Isaiah 9:6-7 THE BIRTH OF JESUS 12-22-12
It's the time of year that many places and people around the world remember the birth of our Wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, so today we'll bring a message to do with this great truth.
* Listen as I read today's text found in Isaiah 9:6-7:
6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his {name} shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
--------
The first thing I want us to notice in verse 6 is that we're told that all 5 of these titles are not 5 different names, it say's here "his {name} singular, shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
--------------------------------------
At this time of year what is known as the "Christmas season" believers in Jesus Christ honor and remember His birth.
No one knows for certain what day or what month it was that He was born, some say it was in September, other say it's in October, today we'll not dwell to long on what the day or the month was, because what ever men might say to do with His real birth day is all speculation, so that's really not that important, but its most important for people to receive Him as their Lord and Savior.
Dear heart it would have been better for a person never to have been born if they die in their sins as Judas did;
> Mark 14:21-- good were it for that man if he had never been born.
---------------------------------------
The earliest prediction of Jesus Christ's birth occurred about 4000 B.C. and is recorded in Gen. 3:15, also there is the essential conflict between Satan and the Lord, and indicates that this conflict also will involve the people of God and the followers of Satan.
> Gen. 3:15. And I will put enmity* {hostility} between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel.
What this implies is, that as Satan's head is crushed with the heel of Jesus, Satan's head bruises His heel.
* The devils seed are "the children of the devil"
>Acts 13:8-10 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. 9Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, 10And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
Jesus said in;
> John 8: 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.
-------
The promised Seed of the woman comes directly from the seed of Abraham then Isaac his son, then Jacob his son, and then Judah his son.
Let me say in case there may be some folks that might not know, Jacob had 12 sons, and from these 12 sons's come the 12 tribes that is known as "ISRAEL" today.
------
* We have their names and their mothers names as well in;
Genesis 35:22 -- 26 --- Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: 23The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:
24The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin: 25And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:
26And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padanaram.
---------
Jesus is of the tribe of Judah, called the Son of David because that is the Kingly lineage.
We commemorate the birth of the Son born in Bethlehem to the Virgin Mary. We commemorate the birth of the Son of God; listen as I read again part of today's text.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born,
* Notice; "A CHILD IS BORN" the child born too Mary was JESUS.
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. --Jesus means Savoir.
---
* Listen; -- unto us a son is given:
The Son that "IS GIVEN", was God giving His Son, Mary brought forth God's given Son. --- "JESUS" was the Son of mans name.
>Matthew 1: 20 But while he {Joseph} thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
---------
* Jesus once asked his disciples in
>Luke 9:20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God. "CHRIST" means, Gods "anointed"
"GOD" can not die, so He took on Himself a body like that of sinful man, in order for Him to be able to die and pay the sin debt for man.
---
> Philippians 2: 5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: * {anointed} 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
---------
Jesus is the Man, who commanded, and the wind and the waves obeyed; He is the one who healed the sick, cleansed lepers, raised the dead, and walked on water; and He is the one who taught with authority and prophesied that He would be raised from the dead.
* Listen; which of the God Head raised Jesus from the dead?
>Romans 6:4 Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father--
>Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you--
>John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
* So all three, of the God Head raised Jesus.
----------------------------
Before there was ever any thing created, the God Head made a plan that all man kind could be brought back into fellowship with God and be saved from destruction, as God knew before man was created that man would fall into sin.
------
The 2nd person of the God head, God the Son was to come to earth at the right time and make a way for us to be redeemed**. {Bought back}
> Galatians 4: 4-5 But when the fulness of the time * {not just any old time} was come, God sent forth his Son, {unto us a son is given:} made of a woman, made under the law, 5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
>1 Peter 1:18-20 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
And when the right time finally came about God the Father sent God the Son, the Christ. *** His Anointed.
* God required a perfect and sinless Sacrifice and Jesus was the only One that could fulfill these requirements.
„« 2nd Corinthians 5:21 For He** hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Notice, {God hath made Him} for the purpose "to be sin for us", Jesus died for the sins of every man, but people must receive Him as their payment for their sin.
„« Every person that is in hell or that will go too hell went there or will go there with their sin debt paid, but they refused too ask Him into their heart and lives to be their Lord and Savior.
Now that you and I that have been saved, now that we've received Jesus as our Lord and Savior, Jesus righteousness' has been imputed on and too us, now we have received "the righteousness of God in him."
„« And let me remind us, that we're just as saved as we'll ever be, now that we're saved will determine our reward when we get there, it is too do with our works, our deeds, after the fact of being saved.
-------
>John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
So the child Jesus was born and the Son of God was given.
-----------
„« Listen; Matthew 1:23-25 says that Mary was a virgin until He was born. The Jewish leaders who motivated the Roman governor Pontius Pilate to kill Jesus have historically tried to convince us that Jesus' mother was not a virgin.
Their own Prophets believed the Messiah would have a miraculous birth.
--------------------------------------------------------
The Prophet Micah prophesied in Micah 5:2 the very city that He'd be born in: that the Christ or the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.
„« And we find its fulfillment in:
>Matt. 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, --
Jeremiah told that some of Israel's children would be killed at the coming of the Messiah.
>Jer. 31:15 Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
„« And we read about the fulfillment in:
>Matt. 2:16-18 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children** that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
17Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, 18In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
-------------------------------------------
„« Isaiah prophesied that the Holy Spirit would descend and rest upon Him.
> Isaiah 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him --
„« We're told of its fulfillment in;
>Matt. 3:16-17 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he ** {Jesus} saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
-----
„« John the Baptist also testifies that he saw the Holy Spirit descending and abode on Jesus.
>John 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
-----------------------------------------------
„« Hosea prophesied that God would bring His Son out of Egypt.
>Hosea 11:1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
„« We read of it fulfillment in;
>Matt. 2:13-15 And when they were departed,** {the wise men} behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: 15And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, {Hosea} saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
----
Listen, Jesus had to be born into the family of David, had to be born of a virgin, had to be born in Bethlehem, children would die, and then Jesus comes out of Egypt.
The prophet Hosea must have wondered why Messiah would come out of Egypt, yet Hosea wrote what he was given even though he didn't understand it.
---------------------------------------------
There are many more prophecies to do with Him being the Messiah, the Savior of the world, and King of the entire earth.
And the reason God gave us these prophecies is to help us identify the Messiah.
-------------------------------------------------------------
~ Let me give you one man's estimation of the odds that one person could fulfill all these prophecies, here is what he has to say~~
Listen--It is estimated that there were 250 million people alive in the world in A.D. 33 - the year Jesus was crucified.
This means that only one male out of the 250 million people in A.D. 33 would have had to die that year by crucifixion,--- He'd have to be of Jewish descent from King David, ----be born in Bethlehem, ----have been a teacher using parables, ----healed others and performed miracles.
He would have had to ride into Jerusalem on a donkey, -- have been rejected by the leaders and then died four days later on a cross, with no broken bones but with pierced feet, hands and side during absolute darkness.
This individual would have had to die during one unique week - {Passover}
The probability of all of this happening to one single male is astronomical.
Yet, history and the Bible show us that these things are all true of Jesus. These prophecies tell us that Jesus is the Messiah - He is God.
