#24~TWENTY SIX- THIRTY-NINE - FORTY "a" ~ Bible number meanings ~ 4-14-12
TWENTY-SIX is the number pointing to the GOSPEL, and the gospel is "the death, burial and resurrection" of our Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ. TWENTY SIX is found in our KJ Bible three times, and it’s found as "twenty and six".
In II Corinthians 11:23-27 Paul listed TWENTY-SIX different afflictions which he had endured as a minister of Christ for the GOSPEL.
Let me say once again that I obtained much of this information from reading behind Evangelist Ed Vallowe as well as many others.
Soon we’ll be leaving the study to do with Bible number meanings if the Lord be willing.
Paul tells us what the "gospel" is in;
1st Cor.15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Let us be sure and notice verse 2, By which also ye are saved,
No one can be saved any other way, By which also ye are saved, no one is saved by being a good person, by paying tithes, by being baptized, by joining a church, we read here that a person is saved by hearing and of coarse believing the GOSPEL.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
ƒÞ And let me remind us that there’s not another gospel.
Galatians 1:6-10 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
1st. cor.15:3-4 tell plainly exactly what THE gospel is.
Paul states that the GOSPEL that he had declared was "how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He arose again the third day according to the Scriptures."
Notice not according to what some person said, but according to the scriptures.
The scriptures Paul is talking about is the O.T., Christ died like the O.T. scriptures said He would. - It’s important that we understand "according to the scriptures"
Psalms 22: is perhaps the best in all the scriptures telling HOW He suffered and died on the cross, also another great scripture is Isaiah 53:.
Isaiah 53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. --His death--
Zechariah 12:10 and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
*** 4 And that he was buried, according to the scriptures ---
Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. BURIED
Jesus said in Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
*** and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
David is praising God in PS. 16: 9 & 10
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. 10For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; (grave) ----- and then David makes a prophetic statement concerning Christ in the last part of verse 10.
-- neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
On the third day, when the women came to embalm the body, the Lord Jesus had already risen from the dead, totally free from physical decay, corruption.
The Lord Jesus knew that God the Father was not going to deliver Him from the ordeal of death.
John 12:27- 28 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. 28Father, glorify thy name.
But Jesus did know that He would be delivered from the dominion of death and the grave. He actually died and was placed in the grave, but the grave could not hold Him, and let me say too, that Jesus body was in the tomb 3 days and nights but not His Spirit, He descended to the paradise side of SHEOL and told the O.T. believers Who He was and what He had accomplished and then He led them from that place called Abrams bosom in Luke 16:
Ephesians 4: 8-12 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) GIFTS-- 11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
ƒÞ ascended up far above all heavens -- to paradise which is now up, it’s in the 3rd heaven, this is far above all heavens, Paul tells where it is in
2 Corinthians 12:2-4 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4How that he was caught up into paradise,--
The gospel means good news, as it lets us know what Christ has done on sinful man’s behalf, it’s good news to know He has paid our sin debt that calls for death, it’s good news that we understand that because He died for us and that He arose to live forever more that we too will live forever more, all because of His death, burial, and resurrection, it’s the grandest news possible.
Romans 5:8-9 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
========================
TWENTY-FIVE stands for FORGIVENESS OF SINS, which comes through believing in Jesus Christ of whom the GOSPEL speaks.
The TWENTY-SIXTH time the name of Noah occurs is in Genesis 8:11 where the dove returned to Noah with the olive leaf in her mouth.--
It goes on to say, "So Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth."
Here was good news for Noah, and the word GOSPEL means good news.
II Timothy1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the AFFLICTIONS OF THE GOSPEL according to the power of God.
In II Corinthians 11:23-27 Paul listed many different afflictions which he had endured as a minister of Christ for the GOSPEL.

THIRTY-NINE: DISEASE
The number THIRTY-NINE is found only once in our K J Bible; II Chronicles 16:12 And Asa in the THIRTY and NINTH year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians. This number is therefore connected with DISEASE.

FORTY~ TRIALS, PROBATION AND TESTINGS ~
The number FORTY is found 189 times in our KJ Bible.
This number is recognized as an important number because it is seen so often and it’s association with a period of TRIAL, PROBATION and TESTINGS.
In it we have the number five multiplied by the number eight. Revealing the action of GRACE (5), leading to a NEW BEGINNING (8).
There are FIFTEEN (rest) periods of Probation in the Bible.
1-- FORTY YEARS OF PROBATION BY TRIAL:
Israel in the Wilderness. (Deut. 8:2-5 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. 3And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. 4Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years. 5Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.
Psalm 95:10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:--
Acts 13:18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.
