Christ the Healer Matthew 8:14-17NLT
When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. 15 But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her. Then she got up and prepared a meal for him.
16 That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick. 17 This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.
A closer look at Matthew chapter 8, Jesus and His disciples were always ready to minister (8:14-15). As His disciples, we should be ready to serve others. Wherever we encounter need, we give. As we walk by faith- word spreads, and Jesus heals all who come (8:16).
Verse 16 again, When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,
Healing is part of Jesus' mission.
Matthew 8:17NKJ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”
What kind of healing do you need? Could it be physical, emotional, spiritual.
God commanded us to believe- have faith! Mark 11:22-23NKJ So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
Jesus came to accomplish the will of His Father.
John 17:21NLT I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.
If we’re not in Him, we’re not together, broken unity, word only, without love, carefully not caring; this breaks the heart of Jesus Christ!
Isaiah 53:1-4NLT Who has believed our message? To whom has the Lord revealed his powerful arm? 2 My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. 3 He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. 4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!
Some say they believe His message, but quickly turn-away. Other’s believe for a while and experience an hick-up; however, if you’re going to make a faith impact you must stay the course.
Isaiah 53:1-4TM Who believes what we’ve heard and seen? Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this? 2-6 The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling, a scrubby plant in a parched field. There was nothing attractive about him, nothing to cause us to take a second look. He was looked down on and passed over, a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand. One look at him and people turned away. We looked down on him, thought he was scum. But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us. We thought he brought it on himself, that God was punishing him for his own failures. But it was our sins that did that to him, that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins! He took the punishment, and that made us whole. Through his bruises we get healed. We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost. We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way. And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on him, on him.
Hebrew 13:8TM For Jesus doesn’t change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he’s always totally himself.
1. Jesus works through us!
Jesus calls for action (Doing) along with true belief.
Jesus awaits ‘one’ to believe.
Jesus is available.
Jesus is moved by our passion.
Jesus’ face is turned toward His children. 1 Peter 3:12
