Responding to God’s Ability
John 1:15/18
Of His fullness have we all received, and grace for grace. When we learn to walk the reality of the branch and vine life, we will experience a son to father the relationship, and know all wisdom, knowledge and ability belongs to us through Jesus the son of God.
Responding to God’s ability, the word ability means to do, or act, to have the capability of doing, the power to accomplish and to perform effectively. The scripture tells us that God is able to do all things exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think.
I ask you, are you walking in the fullness of your privileged life? Are we receiving the benefits of the Divine Life that belongs to the believer? Are we responding to God’s ability believing that we can do all things through Jesus Christ who gives us the victory?
Walking in God’s ability should cause men and women to conquer those things that rule over us in the sense knowledge world. We should be ruling over circumstances and turning weakness in to strength, failure in success and taking the weak things of this world to confound mighty. “Of His fullness have we all received, and grace upon grace.”
Jesus Christ has given men the ability from which they can withdraw on the things needed of sustain abundant life, for we have received His fullness of love, power and grace. “In whom we have our Redemption through His blood, the remission of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7
Redemption is ours, not in theory but a great doctrine; it is a breathing, moving and beautiful reality in our daily lives.
Jesus is the master of every situation that we will encounter in this present world, and of His fullness we have received rest, quietness, assurance and power because of His great ability.
From the book of Psalms chapter thirty-seven and verse three through seven, “Trust in Jehovah, and do good; dwell in the land, and in trusting thou shall be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, Trust in the Lord, and wait patiently for him.”
When we draw on God’s ability we are no longer feeding upon the failures and weakness of self, but we are delighting ourselves in the Lord for He gives us the desires of our heart.
When we trust the God of promise there is a flow of quiet rest, no more fretting, no more irritation because we are drawing from His ability. Paul said in Ephesians that all things have been put under the feet of Jesus who is the head over all things to the church, which is the body, the fullness of Him that fills all things.
Now that every power has been put under His feet, and we are his body the feet that treads the earth. Satan’s powers have been broken and we have inherited completeness and the fullness of His victory and all things are under our feet.
Again Paul writes, “He raised us up with Him, and made us to sit with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus.” In the Mind of the Father we are now seated in the heavenlies because of the shed blood of His son. We have been given the authority and dominion over disease, sickness and failures; they are beneath our feet through Christ Jesus.
Many times we quote, “I can do all things through Christ who give me strength.” Yet we walk in fear burdened down with the cares of life allowing our sense knowledge to take over and rule us. We are not to walk in bondage and weakness, but in the fullness of his ability from grace unto grace.
In the book of Galatians chapter two and verse twenty, “It is no longer I that lives, but Christ lives in me.” Think about it, Christ living out His life in us. He is not just a shaft of light shining from the throne; He is the Light that lights the life of men and is living in us. It is the good pleasure of the Father to give us all things pertaining to life in His Kingdom.
Here is a question for us to consider. Are we going to use the ability that He has placed at our disposal? Here is a most thrilling fact, that God has poured His life into us, and that life has recreated us to be His workmanship created in Christ Jesus.
We are created for good works, to open the Word; to lead the weak and fearful into their inheritance making known the revelation of Jesus Christ and His soon coming. While writing to believers Paul realized that it was God who was at work within him. Stating, “For it is God who is at work within me, willing and working his own good pleasure.”
Here is one of the most uplifting fact this side of heaven; knowing that we are united with God in Christ a union of life in life and old thing have passed away and behold all things are becoming new as we walk in His ability with courage to over come the forces of evil.
Marks gospel reveals when the believers went forth preaching and teaching the word, that God went with them confirming His word with signs and wonders.
When we go forth in His ability the glory of God covers us and goes before us. Jesus had the Father’s words in His lips so He healed the sick, opened blinded eyes and caused lame to walk. So He says to us, go forth with the words of life on your lips and He will “Work with us and confirm the Word with signs following.”
In the book of Romans chapter eight and verse eleven, “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.” The word quickens means to make alive, or give His ability, and when we receive His Spirit we go forth in His power.
Having been redeemed by the power of the cross through the shed blood of Jesus we have God ability if we dare to walk in it. When we walk in His strength we do not depend on our physical strength. For we have the wisdom, knowledge, ability and power of God working in us.
Having the God’s knowledge and wisdom will sustain the believer in these days that Peter called an untoward generation. If there was ever a time that the church must put on the whole amour of God and His ability to do spiritual warfare it is today.
God has given us His ability with the power to accomplish and He will perform it effectively. We must simply take Him at His word and respond to His ability. It’s more than just reading the word; we must speak it with our mouth and believe it in our heart and have faith that He will bring it to pass.
Responding to God’s ability should be the central theme of the believer. When we pursue the things of God our life will take on a new dimension and a responsibility to our fellowman.
