OPPORTUNITIES WE HAVE TODAY...
Don't lose sight ...
The really of life may not be the TOUCHDOWN... IT MAY BE THE FIRST DOWN...
There knock at the door MAY BE OPPORTUNITY?
Why are we fussing, complaining and grumbling... GET UP AND ANSWER THE
OPPORTUNITY...THERE IS MORE... YOU KNOW THERE HAS TO BE MORE TO LIFE
THAN THIS...
You may have some great opportunities before you...
That you do not see as an opportunity for more...
May you just don't want the DOOR TO OPEN? Keep it closed?
While you wait for opportunities, maybe you need to get up and make the
opportunity...
Opportunity may be hid in some hour work?
I. MANY DIG A GRAVE OF OPPORTUNITY IN A COMMON ACT OF
PROCRASTINATION...
CAN WE REALIZE THERE HAS TO BE MORE THAN THIS?
WHAT IS OUR PRIORITY? WILL WE ACCEPT THIS IS THE BEST I CAN DO?
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and
all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the
things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
A. On a hot day in San Antonio the temp was a blistering 99*.
The mother and her aunt were going shopping...
In hysteria the mother realized her baby girl was in the car.
Someone saw them screaming and made his best attempt to unlock the doors with a
clothes hanger. It did not work.
Someone noticed the baby girl was turning purple and foaming at the mouth.
THIS BECAME A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION.
Fred Arriola was driving a wrecker and saw the commotion.
He stopped and saw the baby was dying...
Fred quickly grabbed a hammer out of his tool box and smashed the rear window and
released the child to the mother, and placed to the baby in a cool AC in a car waiting
by... FRED BECAME AN IMMEDIATE HERO AND MADE THE NEWS...
HE TOLD THE CAMERA:
" I JUST THOUGHT WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT-------
THE WINDOW OR THE BABY?"
B. Later the mother was interview with the beautiful baby girl in her arms.
The mother asked the camera man: IS THAT WRECKER DRIVER GOING TO PAY
FOR MY WINDOW?
C. WEIGH PRIORITIES? The window was important? Sure?
But the baby was MORE IMPORTANT...
II. LET'S MAKE A CHOICE: SHALL WE KILL THE DREAM?
WILL FACTS BREED HATRED?
THERE WAS A YOUNG BOY... HE HAD A DYSFUNTIONAL FAMILY...
THERE WAS CONSTANT STRIFE WITH THE PARENTS...
THE BROTHERS HATED HIM...
THERE WAS A CHOICE TO MAKE... SHALL WE KILL THE DREAM?
A. DID YOU KNOW GOD HAS A PLAN...?
GOD HAS A PURPOSE AND THE ENEMY HAS A PLAN TO GET ANGRY AND MAD
AND TO TAKE MATTERS AND REVENGE IN YOUR OWN HANDS...
B. 10 brothers were all wrong, this little snot nose brother was a pain in the elbow...
Genesis 37:4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his
brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him
yet the more.
Genesis 37:8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us?
or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the
more for his dreams, and for his words.
C. This little brother was a braggart, and rub it in your face...
I DREAMED THERE WAS 12 SHEAVES, I STOOD UP AND YOU ALL BOWED
AND BEGGED OF ME...
BUT THIS LITTLE BROTHER KNEW THERE WAS MORE THAN WHAT YOU
COULD SEE...
Genesis 37:19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
D. SURE HE SEES THESE DREAMS OF MORE...
HE SEES THE SUN , THE MOON AND 11 STARS KISSING HIS FEET...
HE KNOWS THERE IS MORE... HE IS NOT HANDLING THE MORE VERY WELL...
We will SEE what becomes of HIS DREAM OF MORE...
Genesis 37:20 Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some
pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will
become of his dreams.
III. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WHEN DEATH COMES TO OUR DREAM...
THE COAT OF MANY COLORS... THE FATHER'S FAVOR IS STRIPPED OFF HIS BACK...
NOW JOSEPH REALIZES THIS IS SERIOUS... THE DREAM APPEARS DEAD...
THE DREAMER OF MORE HAS LOST ALL HOPE...
A. THIS COAT OF MANY COLORS WAS MORE THAN A COAT...
This was God's plan... THE MORE REST IN THIS ONE MAN...
B. JOSEPH THE PROMISE IS DOOMED...
Genesis 37:23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren,
that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;
C. SOMETIMES WE FIND THE MORE IN LESS...
JOSEPH'S VISION CHANGES DOWN IN THE PIT...
IS THERE MORE WAY DOWN HERE? NO! ?
D. JOSEPH COULD HEAR HIS BROTHERS... THERE WAS AN ECHO?
They were eating lunch... they saw PROFIT... LET US SELL JOSEPH AND SPLIT
THE MONEY...
E. I AM COMING OUT OF THE PIT... THE DREAM? MORE? NO LESS?
Genesis 37:28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and
lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of
silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
IV. I KNOW THERE IS MORE... EVEN RIDING A CAMEL? MORE? NO HATRED?
NO REVENGE?
EGYPT IS A TYPE... TO END OF IN EGYPT WAS A DREAM OF MORE KILLER...
Genesis 37:36 And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of
Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.
A. YOU TALK ABOUT THE PIT, NOW SOLD, NOW ON AN AUCTION BLOCK TO
THE HIGHEST BIDDER...
B. I can not see the more any more...
God the dream is so DIM...
C. WAIT GOD CAN GIVE HOPE TO THE HOPELESS...
SEE, I TOLD YOU THERE WAS MORE?
Genesis 39:2 And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and
he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
D. NEVER MIND... A mean woman FALSELY ACCUSES AND BACK TO THE PIT...
YOU EVER BEEN IN JAIL IN A STRANGE LAND?
Genesis 39:20 (And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place
where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.
E. EVER LOOKED AT THE MOON FROM A JAIL CELL?
F. A 17 YEAR OLD BOY IS A LONG WAY FROM HIS DREAM? THERE AIN'T MORE?
WAIT HE IS A CHANCE...
1. THE BUTLER... IN 3 DAYS... BE BACK IN OFFICE
2. THE BAKER... IN 3 DAYS DIE...
G. GOD'S MORE IS COMING...
THE 17 YEAR OLD BOY IS NOW 30... 13 YEARS... THE MORE IS HOPELESS...
THE BULTER FORGETS JOSPEH....
V. THE MORE FINALY TURNS FROM A BLOSSOM TO FRUIT...
HERE IT IS ... THE SUDDEN MOVE OF GOD THAT IS NOT ALWAYS SUDDEN...
PHAROAH HAS 2 DREAMS...
A. 7 FAT COWS, 7 BONEY COWS...
B. 7 GOOD EARS CORN, 7 BAD EARS...
Genesis 41:38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as
this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?
39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this,
there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:
40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people
be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.
42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and
arrayed him in vestures
of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried
before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
C. AFTER THE PIT, SOLD, SLAVE, RAPE, JAIL, FORGOTTEN...
NOW WE GET TO THE MORE....
D. NO THERE IS MORE THAN THAT...
Genesis 42:8 And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.
9 And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto
them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.
E. THE PLAN WAS MORE THAN JOSEPH A PROMOTION...
THE PLAN IS TO SAVE THE FAMILY... THERE IS MORE COMING...
Genesis 45:3 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live?
And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.
4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came
near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.
5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither:
for God did send me before you to preserve life.
6 For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years,
in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.
7 And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save
your lives by a great deliverance.
GOD HAD A PLAN... GOD HAD A PURPOSE... NOTHING COULD STOP GOD'S
PLAN AND PURPOSE OF MORE AND BLESSINGS...
VI. WHAT DO WANT MY FRIEND...??? IS THIS A CRAZY QUESTION?
THE MAN IS T-TOTALLY BLIND AND JESUS ASKED: WHAT DO YOU WANT?
WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?
Luke 18:35 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain
blind man sat by the way side begging:
36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he
cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was
come near, he asked him,
41 Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may
receive my sight.
42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all
the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
VI. I MUST TELL YOU A FACT... IT MAY NOT MAKE SENSE TO YOUR EYES,
HEAD, OR YOUR HEART BUT THERE IS A DAY OF THE VISITATION OF THE LORD...
A. GOD HAS A PLAN... THERE IS MORE...
DON'T MISS THE VISITATION... THERE IS A TIME OF VISITATION...
DO NOT MISS THE VISITATION OF GOD...
Luke 19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and
they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the
time of thy visitation.
B. THERE IS A PAY DAY... a recompense... come Lord...
Hosea 9:7 The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel
shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine i
niquity, and the great hatred.
C. WATCH, WATCH FOR THE VISITATION THAT IS COMING...
Micah 7:4 The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn
hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.
D. TIME TO PRAISE AND GLORIFY GOD...THE MORE IS HERE...
1 Peter 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas
they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall
behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
E. THE LORD HAS MORE... HE PROMISED THE VISITATION IN THE LAST DAYS...
Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my
spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your
old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will
I pour out my spirit.
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my
Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young
men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of
my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
VII. PROMOTION COMES AFTER TRIALS AND STORMS...
SURE THERE IS MORE BUT WE MUST HANG ON AND PRESS ON...
Psalm 75:6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor
from the south.
A. DANIEL IS PPPROMOTED AND REMEMBERS HIS FRIENDS...
THE TEST WAS LONG AND HARD...
Daniel 2:48 Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts,
and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors
over all the wise men of Babylon.
49 Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of t
he king.
Daniel 3:30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the
province of Babylon.
B. MORDECAI WAS FORGOTTEN...
HAMAN HATED HIM... WANTED HIM DEAD... BUT THHE MORE COMES...
Esther 6:1 On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to
bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
2 And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of
the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the
king Ahasuerus.
3 And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for
this? Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing
done for him.
Esther 6:10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel
and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that
sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
11 Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and
brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before
him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
Esther 8:7 Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to
Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him
they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.
VIII. OPPORTUNITY MAY BE FOUND IN HARD WORK... PLOW ON?
THE YOUNG PREACHER HAS BEEN FOLLOWING THE OLD PREACHER
FOR MANY YEARS...
THERE MAY BE A GREATER OPPORTUNITY AHEAD...
THE YOUNG PREACHER HAS A FEELING SOMETHING BIG IS ABOUT TO
OCCUR... WHILE I HAVE SEEN GOD MANY TIME...
I KNOW THERE HAS TO BE MORE THAN THIS....
A. HERE WE ARE AT GILGAL...
WE HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE...
Something is in the air... THERE IS MORE...
1. GILGAL: rolling stones, not established, up and down, in and out...
2. NO ROOTS, NO FRUITS...
2 Kings 2:1 And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven
by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
B. YOU HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL, YOU CAN TARRY AND STAY AT ROLLING
STONE IF YOU SO DESIRE...
2 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent
me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth,
I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
C. I KNOW THERE IS MORE THAN ROLLING STONES... I REFUSE TO QUIT
HERE... THERE IS MORE THAN THIS....
I HAVE TRAVEL ALL THESE MILES... I AM NOT QUITING NOW...
1. BETHEL IS: DEVOTIONS, PRAYER, STUDY, TAKING DEEP ROOTS,
WEATHERING THE STORMS AND TRIALS...
2. DEEPER WILL FIND THE MORE... THE JOURNEY CAN NOT STOP
WITH LESS....
D. THE IS A FEELING IN THE AIR...
THERE IS MORE.... OTHERS KNOW THERE HAS TO BE MORE THAN THIS...
DON'T YOU KNOW THERE IS MORE?
3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and
said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy
head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
E. ELIJAH GIVES ANOTHER OPPORTUNIITY, you have come a long way...
You can quit if you so desire... I refuse to quit...
I KNOW THERE IS MORE THAN THIS...
THANK GOD FOR THIS... I WANT MORE...
1. JERICHO: Worship, praise, magnify, adoration,
2. FEW LEARN THE BEAUTY OF WORSHIPPING GOD...
4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath
sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth,
I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
F. OTHERS CAN FEEL THE EXCITEMENT OF MORE IN THE AIR...
SOME WILL DISCOURAGE YOU...
SOME WILL SPUR YOU ON TO THE MORE GOD HAS DESIGNED FOR YOU....
5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said
unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head
to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
G. THE OLD PREACHER GIVES ELISHA ONE MORE CHANCE TO QUIT...
1. HERE WE ARE AT THE JORDAN RIVER....
2. WE COME AT THE SWELLING OF THE JORDAN....
3. There are no bridges, no helicopters, no boats in the swelling
of the Jordan...
4. The Jordan is death of SELF, the flesh, yield, no compromise,
sold out...
5. More than dedicated, TOTAL COMMITMENT...
H. YOU MUST LEAVE THE CROWD BEHIND YOU AT THE JORDAN...
6 And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath sent me to
Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave
thee. And they two went on.
7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off:
and they two stood by Jordan.
I. LOOKING FOR MORE?
4 CHANCES TO QUIT?
NOW IN OUR SEARCH FOR MORE ... WE HAVE COME TO THE PART OF
THE JOURNEY THAT REQUIRES GOD... We can not cross the Jordan alone...
8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and
they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
IX. NOW WE HAVE COME TO THE LAST MILE OF THE WAY...
THERE IS EXCITEMENT IN THE AIR... WE ARE GETTING VERY CLOSE TO
OUR MORE... WHAT DO YOU WANT???
A. BE BOLD WHEN YOU ASK FOR MORE...
B. Why would we ever settle for less... the journey to MORE...
COMES TO A HEAD WITH MOTIVE AND
2 Kings 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah
said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee.
And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me
when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
CONCLUSION: We face the TIME OF HIS VISITATION, will we accept less?
