The Anointing- the Results Romans 8:9-10NLT
The anointing is for all believers, and for every believer to serve. This anointing comes into activity as we serve- period.
For every believer, sadly especially Pentecostal believer’s very little is said, or honored about Pentecost. Pentecostal Sunday is May the 27th. Pentecostal Sunday is as important to Christianity as Jesus’ birth and His resurrection.
Most traditional church’s pay tribute to this date without understanding its importance. Many try to gain knowledge only of this event, but Pentecostal Sunday is as important today as it was for the early church.
FYI: This is going to change.
This unction comes because of a promise made from Jesus. The anointing isn’t oil, or some special cloth. No, it’s a special gifts given to every believer until Jesus returns.
Romans 8: 9-10NLT But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.
AW Tozer once said, “Wise leaders should have known that the human heart cannot exist in a vacuum. If Christians are forbidden to enjoy the wine of the Spirit they will turn to the wine of the flesh....Christ died for our hearts and the Holy Spirit wants to come and satisfy them.”
If there is no evidence of the Holy Spirit living in one’s own home, no evidence of of His presence by the fruit He produces, a person has no legitimate claim to Christ as Lord and Savior.
John 15 states, that every individual will be known by their fruit. Your body is unredeemed because of sin, His Spirit is life because of righteousness. As the Holy Spirit is real within, ‘one’ cannot separate their recreative Spirit from the Holy Spirit.
The evidence or lack of evidence of the Holy Spirit is found in the book of Galatians. Paul had come into an understanding of the Spirit led life verses the sinful nature’s life.
Galatians 5:19-23NLT When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery,
hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Note: This doesn’t mean that the person who is truly born again won’t yield to their lower nature; however, this person will know right from wrong.
1 Corinthians 6:19NIV Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
There was an Italian man who decided to sell everything he had to immigrate to the United States during the turn of the 20th century. He barely had enough money to buy a ticket to a ship to the U.S. Because he didn't have much money left, he went and bought some cheese and crackers to eat during the journey to the U.S. So everyday, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, he ate his cheese and
crackers. While he was eating this, everybody else was in the ship's dining hall. He could smell the aroma of lobster,
filet mignon, and other delicious food. He was getting sick and tired of eating just cheese and crackers. On the 6th day of the journey, he went to the captain and said, "I'll do anything you want. I'll do the dishes. Clean the bathroom. Sweep the floor. Anything! Just let me have one meal in the dining room." Then, the captain looking perplexed,
said to him, "But sir, the meals are included with the ticket."
God did not call us to live cheese and cracker lives. Meals are included with the ticket. (God didn’t allow His Son to say, “Well good luck!” No, He sent us the whole dinning hall!)
After Jesus’ resurrection, but before His accession Jesus spoke unto His followers in Luke 24:49-53NLT “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” 50 Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. 52 So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled
with great joy. 53 And they spent all of their time in the Temple, praising God.
Acts 1:12-15NLT Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, a distance of half a mile. 13 When they arrived, they went to the upstairs room of the house where they were staying. Here are the names of those who were present: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (the Zealot), and Judas (son of James). 14 They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. 15 During this time, when about 120 believers were together in one place, Peter stood up and addressed them.
Of course Peter address’ Judas’ suicide, and begins the process to appoint another man to serve in Judas’ place. Matthias becomes the twelfth man disciple!
Again, Acts 1:14NLT They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.
“As we come together to seek God, intimate fellowship occurs, and good things happen.”
Acts 2:1-4CEB When Pentecost Day arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound from heaven like the howling of a fierce wind filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be individual flames of fire alighting on each one of them. 4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them to speak.
These men and women received the promise; the One who would be with them, igniting them with hunger, while allowing other’s to experience this wind (The breathe of God) who in-return ushered fire, upon the tongue (To cleanse, change and burn away the old speech, the old man- making room for the new.)
Say, A fresh word; a fresh tongue! (Evil reports changed, back bitting removed, blessings restored.)
For the genuine believer, everyday should become Pentecostal Sunday.
