I’m Gone Get To My Better
In order to give you a taste of the hard life, God test’s you so that you would be prepared to live well in the days ahead of you. Deuteronomy 8:16b The Message Bible
That He might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end. Deuteronomy 8:16b The Amplified Bible
Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; Deuteronomy 8:16b KJV
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11
And beware lest you say in your [mind and] heart, My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth. But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:17,18
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land. Isaiah 1:19
The Message:
If you have ever heard a self-made person talk about his/her life, they would say something like, "When I was 21 years old, I did this...and when I was 26 years old, I did that...and when I was 30 years old, I was at the top of my game....and look at me now. I am a self-made man/woman. I did it my way. I listened to Frank Sinatra every day and did it my way."
The Scripture, however, says,
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God. (Ps. 20:7)
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. (1 Tim. 6:17)
The Bible says that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil (1 Tim. 6:10). Money is not the root of evil—the love of money is. The Bible also says that "God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth..."(Deut. 8:18).
This statement seems to be contrary to what many churches preach. Why? Because God wants to anoint you to acquire wealth in order to establish His covenant. If you have read these principles in the Bible, you need to live them and put them into practice.
Hearers and Doers of the Word
You may know that God wants to save you. You may know that God wants to heal you. But do you also know that God wants to prosper you? A lot of people today are not living in this knowledge?
Just knowing the Word isn’t going to cause it to work in your life. It’s acting upon the Word of God and appropriating His promises in your life on a daily basis that does.
Remember the devil also knows the Word. Remember when he came to Eve, he said, "Did God say?" When he came to Jesus, he said, "If thou be the Son of God...for it is written."
The devil likes to put people in bondage with Scripture that is quoted out of context. He even quoted Scripture against Jesus. But Jesus came right back with a Scripture, quoted correctly, which cancelled out his attack. There is a difference between knowing the truth and acting on it.
I believe with all my heart that today God wants to break this spirit of poverty that hangs over the people of God. When we talk about Poverty it is not the state of being poor or needy, it is the state of wanting, it’s the torment of never having enough. It’s a spirit of fear. I have never in my life seen such a hoarding spirit when it comes to giving to God. It’s as if some of the people live in fear that God is going to take something from them. They say, If I give this I won’t have enough for that...If I give this I won’t be able to do what I wanted to do this weekend. Can I give you some words of advice? Never make any plans without including God! (I’m trying to short phrase this message and be direct and to the point)
If:
You justify your lack and make excuses.
You are afraid to give under the direction of the Holy Spirit.
You govern your finances with a lack of trust and don’t believe God is your source
Your are suspicious that those around you may take your money.
When things are being handed out for free you grab as much as possible, even if you do not need the things at all.
Your weekly bill at the video store / computer games is more than you give in a month to your church.
You think tithing means putting change ( 10c) in the basket in church.
You get jealous when others are blessed with money or physical things.
You think receiving is better than giving.
You cannot believe that God really wants to bless you - You say God only blesses Caucasion people, Rich people, but not you.
If you answered "yes" to any of the items above, you are bound by the spirit of poverty.
Sometimes it seems in our life we experience seasons of drought, it is usually due to the fact that we have lowered our expectations of God in the area of faith.
Romans 10:17 says So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. If it cometh by hearing the word, then we must put ourselves in a position to be able to hear God’s Word, because it also goeth by not hearing God’s Words. Sometimes your mouth is your own worst enemy.
Jesus said in Matthew 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. When I pray I like to pray out loud so my spirit man, God in heaven and also the devil can hear what I believe when I pray. Listen: If your mouth is not speaking FAITH it will be speaking FEAR! There is no middle road, it’s either one or the other, Jesus said to the disciples in the boat, Mat 8:26 KJV And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
WHY ARE YOU SO FULL OF FEAR? REMEMBER FEAR BROKEN DOWN IS
F FALSE
E EVIDENCE
A APPEARING
R REAL
Fear is speaking what you DON’T have instead of what God says you have in His Word.
The first step in breaking the spirit of poverty is learning how to release what is in your hand.
“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” (2 COR 9:6)
God promised Noah that as long as mankind was alive on earth, there would be seedtime and harvest (Genesis 8:22)
Is the seed in your hand or in the ground?
If you have a seed in your pocket, you have a promise, but that’s all you have. That promise does not become a blessing until you mix it with faith and release your seed. Only then will you have the possibility of increase and fruitfulness. Seeds do not multiply and bear fruit until they are released into the ground. Jesus said that He, Himself, was a seed and that He had to be put into the ground and die (John 12:23-24)
Abraham’s promise needed a blessing
“but he (Melchizedek)…received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.” (HEB 7:6)
Abraham had a promise without a blessing; he had seeds without any fruit. Although God had promised him a son, that seed had not become a reality. The father of the Jews needed a blessing upon his promise. This is where Melchizedek comes into the picture. He was a king of Salem and a priest of the Most High God. Every priest called by God has the ability to bless people. When Jesus sent out His 12 disciples and later another 70 servants, He told them to bless the homes in which they stayed (Luke 10:5-6)
“If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things.” (1 COR 9:11)
God is looking for people who will release their seed
God is raising up people like Abraham who are going to help finance the Kingdom of God
Success is measured by how much you have. Significance is measured by how much you give
God wants to bless you. He wants you to walk in multiplication and increase. He wants to bless your promise; bring fruit from your seed. But first you have to sow it! When you release that seed and you sow financially, then you have a right to draw blessings from wherever you sow your seed. You have a right to eat the fruit of the field into which you have made an investment.
Finding good soil for your seed
“Blessed be the God and Father our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” (EPH 1:3)
Melchizedek didn’t need Abraham’s money Abraham had a generous heart and wanted to support God’s man. In return, he was blessed with this great man’s anointing. Maybe the reason why you haven’t seen those promises become blessings and prophecies become reality is because you still have something in your hand that God is saying to release.
Learning to Release
Remember what I said earlier about people who say “If I give you this or that ,I won’t have nothing?”
Remember this is how the spirit of poverty works !
There was a drought in Israel. God’s prophet, Elijah, had been taken care of miraculously by the ravens that fed him. It was then that God sent Elijah to a woman who was about to receive the greatest blessing of her life. Elijah said to her, “What are you doing?” She replied, “I am gathering sticks because I have enough food for one meal, and I am going to cook this meal for me and my son and then we will die like everyone else.” I would feel a lot more comfortable being the widow in that situation than Elijah. It took just as much faith for Elijah to receive the seed as it did for the lady to sow it. He didn’t need what the woman had nearly as much as she needed what Elijah had. The miracle was on its way because good soil had just walked into town! She sowed her seed. She released her final meal to bless the man of God. In exchange, Elijah the prophet declared: “For thus says the LORD God of Israel, The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.”
There was a miracle that was unlocked in Elijah for that widow woman. The miracle that was unlocked in him didn’t come out until this widow woman made a demand on her faith and sowed into him. As a result there was abundance, there was increase, there was prosperity, there was multiplication. This is to be expected from a God who said in Phillippians 4:19:
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
It doesn’t have anything to do with your money. It has to do with your faith. It is not your money that God rewards; it is your faith. The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him…”
Our goal for being free from the spirit of poverty is not just so that we can have things that we need or want, but so that we can do the will of God, without hindrance from either physical or spiritual depravity. When the world witnesses our freedom, it will start asking for the answers that we have. When we are freed from the yoke of the spirit of poverty, our freedom will be manifested in the natural as well as the spiritual. Spiritual authority will always have dominion in the natural realm as well, just as the Lord’s spiritual authority was manifested by His healing the sick, raising the dead, and even multiplying food.
There will be frustration in our lives if we do not fulfill what we have been given the natural talents to do, but that frustration is even greater if we do not fulfill our spiritual destinies. Like the first generation of Israel which left Egypt, called to go into the Promised Land, yet spending their lives wandering in circles in the wilderness, most people do the same thing. They spend their lives wandering in circles.
God does not want you to live in the frustration, or boredom, that comes from not walking in the purpose that you were made for. He wants you to live in a land "flowing with milk and honey" (Exodus 3:8), which is a land with much fruit. He wants you to have the indescribable pleasure of knowing that you have done His will, that you have accomplished all that He put you on this earth to accomplish. The first step to getting out of your wilderness is believing that He has something better for you and that He is able to bring you into it.
So The Power Is In Us
"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.."
(Eph. 3:20 NASB)
I know that we all want God to do more for us far more than we are able to ask or think. This scripture tells us that God’s power is able to do far more than we dare to ask or even imagine.
God’s ABILITY is connected with His WILLINGNESS to do for His people. There are no LIMITATIONS in getting things from God. 2 Peter 1:4 say’s Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
But the truth is that God’s power works according to the power that is in us. We are often looking for God to do something to help us and change our situations, but what about your taking your unwillingness, your reluctancy, to trust in the ability of God and casting it OFF!
2 Corinthians 10:3 - 5 say’s
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
When your reluctant - Your not ready, your not eager or prepared to do something. i.e. You don’t want that responsibility. In the last message I said that God wants you to know that He is obligated to you by the Promise He made. When God told you He was going to bless you! He say’s " NOW I HAVE TO GET YOU IN A POSITION TO RECEIVE MY BLESSING, MY FAVOR!
TELL SOMEBODY," I’M GETTING IN POSITION CAUSE I’M GONE GET TO MY BETTER!" IT’S MY TIME! I’M GONE GET MY BLESSING!
The Message Bible says: "God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us."
As God’s power manifests in you, it makes you a master of your circumstances. It provides a lift to the soul and assures us that the Word of God is absolutely true for us now.
