# 25 ~ "THIRTY ~ FORTY" ~ BIBLE NUMBER MEANINGS 4-21-12

THIRTY is the number for THE BLOOD OF CHRIST & DEDICATION:

The number thirty is found in our KJ Bible 198 times.

Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus for THIRTY pieces of silver.

Matthew 26:14-16 then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, 15And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. 16And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

Matthew 27:1-10 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: 2And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. 3Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 7And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. 8Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. 9Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; 10And gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.

This teaches that THIRTY is the number for THE BLOOD OF CHRIST. REDEMPTION is through the BLOOD of Christ.

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have REDEMPTION through His BLOOD.

* Christ came to redeem men from the law.

Galatians 4:4-5 God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to REDEEM** them that were under the LAW.

"REDEEM", according to the dictionary means, (To recover ownership of, by paying a specified sum)

Remember; TWENTY is the number for REDEMPTION, TEN the number for the LAW when added together is THIRTY, the price of REDEMPTION from the LAW, which was the BLOOD of CHRIST.

And another thought is, TWENTY FIVE is the number for FORGIVENESS OF SINS and FIVE is the number of GRACE, this also amounts to THIRTY.

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have REDEMPTION through His BLOOD, the FORGIVENESS of sins, according to the riches of HIS GRACE.

Notice, it says "In whom we have REDEMPTION through His BLOOD" (WE HAVE) present tense, not going to have, but we have it now.

* The THIRTIETH time the name of Noah is found is in:

Genesis 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

21And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; --

Paul said in Ephesians 5:2 -- Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

So the THIRTIETH time Noah’s name is mentioned there is a picture of the BLOOD OF CHRIST being shed.

* The number THIRTY is also connected with the LIFE of CHRIST: - DEDICATION

Jesus began His public ministry at the age of THIRTY.

Luke 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age - -

According to the law of God, the Priests could not serve in his capacity until he was THIRTY years of age. This was the AGE OF DEDICATION for offering the BLOOD upon the altar. Numbers 4:3 From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

Jesus is our High Priest and to fulfill the plan of His Father, He would not, and could not, begin His public ministry younger than THIRTY years of age, thus fulfilling the requirements of PRIESTHOOD.

------------------

* John the Baptist was of the priestly tribe. -- Which was the tribe of LEVY.

His father was a Priest, named Zacharias, he had been praying for a son; let’s remember that both he and his wife Elisabeth were now well stricken in years.

Luke 1:13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Notice --Zacharias & Elisabeth did not choose Johns name.

Mary & Elizabeth were cousins, so this would mean that Jesus and John were kin.

Luke 1:35-36 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, ---so it seem to me that John would be six months older than Jesus.

* Allow me to say here too, that John and James, the sons of Zebudee and Salome were also kin to Jesus as Salome and Mary are said to be sisters.

Matthew 4:21 And going on from thence, He saw (Jesus) other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father.

John 19: 25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, -

Mark 15:40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, ** (the mother of Jesus) and Salome.

---------------------

The first born son was to be a priest, (speaking of the Levites) John was the first born of Zacharias and Elisabeth.

John the baptizer began his public ministry six months before Jesus after reaching the age of THIRTY.

As our High Priest, Christ is to offer the BLOOD upon the altar before God for the atonement for sins. John prepared the way for the High Priest the Lord Jesus Christ.

* The goat’s hair curtains on the Tabernacle were THIRTY cubits long. (Exodus 26:7-8)

ELEVEN is the number for JUDGMENT.

The ELEVEN curtains of goat’s hair represent Jesus bearing the judgment for our sins; He did this when His BLOOD was shed on the cross.

The BLOOD is represented by the THIRTY cubits, the length of the curtains.

FIVE of the goat’s hair curtains were coupled together, and the other SIX were coupled together. (Exodus 26:9)

Then they both were fastened together with FIFTY taches ** of brass, (vs. 10-11) -- (loops and rings)

The sixth curtain was doubled over the forefront of the Tabernacle. This made the brass taches in the goat’s hair curtains as well as the gold taches in the linen curtains to come over the veil.

Exodus 26.33 Thou shalt hang up the veil under the taches. And also in verse 9.

This veil represents the flesh of Jesus that was rent on the cross.

Hebrews 10.19-20 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

So in the veil is displayed a picture of the cross. ----- The BLOOD of the cross is portrayed in the length of the goat’s hair curtains, THIRTY cubits meeting at the veil. ---- Judgment being met by the BLOOD of Christ which was shed on the cross is shown by the number of goat’s hair curtains, ELEVEN.

* FORTY ~ TRIALS, PROBATION AND TESTINGS ~ The number FORTY is found 189 times in our KJ Bible.

We’re told that Israel had FIFTEEN periods of Probation in the Bible. (Fifteen = rest)

FORTY YEARS OF PROBATION BY TRIAL as Israel wondered in the Wilderness:

Numbers 14:1-3 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. 2And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! 3And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey?

God heard His people murmuring and complaining after all the many miraculous things that He had done for them, and He was about to destroy the whole crowd and raise up a people from Moses, but Moses intercedes for the people and God stays His hand as for as killing the entire multitude of the murmuring Israelites, but He says in verses

26-35 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 27How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

Listen dear heart, never complain about what God might or might not be doing, He always knows what’s best in any situation whether we see it or not, and especially if your saved, God has not changed at all.

Hebrews 13: 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Here in Numbers 14: God severely chastens His people, and He still chastens ever child of His today, and it’s always for our good.

28Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: *** -- 2-3-- Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! 3And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? ---

29Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, 30Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

31But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.

32But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness. 33And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, ** (infidelity, spiritual idolatry) until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.

34After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. -- (you shall know My rejection)

35I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

And after they had died off we find a new generation of Gods people about to cross over Jordan into the Promised Land, and in these next few verses we find Moses encouraging them to obey God.

Moses said; Deut. 8:2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

God was always trying to bring His children into an obedient dependence upon Him by reminding them of the dangers and difficulties to which they had been exposed and from which He had delivered them, and certainly these at this time knew full well what had happened to their murmuring and complaining parents and grand parents.

All the hardships that Gods people experienced was to remove all self-sufficiency and turn them back to a dependence upon Him.

They did not go through all these hardships so that God could finally see for Himself how they would react, but He wanted them to realize that apart from Him they would always be in need, He wanted His people to depend solely upon Him for what ever might come their way.

These trials were designed to get them to trust Him. God intended the entire wilderness wandering to be an education for Israel.

* Moses continues to remind them in; -- Deut. 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee ** (allowed thee) to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; (no one knew what it was) that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

4Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years. 5Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.

God chastened His children because He loved them; He never mistreats any of His children, often they have to learn the hard way, many are the hardships that we bring on our selves.
