D. School--- 30 hours a week. learning how to get along and work with others.
E. FRIENDS: The Bible warns, don't be unequally yoked.
F. TELEVISION, COMPUTERS, GAMES
E. CHURCH:
The church used to have hours with the kids, Sunday School, Youth Group separate night,
in the services. Today the church has lost most of the opportunities it had to help shape
a person's personality.
^III. We seem to need to TYPE PEOPLE? Each individual consist of a body, soul, spirit...
CAN WE RECOGNIZE PERSONALITY TYPES? There are many systems dealing with the
traits and types of personalities.
To do this might help our families?
All people are said to want to dominate others to some degree.
How we handle relationships?
How we tackle our problems?
^THE ANALYTICAL
Just give me the facts. Value structure, information, knowledge.
Brain, logical, organized, independent.
They are reliable, committed and focused
Interest in results.
^THE FACILITATOR:
Supporter, teacher, looks for cooperation, relationship, good team member.
Will offer advice, instruction and assistance.
Interest is in results.
Values process over product.
Loves to solve problems. Looks for progress.
Good motivator.
Can feel unneeded, become critical.
^THE EMOTION DRIVEN:
Values journey, usually can not see the destination.
Intuitive (may wrong at times); empathetic, honest, compelled by needs.
Looking for needs, looking for needs.
TRUST OTHERS, easy to be hurt.
Leans to EMOTIONAL HIGHS AND LOWS.
NEED A SENSE OF PURPOSE. Needs encouragement. Needs validation.
Loses confidence in others easily.
^THE DIRECTOR:
Born leader, assertive, confident, independent.
Drive, authoritative, sets goals.
Expects much of others, judges, tend to be domineering.
FEELS FRUSTRATED OFTEN. Becomes restless and negative.
^PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE:
Can not make concessions... demanding, controlling....
Manipulator, boss, temper...
Feels like treated wrong.
^III. IN PAUL'S WRITINGS IN IDENTIFIES SOME PERSONALITY TRAITS THE DEVELOP
INTO PERSONALITY ATTITUDES, HIS LESSON IS WORTHY FOR US TO STUDY.
AS RECORDED IN COLOSSIANS 4.
^1. THE FIRST PERSONILTY TRAITS AND TYPE PAUL ADDRESSES IS THE QUITTER: DEMAS
When the going gets tough... the tough quit... GIVE UP, LET GO, ABANDON, CEASE,
STOP, LEAVE, DEPART... DEMAS IS THIS TYPE...
^ 2 Tim. 4:10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed
unto Thessalonica;
B. The person that expresses these trait is DEMAS.
DEMAS was a companion and fellow worker of Paul's.
DEMAS WAS A GOOD HELPER AND A FRIEND...
Demas first shows up at Paul's first being in jail in Roman.

C. DEMAS FALLS IN LOVE WITH THE PRESENT WORLD...
THE WORLD MASTERS DEMAS...
D. DEMAS DESERTS HIS TEACHER AT A DESPERATE TIME...
E. QUITTING TELLS...
^ John 6:59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

can hear it? his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

F. THE QUITTER SPIRIT, THE QUITTER ATTITUDE, THE QUITTER PERSONALITY IS
SLOWLY DEVELOPED AS WE LOOSE OUR FIRST LOVE. WE GET LUKE WARM, THEN WE
GET COLD... THEN WE FIND SOME EXCUSE TO QUIT.
G. QUITTER BREED QUITTERS...
^2. THERE IS A PERSONALITY PAUL ILLUSTRATES AS VASCILLATOR, UP AND DOWN...
JOHN MARK IS THIS TYPE.
A. MARY, JOHN MARK'S MOTHER WAS ONE OF THE EARLIEST DISSCIPLES OF JESUS.
B. JOHN MARK'S MOTHER WAS A SISTER TO BARNABAS.
JOHN MARK IS CALLED BY JOHN AND BY MARK... JOHN IS THE JEWISH NAME...
^ Col. 4:10 Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas,
(touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)
C. BARNABAS WAS A GOOD MAN, LEVITE, STUDIED AT SCHOOL OF GAMALIEL WHERE PAUL
STUDIED.
BARNABAS BEFRIENDED PAUL AND OPENED MANY DOORS FOR HIS MINISTRY.
D. PAUL, BARNABAS AND JOHN MARK WERE APPOINTED MISSIONARIES TO THE GENTILES.
E. JOHN MARK LEFT PAUL AND UNCLE BARNABAS ON THE FIRST MISSIONS TRIP. HE QUIT AT
PERGA IN PAMPHYLIA.
F. 3 YEARS LATER, ON THE SECOND MISSION TRIP PAUL AND "UNCLE" BARNABAS HAD HARD
WORDS. PAUL SAID JOHN MARK QUIT US LAST TIME, HE WILL QUIT US THIS TIME.
G. BARNABAS STOOD WITH THE UNDER-DOG JUUST AS HE STOOD WITH PAUL AND HELPED
HIS MINISTRY.
^ Acts 15:36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every
city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
[37] And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
[38] But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went
not with them to the work.
[39] And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so
Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
[40] And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
[41] And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
H. BARNABAS WAS RIGHT, JOHN MARK BECAME A GREAT CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY.
LATER JOHN MARK BECAME A HELPER TO PAUL.
I. JOHN MARK AND PAUL HAD A SUPER RECONCILATION, JOHN STOOD WITH PAUL IN PRISON
IN ROMAN.

J. LATER JOHN MARK WAS WITH PETER DOING WORK IN BABYLON.

my son.
K. WHILE JOHN MARK WAVER UNDER THE HEAVY LOAD OF MISSIONS, HE CAME BACK
UNDER THE MENTORSHIP OF HIS LOVING UNCLE BARNABAS TO BECOME A MIGHTY
MAN OF GOD...
^3. COLOSSIANS 4: THE THIRD PERSONALITY TRAITS AND TYPE BELONGS TO A MAN NAME
LUKE, PERSISTENCE... CONTINUE FIRMLY, PERSEVERVE, ENDURE, CARRY ON...
^ Col. 4:14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.
A. Luke was an evangelist, he was a GENTILE.
Luke was a DOCTOR, PHYSICAN in Troas...
B. LUKE GOT SAVED UNDER PAUL'S MINISTRY, AND TRAVELED WITH HIM.
C. LUKE ACCEPTED JESUS, THERE IS NEVER A NOTE OF HIM QUITTING, OR VASCILATING.
D. HE WAS FAITHFUL AND TAUGHT MMERCY, GRACE,, AND HOPE TO ALL.
E. THE BOOK OF LUKE HAS 1151 VERSES, 389 IN COMMON WITH MATTHEW AND LUKE.
HE RECORDS 17 PARABLES, 7 MIRACLES OMOTTED BY MARK AND MATTHEW.
F. OUR GOAL IS TO BECOME LIKE LUKE... FOREVER ESTABLISH, FAITHFUL, AND TRUE.
^4. COLOSSIANS 4 RECORDS ONE MORE PERSONALITY TYPE THE CHURCH WILL KNOW:
ALEXANDER THE COPPERSMITH.
A. ALEXANDER HAD A HIGH PAYING PROFESSION.
B. HE WAS RESPECTED IN BUSINESS CIRCLES...
C. HE HUNG WITH BAD FRIENDS: HYMENAEUS AND OTHERS THAT TAUGHT HERESIES
REGARDING THE RESURRECTION.
^ 1 Tim. 1:19-20 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have
made shipwreck:
[20] Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not

D. ALEXANDER WAS A MEAN, CRUEL MAN. HIS INTENTION WAS TO DO BAD TOHARM THE
CROSS. THESE BECOME TESTING POINTS.
E. WE MUST LEARN TO OVERCOME EVERY OBSTACLES.
