Faith in the Unborn Thing
Hebrews chapter eleven verses one and two, “Now [notice this is in the presence tense, not yesterday that’s history, not tomorrow that’s future, but today now] faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, for by it [faith] the elders obtained a good report.”
Back up one chapter you hear Paul talking about the life of faith. Having faith with boldness, we have been given the right to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way.” We have the right under the new covenant to access the things of God by faith. “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, for He is faithful that promised.”
We are living in a sick, sad and sinful world. Oh there are plenty doctoring the sickness, but they are treating the symptoms, not the disease. Someone has said, “You could that all the experts and line them all in a row, and they would never reach a conclusion.”
Yet in the midst of all the confusion stands the Great Physician of the soul who is the answer to every need, and the solution to every problem. “By Him all things consist, in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. In Him are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Since Jesus is the answer to the world’s need, and since by faith we receive Him, therefore the world’s misery is due entirely to what is covered in the scriptural phrase, “BECAUSE OF UNBELIEF.”
But we are people of faith, it is trust in an unknown future, it is the basis of our pleasing God, it’s that invisible tugging of the elders, and the substance of things hoped for.
So we can have faith and believe for the unborn things in our life. If you have a physical need, ask and have the God kind of faith to receive. If you have not received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, ask and have faith to receive.
Whatever the need might be God is waiting for it to be birthed in you spirit. So have faith, have the God kind of faith and say to the mountain, be thou removed and doubt not having faith in the unborn thing.
Four times the phrase, “because of unbelief” appears in the scripture with application each time to a different group of people.
In the book of Romans, “Because of unbelief Israel was broken off, set aside nationally in this present age of Grace.” They rejected the Messiah, and the gospel was turned to the gentle world.
“He came to his own, but his own received him not, but to as many as received him, to them he gave the power to become the sons of God. Because of unbelief, Israel was broken off as a nation until the fullness of the gentiles be come in.
Unbelief will stop the birthing process of spiritual things as pertaining to the Kingdom of God. So to give birth we must in faith become pregnant with the things we desire to take place in our life.
In the gospel of Matthew we read that, “The Lord Jesus did no mighty works in Nazareth, because of their unbelief.” The thing that hinders the power of God is our unbelief. He wants to save and sanctify men and live His life in our lives but He cannot do His mighty works because of our unbelief.
The Jews who came out of Egypt with Moses could not enter Canaan, because of Unbelief. Here we have an example of Christians who stand on the banks of Jordan but fail to follow Christ into the land of Canaan to have a meaningful relationship. It’s ours to receive but because of unbelief we fail to trust the promise and take the land. Let us go forth as a church with faith in the unborn things that God has spoken and begin to speak them forth in faith until they are birthed.
In the book of Matthew we read that the disciples could not cast out the evil spirit from the demon possessed boy because of their unbelief. For the same reason Christians and the church stand powerless before the forces of evil today, because of unbelief.
Mark’s gospel states, “and they could not.” That is the position of the church today, we can not. Yet in the name of Jesus we have the power. He has placed the word of faith in us, it is in our mouth. Let us speak it forth and have faith in the unborn things to leap forth.
So, the spirit of unbelief accounts for all the world’s woes. The Jews were broken off, the unsaved fail to know the power of Christ, unhappy Christians do not live in the Promised Land and weak Christians cannot prevail against the devil, and it’s because of unbelief.
Jesus said, “According to your faith be it unto you.” We may go from book to book, from lecture to lecture reaching for the magic secret for the abundant life, and all the while here is the key, and there is no other. OUR LIFE WILL BE IN PROPORTION TO OUR FAITH.
It’s according to you faith, not your fate, nor fortune. “For ones life consists not in the things which he possesses.” Faith goes in where finances fear to tread. Our only success will be found in the Spirit, and he that rules his spirit is greater than he that takes a city.
It’s not according to your feelings, ah, there is our pet false measure! We substitute wishful things for practical trusting and forget that if wishes were horses, the beggar would ride. Our feelings rise and fall like a thermometer in April, and so does the experience of the Christian who know how he feels better that he known IN WHOM HE HAS BELIEVED.
So it is according to you faith, it begins with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, by hearing, believing and confession. The word of God is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, we just need to speak it out in faith. Our life hangs upon a simple faith in Jesus Christ not only as Savior but out Lord.
To the alarmed disciples on the stormy sea Jesus stated, “Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?” Here faith the answer to fear, when we are fearful we are not living in faith. “There is no fear in Love; but perfect love casts out fear; because fear hath torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.”
As believers we must allow our faith level to rise above the things that surround us. We are not controlled by the things we see or hear, but by the word of FAITH.
When Abraham received word from God, he believed. God promised that his seed would be as the stars or the heaven or as the sands of the sea. By faith Abraham believed in the unborn thing. Thomas told the Lord he would believe if he could see the scares. Seeing in not believing Blessed is the man who believes having not seen.
You remember the story of the Centurion’s servant who was sick and ready to die, and he ask Jesus if he would come and heal him. Here was a man under authority, having soldiers under him. He knew his power of authority, he could say to one come and he would come and to another go and he would go.
Jesus answered the man saying I will come, but the centurion said “I am not worthy that you should come under my roof, but speak the word only.” When Jesus heard this he marveled saying, “I have not found so great faith.”
God has placed the power of life and death in the tongue. Words of unbelief will cripple the move of God in the unborn things in our lives.
Jesus said, “Have faith in God, for I say unto you that whosoever shall say unto the mountain, be thou removed, and be cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he say shall come to pass, he shall have whatever he says.”
The unborn things in our lives can be birthed by faith, believing and speaking it forth. Calling those things that be not as they already were.
