#19~SEVENTEEN~ BIBLE NUMBER MEANINGS 2-25-12
The numbers SEVENTEEN signifies "vanquishing the enemy" and complete victory in Christ.
Seventeen is found in our KJ Bible TEN times, seventeenth SIX times, all through God’s Word, both the Old and New Testaments, SEVENTEEN is revealed as bearing the meaning of "vanquishing the enemy" and complete victory in Christ."
It is a number usually compounded in Scripture of the numbers SEVEN and TEN.
SEVEN signifies COMPLETENESS and TEN signifies TESTIMONY, so the two combined have the deeper significance of the TESTIMONY OF COMPLETENESS or VICTORY that is found in the Lord.

During the days of Noah, God vanquished rebellious mankind by the flood which He began on the SEVENTEENTH day of second month.
Genesis 7:11In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened-
* The ark came to rest on the SEVENTEENTH day of the 7th month.
Genesis 8:4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
The ARK is a type of the Lord Jesus, we that are saved are safe in Him, and the FLOOD is a type of the seven year Tribulation.
You may have heard me say before, that Noah and his family may have fallen down inside the ark, but they never fell out, and the reason is, God shut them in.
Genesis 7:16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.
And another wonderful truth is realized when we understand that God was already inside the Ark, because we read in
Genesis 7:1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; -- not go into, but come into.
In spite of all the accumulating wickedness of man, God purposed to provide VICTORY in the lives of the believers.

Here is portrayed in the midst of the stormy waters of judgment, God’s Ark of safety, a means of salvation to Noah and his family, this is VICTORY for all mankind because all people are dissidence of Noah’s 3 son’s, HAM-SHEM & JAPHETH. HAM- dark skinned people including the Egyptians-- SHEM-Arabs, Israeli’s-- JAPHETH the elder- Caucasians.
We are in God and He is in us.

Jesus was victorious over death when He arose from the dead on the SEVENTEENTH day of the first month.
CRUCIFIED on the ("fourteenth"* deliverance & salvation) of NISSON, raised the SEVENTEETH, three days later.
We find the use of SEVENTEEN in the details of the patriarchs’ ages in Genesis the 5th chapter. There we find recorded the oldest man who ever lived, (Methuselah) the son of Enoch a man who "Gen.5:22 walked with God".
So Methuselah was a godly son of a godly father, when dividing Methuselah age by SEVENTEEN there’s left no remainder.
His age 969 is a multiple of SEVENTEEN, the complete age of Methuselah. --17 x 57=969
When Methuselah was 187 years of age he begat Lamech, which also divides by SEVENTEEN. There is no remainder--- 17 x 11=187.
* LAMECH was the name of two antediluvians. *(Before the flood)
Of none of the other patriarchs is this true, the only other age in chapter FIVE that will so divide is Lamech’s age. -- (Methuselah & Lamech "after" he was 182)
Lamech was 182 years old when he begat his son Noah another antediluvian who "walked with God", (Gen.6:9) and Lamech lived "595" years more, and these are the years that are a multiple of SEVENTEEN. -- 17 x 35= 595

Methuselah’s name means, "When he is dead it shall be sent," so after Methuselah died God sent the flood.
Methuselah, ~ to be the one whose death would be the signal of the dread judgment to come, [the flood]
Methuselah & Lamech, both are marked with this significant number ---SEVENTEEN -- VICTORY.

Among the antediluvian patriarchs we only read of two, who are said to have "walked with God", one, Enoch, he was raptured to heaven, the other Noah, preserved in the Ark through the waters of judgment.
Enoch was "the SEVENTH from Adam", and Noah was the TENTH from Adam, so here again VICTORY is reviled by these two numbers added together making SEVENTEEN.

In the day when the saints of God shall have been made VICTORIOUS over the grave they shall sing God’s praise and shout,
I Corinthians 15:55-57 "0 death where is thy sting? 0 grave where is thy VICTORY? Thanks be unto God which giveth us the VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ."
God early in His Word emphasizes the same truth that the Lord Jesus brought home to Nicodemus’s heart, "Ye must be born again." A new birth, a new beginning, is a must to all who would escape from the judgment to come.
The Tribulation and hell.

Remember that God reckoned time from one evening to the next evening.
Genesis 1:5 And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Not morning and evening, but evening and morning.
So it was still the FOURTEENTH day of the month when Christ was the Lamb slain on the altar. (Cross)
While the Jews were observing the Pass-over, Christ the Passover Lamb was already slain and in the tomb. His Body was in the tomb THREE days and nights.
Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
* LISTEN:
He was crucified on Wednesday and placed in the tomb before sunset; -- Wednesday evening unto Thursday evening was one full day and night.
Thursday evening unto Friday evening was two full days and nights.
Friday evening unto Saturday evening was three full days and nights.
So some time before day break Sunday morning He arose.
You can forget about "good Friday" as being the day He was crucified, we go by what the Bible say’s, three days and three nights, not two days and a half. Count time like God does in Genesis’s. Chapter 1:

These THREE days added to the FOURTEENTH day would bring it to the SEVENTEENTH day of the month, which was the day of the FIRST FRUIT Offering which took place on the FIRST day of the week, the day of the Resurrection, in which the Lord became VICTORIOUS over death and the grave.
Again we have this truth taught by this number, SEVENTEEN.
I Corinthians 15:17-- for if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

Among the Old Testament types of the Lord Jesus as far as a person is concerned, by far the fullest and most outstanding is Joseph, and the number seventeen brings out this fact as well.
We read in Genesis 37:2 that Joseph was "SEVENTEEN years old" when his father, Jacob, sent him out of the vale of Hebron to Shechem to verse 14 "see the peace of thy brethren"
Genesis 37:2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report."
The Jews betrayed Jesus, He was a Jew.
Jacob had 6 children by LEAH, had 2 by RACHEL, (sisters) 2 by BILHAH Leah’s hand maid & 2 by ZILPAH, Rachel’s hand maid. GEN.30:
Genesis 37:14 And he (Jacob) said to him, (Joseph) Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
Here we have a type picture of the Lord Jesus leaving heaven to do the Father’s Will, and coming down to earth to His brethren according to the flesh, the Jewish nation.
Jesus was rejected, as Joseph was, at this His First Coming. But any time now He is coming again, and this time it will be to rule the whole world, and His brethren, the Jews, will be reconciled to Him.
So the next time that Jacob sees his son Joseph again, it is to find him "lord of all Egypt," and when he goes down to see him, we read,-- Genesis 47:28 --and Jacob lived in the land of Egypt SEVENTEEN years.
Remember, Egypt is a type of the world, when the Jews see Him again He will be Lord of all the earth. He is Lord now, but He’s coming back to take His rightful position.
Here we see the type-pictures, in Joseph’s life, of Christ’s First Coming, and His Second Coming, marked by the number-SEVENTEEN, to bring out the truth that God is over-ruling all things to bring about VICTORY in the earth.
Jacob sees Joseph for SEVENTEEN years at the beginning of Joseph’s life as this was his age when his brothers sold him, and then again Jacob sees him for another SEVENTEEN years before he dies.
Each period of the SEVENTEEN YEARS was pointing to the FIRST, and the other to the SECOND COMING of the Lord Jesus Christ.
And stamping both periods of SEVENTEEN YEARS, as revealing the VICTORY that comes in order, first, "the Sufferings," and then ’the Glory that should follow."
Both were needful to free this poor sin sick earth from the hateful effects of sin.
