- "The Hinge of History"

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
1. DAVID. (The Voice.) v.1 - "O sing unto the Lord a new song."
MARY. (The Echo.) Lk 1:45 - "My soul doth magnify the Lord."
2. DAVID. (The Voice.) v. 1 - "He hath done marvellous things."
MARY. (The Echo.) Lk 1:49 - "He that is mighty hath done great things."
3. DAVID. (The Voice.) v.1 -"With his own right hand and holy arm hath he gotten himself the victory."
MARY. (The Echo.) Lk 1:51 - "He hath showed strength with his arm, and scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts."
4. DAVID. (The Voice.) v.2 - "The Lord hath made known his salvation; his righteousness hath he openly showed, in the sight of the heathen"
MARY. (The Echo.) Lk 1:50 - "His mercy is on them that fear him, from generation to generation."
5. DAVID. (The Voice.) v.3 - "He hath remembered his mercy and his truth."
MARY. (The Echo.) Lk 1:54 -"He hath holpen (helped, embraced) his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy."
These parallels are very striking; and it seems as if Mary had this psalm in her eye when she composed her song of triumph.
