DO YOU WANT TO BE SAVED!
ROMANS 6:23
Romans 6:23
(NKJV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I. The Approach
A. Be Complimentary
1. From the moment you walk on a person’s property, look for something you can compliment them about. A new home, pretty yard,
nice car, their children, etc.
B. FORM
1. Remember these 4 letters---F-O-R-M
a. F-BEGIN WITH THE LETTER F which stands for family. Ask questions about their family.
b. O-STANDS FOR THEIR OCCUPATION OR JOB. Ask about the husbands or wife’s job. This is a good and easy talking point
c. R-STANDS FOR RELIGION. This does not mean you get into a discussion on religion. This does not mean to begin talking
about the Bible, your religion or theirs. This letter refers to such questions as:
1. Mrs. Jones, what church do you attend”
2. Have you attended very long?
3. Do you attend regularly?
4. This will give you an insight to this person’s thoughts.
d. M- Last is the letter M = Message. THAT IS WHY YOU CAME
Example: Mrs. Jones, we are so glad you visited First Church. Mrs. Jones we’ll be going now, but it has been
so nice visiting with you. OH, by the way, may I ask you a question please? (Usually the answer will be
yes) At this time begin the presentation.
II. THE PLAN
A. Mrs. Jones, do you believe god can do anything? (usually the answer is yes).
B. Do you mind if I show you something that has been a real blessing to me” (again, normally the answer is yes).
C. Heb. 6:18 “…That by Two unchangeable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie((NLT). If this is true THERE IS SOMETHING GOD
CANNOT DO!! God cannot lie!
D. Do you mind if I show you something else?
Romans 6:23 (Let the read it for themselves) “…for all have sinned and come short of the grace of God….” If God can’t lie then it
must be true…We have all sinned.
E. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death..How do we know everybody has sinned? Because we die—death is the penalty for sin.
“But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
AT THIS POINT ASK THE QUESTION:
“How long is eternity?” Eternity is for ever and ever isn’t it?—that’s a mighty long time)
F. 1 John 1:10 says “If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us. “
(You are at this point trying to make them realize they are a sinner)
Refer back to Heb. 6:18—GOD CANNOT LIE!---it must be true ---God cannot lie—We have all sinned!
As black as it looks, Mrs. Jones, (have her read) 1 John 1:9 says ,” If we confess our sins he is faithful
and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
If that is true that God cannot lie and Heb. 6:18 confirms it, then by a simple confession of our sins (this does not mean naming our
sins one by one, but by a general admission ‘that we are sinners, confessing it to Christ and inviting Jesus into our hearts we can
be saved!!!—And Jesus will cleanse us from all unrighteousness!!
G. Mrs. Jones, I’d like to show you what can happen in your heart right now. Do you mind?
1. Rev. 3:20 says, “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and
dine with him and he with Me. (Explain that the door means door of our hears and dine means fellowship.
2. What is actually happening to you right now is that God is standing at your heart’s door knocking and begging you to let Him inside.
3. How do we let him in? (Turn back to 1 John 1:9 and again let her read out loud, the have her read Rom 10:9 out loud) Those
scriptures are as follows “9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. “(1 John 1:9 NKJV) and “9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart
that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. “ (Romans 10:9 NKJV)
4. Mrs. Jones, I would like for you to try something with me. Bow you head and close your eyes and I’m going to pray a simply prayer
with you (Have the repeat after you).
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know I have sinned and done wrong, I know that within me there is nothing good. I confess my sins and acknowledge my need for a savior—Lord, I’m sorry for my sins and I invite you into my heart and life—DON’T SAY AMEN—(Now with your head still bowed and eyes still closed) out in front of you is my bible in my right hand. If you really were sincere—If you really meant what you have just prayed according to God’s Word, you have become a child of God—A Christian—You are SAVED!! (Explain it’s not the emotion or reaction but God’s Word that saves.
Encourage them to pray their own prayer thanking the Lord for saving them (Give them help if necessary. While there, make them faithfully promise to read the Bible—Go to Church—dedicate everything they have to the Lord Jesus Christ.
H. Again have them read out loud 1 John 1:9—If we confess our sins, He is …
1. Ask the if they did that---“Did you confess?”
2. Again explain if they did and were sincere, the Word of God says they have been saved. Tell them “Jesus has forgiven you and
cleansed your life from a life of sin and unrighteousness. At this point, rejoice with them!! Isn’t that wonderful!!
I. Then have them tell you what God has done for them.
1. Tell them, “Look at me and tell me what the Lord has done for you!” They should reply,”Jesus has saved my soul!”
2. Ask them, “Are you sure?” If they have a question carry them to Eph. 2:8-9. “8For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that
not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (NKJV)
3. If they are sure tell them, I’didn’t save you, The church didn’t save you—Jesus Saved YOU!
(This is the time that many realize what Jesus has done for them)
4. Have them confess to someone there what Jesus has done for them>
5. Give them the little book “Now What” for New Christians
Have them tell 5 people that day what Jesus has done for them.
