# 27~ FORTY 4~ ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY~ THIRTY THREE~ 5-5-12
BIBLE NUMBER MEANINGS
Today we’ll continue talking about the number FORTY. FORTY stands for; TRIALS, PROBATION AND TESTINGS ~ the number FORTY is found 189 times in our KJ Bible.
Before we begin today I want to say once again, as I have pointed out several times before, I obtained much of this information from Evangelist Ed Vallowe, and I highly recommend his book. I certainly take no credit for the many hours that he surely must have put into this study and other writers as well.
The Bible was written by FORTY different people -- and FORTY pictures probation. The people of the WORLD (four) are under TESTING now, and Gods GRACE (five) is saving all that call on Him for SALVATION (fourteen).
* There are EIGHT periods of testing revealed in the Word of God.
1- Moses was in the mountain of Sinai FORTY days and nights receiving the LAW. Exodus 24:18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
While he was gone these FORTY days the people became impatient and said to Aaron, Exodus 32:1 Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what has become of him.
2. This led to the making of the golden calf of Exodus 32:2-7. Thus, Israel fell under these FORTY days of testing. Deuteronomy 9:18 -25
3. After this they were tried or tested FORTY years in the wilderness.
Numbers 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even FORTY days, each day a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even FORTY years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. - (you shall know My rejection)
4. FORTY days Elijah spent in Horeb after his experience on Mt. Carmel.
I Kings 19:8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat FORTY days and FORTY nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
5. Jonah prophesied that Nineveh would be destroyed unless they repent.
Jonah 3:4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
6 FORTY days Ezekiel laid on his right side to symbolize the FORTY years of Judah’s transgression.
Ezekiel 4:6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
7. The Lord Jesus was tempted FORTY days and nights of the Devil.
Luke 4:1-2 And Jesus, being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being FORTY days tempted of the Devil.
8. FORTY days Jesus was seen of His disciples speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion* (crucifixion) by many infallible proofs, being seen of them FORTY days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
Moses spent FORTY years in Egypt; FORTY years in the desert; FORTY years with Israel in the wilderness. These years were times of trials, testing and temptations.--120 years.
The TWELVE spies were commissioned to go and search out the land of Canaan to see if it was good or bad; fat or lean; wooded or barren. And they returned from searching of the land after FORTY days.
Numbers 13:25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.
The reigns of Saul, David, and Solomon each lasted FORTY years.
Goliath defied Israel for FORTY days.
Elijah fastened FORTY days and FORTY nights.
Jesus appeared ELEVEN (Judgment) times during FORTY days after His Resurrection. (THREE)
Punishment by flogging was limited to FORTY stripes save one.
All these instances show that God was not hasty in His judgments, but gave man ample time for a fair trial.

* Listen, there are three Forty’s to do with Moses life; Moses spent FORTY years in Egypt; FORTY years in the desert; FORTY years with Israel in the wilderness. These years were times of trials, testing and temptations.
3 X 40 = ONE HUNDRED and TWENTY years. The number ONE HUNDRED and TWENTY is found 26 times in our KJ Bible, as "an hundred and twenty"
The number ONE HUNDRED and TWENTY points to "A DIVINE PERIOD OF PROBATION."
This truth to do with PROBATION is revealed in the days preceding the Flood:
Genesis 6:3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an HUNDRED and TWENTY years.
When this number is applied to people it points to a DIVINELY appointed number during a period of waiting.
Acts 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an HUNDRED and TWENTY.
* It is also seen in the number of those who returned from Babylon.
Nehemiah 7:66 The whole congregation together was FORTY and TWO thousands THREE HUNDRED and THREESCORE.
This number 42,360 is the factor of ONE HUNDRED and TWENTY x 353 = 42,360
It is also a factor on the number of the men who went up out of Egypt with Moses during the Exodus -"means exit". - Not counting women and children, not counting the Egyptians that went with them, perhaps two to three million altogether.
Exodus 12:37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot who were men, besides children.
-- 600,000 being ONE HUNDRED and TWENTY x 5000 = 600,000
----------
* Also ONE HUNDRED and TWENTY is a factor of the 144,000 males who will be sealed from the Twelve Tribes of Israel, these will go unhindered through the great Tribulation, as they will be preaching "the gospel of the Kingdom".
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
144,000 being ONE HUNDRED and TWENTY x 1200 = 144,000 that we read about in Rev.7:1-8 and also in Rev.14:1 & 3 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.--vs.3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. 4These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. -- notice, all males, all virgins.
Let me say right here, these 144,000 are not here today, they don’t come on the scene until the true Church is caught away, the church leaves in chapter 4:-- these true Jehovah witnesses come in chapter 7:
There are people that are with us today that claim to be Jehovah’s witnesses; these will still remain here when the true church is gone.

* Now let’s look at the number THIRTY THREE for a few minutes.
The number THIRTY THREE is connected to promise or the promises of God. It is found six times in our KJ Bible and all in the O.T.
* The THIRTY THIRD time Noah’s name is used in the Bible, God promised to never again destroy the world with a flood and sealed His promise with the sign of the rainbow.
Genesis 9:12-17 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: 15And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. 17And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

* The THIRTY THIRD time Abraham’s name is used in the Bible, Isaac -- the child of promise -- was born.
Genesis 17:15 -16 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. 16And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: -- (promise)
Genesis 21:1-3 And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, (promised) and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. 2For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
-----------
* The THIRTY THIRD time Jacob’s name is mentioned in the Bible he promised to give a tenth of all he had to God.
Gen. 28:20-22 And Jacob vowed a vow, (promise) saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 21So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God: 22And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
----------
* At the age of THIRTY THREE, Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected from the dead, to fulfill all the promises concerning the Messiah. -- Through His death, burial, and resurrection, we have the promise to live with Him forever.
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Thirty is the number for His BLOOD; and THREE is the number for the resurrection. --because of the BLOOD OF CHRIST we have the PROMISE of a glorious RESURRECTION
