# 7~ ANGELS~ 3~ BIBLE DOCTRINE 8-25-12
Today we'll get back to our study of Bible Doctrine, we've already said a few things about angels, and so today we'll think on angels once again.
Angels were created and with God before He created any thing else, at that time all the angels were holy and without sin, but as I have already pointed out that Lucifer lied to the angels and said that he was going to over throw God, he was Lucifer at that time, the most beautiful and powerful of all the angels, and because of his beauty he became full of pride and sinned, 1/3 rd of the angels believed him, today their demons, fallen angels, unclean spirits.
God created the angels with a free will; the 1/3 chose to follow Lucifer, which means that God still has 2/3's that chose to stay with Him.
Rev. 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth:
>> God the Son saw Satan fall from heaven along with his angels.
Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Only God knows the time that passed after that until He created man, but Satan and his demons were already on the earth when He did.
The name Lucifer is found one time in the bible, Isa.14:12, the name means "shining one" or "star of the morning; he was originally placed in a position of authority over the cherubim surrounding the throne of God.

>> Angels are innumerable as for as man can tell, we could never count them.
Hebrews 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, --

>> Angels are spirit beings; and are usually not seen, unless God gives the ability to see them or unless they manifest themselves as man.
>> Balaam couldn't see the angel standing in his way until the Lord opened his eyes.
Num.22:31 Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he ** bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.
>> The servant of Elisha couldn't see the host of angels surrounding him until Elisha prayed for his eyes to be opened.
2 Kg. 6:15-17 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host ** compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

The Bible gives us at least three categories of celestial creatures. There are Angels, Seraphim and Cherubim.

Angels - are those who have no wings and appear as men on earth when God so directs. -- Gen.18: & 19:

Seraphim- mean burning ones and have 6 wings, 2 to cover their face, 2 to cover their feet and 2 for flying. They are also described as having four faces. "Man, calf, lion & eagle"
Isaiah's vision in Isa.6:1-3 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Rev. 4:6-8 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
7And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
8And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Cherubim- mean to guard or cover they are constantly around God's throne in worship. - They also guarded the TREE OF LIFE there in Eden.
Genesis 3: 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
>>Ezekiel describes them as having the appearance of polished brass and their movements were flashes like lightning' showing their reflective glory from being around God's throne.
>> Ezekiel's Cherubim's have 4 wings instead of 6 like the Seraphim in Isaiah 6:1-3
>>Ezek.1: 5-11 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. 6And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
7And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.
8And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.
9Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
11Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

* The Seraphim in Rev.4: & 5: are very similar to the Seraphim in Isaiah 6:1-3-- except these were full of eyes before and behind.-- I believe they are Seraphim instead of Cherubim because they have 6 wings not 4.

Let me say right here, whether their Seraphim or Cherubim don't have a thing to do with our salvation, there are many things that we'll learn when we get to heaven no doubt.

* Angels are as real as you and I.
The fallen angels are even described by actions of personality like lying and sinning, remember Satan is a fallen angel.
>> John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Have you noticed the great numbers of programs that we see on the TV these days are to do with so called haunting's?
Some of these folks claim a spirit is in their home, many say that it's their dear departed loved one that's there to protect them.
There's no doubt lying spirits, these are demons, their unclean sprits, and their boss is Satan. It is impossible for these manifestations to be of a human being.
When a person passes on he either goes to be with the Lord or hell, neither can come back, the saved don't want to come back and the lost can't come back, oh how the lost wish they could.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
When we leave this body we're present with the Lord if we're saved, not going back to some one's home as their protector.

The rich man that died in his sin in Luke 16:19-31 ask Abraham to send Lazarus back to witness to his 5 lost brothers; he didn't ever want to see them again, because he couldn't leave the place of torment he was in.
* The demons want these people to believe it's a loved one, but that's impossible.

>>And many times these folks that are being tormented by the demons in their home will sent for a so called priest to cleanse their home of the demonic activity and guess what, they'll come and go through their ritual and the home then becomes peaceful again.
>> This is all the plan of Satan to cause people to get caught up in the cult that the so called priest is in; even the priest believes he cleansed the home.
>> If you want to be safe from the demons except Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit will not allow the fallen spirits to bother what belongs to Him.

Always remember dear heart, the devil has had over 6000 years dealing with man, he knows all the tricks, he knows our weaknesses and we all have them. Satan is not in hell and never will be, his next stop is the pit for 1000 years and then the lake of fire is his final abode, right now he's on this earth directing his demons.

Next time if the Lord be willing, we'll talk about the different ranks of angels, angels are much like the military, certain angels have been assigned to oversee various tasks, and this goes for Gods angels as well as Satan's angels.
