Summary: It's my prayer that as we look into the meaning of Bible Numbers that our faith will increase as we realize that only The All Knowing God could have possible accomplish these great truths, man nor any group of men could ever have thought of any thing as g

# 4 ~ THREE –pt.2 ~ THE MEANING OF BIBLE NUMBERS ~ 10-22-11

Today we’ll continue to look into the meaning of number three and then say a few things to do with the number four as time permits. First I need to remind us that that there are (4) numbers that are said to be numbers that relate to perfection and completion, each of these are different than the other three. Moreover, the four numbers are,--3—7—10 –12.

Three is the first of four perfect numbers. --Three denotes divine perfection; --Seven denotes spiritual perfection; --Ten denotes orderly perfection, and twelve denotes governmental perfection. All things that are especially complete are stamped with this number three.

As we continue on to do with the number three, listen, and notice that the number three is to do with “divine perfection”

Three is the number of the RESURRECTION, it’s also the number of the TRINITY, and we’ve already mentioned several things to do with the number three and we’ll not go over all of that again in order to keep from repeating ourselves, although I’m sure we’ll do that also from time to time.

The Lord Jesus three appearings in Hebrews 9: (3x3) reveal to us that His work will not be divinely perfect and complete until He appears again.

Hebrews 9: verses 26 & 28 we read

26For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now (present) once in the end of the world hath he appeared (passed tense) to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

--28So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear (future) the second time without sin unto salvation.

At the Giving of the Law

At the giving of the law three times Israel said in Exodus 19:8, 24:3 &7 “All that the LORD hath spoken we will do” marking the completeness of the Covenant-making on the part of Israel; but Israel could not keep their part of the agreement, man has never yet kept any Covenant which he made with God. As we think on what all of this meant it points out that Israel put them selves under Gods law, they said three times, “all that the LORD had said we will do”.

--------------

The Jordan River was divided three times, the perfection of the Divine miracle (Joshua 3:16-- 2 Kings 2:8, 14).

--------------

The Three-Day’s Search for Elijah

The three-day’s search for Elijah was conclusive testimony that he could not be found (2 Kings 2:17).

--------------

The Great Feasts are three, there are seven feast altogether that the Jew’s partook of, but these three all the male Jew’s was commanded to attend.

The great feasts were three; Unleavened Bread, Weeks, Tabernacles

(Deuteronomy 16:16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles:--

The Sheet in acts 10:16 being

Let down three times to Peter was the fullness of the Divine testimony as to the admission of the Gentiles into the Church.

(Acts 10:16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven--

--------------

The Old Testament Testimony was complete and perfect in its three-fold division—

Law, Prophets, and Psalms

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me--

Then we’re told about the completeness of Apostasy (Jude v-11)

“The way of Cain”

“The error of Balaam.”

“The gainsaying of Korah.”

The completeness of Divine Judgment –as God delivered Daniel from the den of Lions. ---notice the 3’s

(Daniel 6:25-28 25Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

27He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

Listen as I read verse 28, there’s 17 words in this verse; the verse is to do with “victory” seventeen is the number of victory.

28So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian. –17 words, -victory

In addition, the Divine judgment is seen in Daniel 5:---as Daniel interprets the hand writing on the wall to Belshazzar, Nebuchadnezzar’s grandson. --- (3-words)

MENE. God hath NUMBERED thy kingdom and finished it.

TEKEL. Thou art WEIGHED in the balances and found wanting.

PERES. Thy kingdom is DIVIDED and given to the Medes and Persians.

“Divine and perfect judgment”

The Three-fold Gifts of Grace

The Three-fold gifts of grace are Faith, Hope, and Love,

-----------------------

The Three-fold Nature of Man

The Three-fold nature of man is Spirit, and Soul, and Body, the man consisting of neither separately, but of the whole three together.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 -And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Three-fold Nature of Temptation (1 John 2:16)

“The lust of the flesh”

“The lust of the eyes”

“The pride of life”

These were seen in our first parents when Eve saw (Genesis 3:6) that the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was—

“Good for food,”

“Pleasant to the eyes,”

“To be desired to make one wise.”

The Three-fold corruption of God’s Word occurs by taking from, adding to, and altering it.

----------------------

Man’s three great enemies are “the World, the Flesh, and the Devil”:

The World is set against the Father (1 John 2:15, 16).

The Flesh is set against the Spirit (Galatians 5:17).

The Devil is set against the son (the Living Word, Matthew 4:1, etc, and 1 John 3:8; and the Written Word, John 8:44).

Word, John 8:44).

“Ask of Me”----To three people did God give this command:

To Solomon (1 Kings 3:5)

To Ahaz (Isaiah 7:11)

In addition to the Messiah (Psalm 2:9)

The Three Prayers of Mark 5:

The Three prayers of Mark 5 form a divinely perfect lesson as to prayer and its answer.

First Prayer was made by the Legion of Devils that were in the swine.

Vs.12-13. who “BESOUGHT Him, saying, Send us into the herd of swine... the answer, and forthwith Jesus gave them leave”

Second prayer in Vs.17 Prayer was made at the Awareness of the herdsmen of the swine, who “began to PRAY Him to depart out of their coasts”, the answer- Jesus granted their request, and departed at once (v 18).

The third prayer was made by the man who had just been the recipient of Gods marvelous grace and healing, vs. 18-19 who “PRAYED Him that he might be with Him. Answer- 19Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

Light, like God, is three-fold. It has three great rays:—

The Heat ray (red), which is felt, not seen, witnesses of the Father, “whom no man hath seen at any time” (John 1:18; 1 John 4:12).

The Light ray (yellow), which is seen, not felt, witnesses of Jesus, who hath “declared the Father” (John 1:18, 12:45, 14:9; Colossians 1:15; Hebrews 1:3).

The chemical ray (blue), which is neither seen nor felt, but whose presence is revealed by its effects in a chemical action, which produces changes, as in Photography. This witness’s of the Holy Spirit, who is known by His wondrous operations (John 3:8).
