Summary: This is a study of the book of Genesis. Genesis and Revelation are two of the most disputed books in the Bible. The premise of this study is the foundation of creation.

Note: When doing a study on a book in the Bible you use a lot of resources. The major influence for me on this study of Genesis is The Genesis Record by Henry Morris.

Genesis 6

1*. And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they

[were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

Sons of God are probably those in the line of Seth. The daughters of men were probably of the line of Cain. What happened is these begin to intermingle and marry. And the sons of God became preoccupied with evil and lost the sight of God. This is why God tells us not to intermarry. Usually the good turns to the bad. What happens when you put a rotten apple in with good apples if it stays long enough then all is infested.

3. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with

man, for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an

hundred and twenty years.

This is believed to be how long Noah preached. For one hundred and twenty years he preached and warned the people of God but they would not listen

This goes along with 1 Peter 3:19, 20 where it is believed that Noah was used of God and Christ to preach repentance. It says in 1 Peter 1:20,21 that the Holy Spirit was the one who spoke through the prophets.

4. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after

that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and

they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which

[were] of old, men of renown.

5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the

earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart

[was] only evil continually.

Let us go back to Genesis 1:31

We see here that when these sons of God mixed with the daughters of men then it caused the whole world to be wicked. How wicked?

wickedness of man was great in the earth

every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually

The world was so bad that wickedness was great. This is not just sin but it is gross and immorral sin. It is terrible sin. Wickedness. This is evil sin. And this covered all the thoughts and imaginations of the people. Continually. all the time all they could think about was sin sin sin.

6. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth,

and it grieved him at his heart.

7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created

from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping

thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have

made them.

The world was so bad that God regretted that he ever created it. He was disappointed in it. So bad that he wished he never created it. Do you think that God thinks the same thing today? Do you see these same actions today?

8. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Put praise the Lord there was one that God found favor in. One person. Why?

9 These [are] the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man

[and] perfect in his generations, [and] Noah walked with God.

Let us read Hebrews 11:7-AV By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not

seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Hebrews 11:1-AV Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,

the evidence of things not seen.

So because Noah walked with God and had faith in what God said.

10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Generations of Noah.

11. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was

filled with violence.

12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt;

for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Not only was just the mind and heart but all of man was corrupt and there was only one solution.

How did the world get so bad? compromise. Whenever the people of God mix with the people of men then to have good ties there must be compromise on the part of the people of God. The people of men will not compormise but some people of men will. So when you compromise then there is no stopping point.

13. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before

me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and,

behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

God talking to Noah the earth must be destroyed because it is filled with violence.

Instructions on how to build the ark

14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in

the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

gopher wood was the strongest wood it was almost indistructible. We see there were sections for each animal. Then we see that it was water proofed. This is important. God made it right.

15 And this [is the fashion] which thou shalt make it [of]: The length of the ark [shall be] three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

This was about 450ft long. 80 ft wide and 48 feet high. This was as big as some battle ships. And what we must understand is that this was built to hold up to the flood. Not to steer. No paddles were needed just to float. So there was more than enough room in this ark. It is believed that the Ark could hold as much as around 300 stock cars. Train cars. This is about 7,000 animals.

"5. Question:" "How could Noah get two of each of the millions of

animal species into the ark?'

Genesis 6:15 gives the dimensions of the ark as 300 cubits by 50 cubits by 30 cubits, and the cubit was at least 18 inches long. On this basis, the volumetric carrying capacity of the ark can be calculated as at least the equivalent of that of 522 standard railroad

stock cars. A standard stock car can transport 240 sheep, so that the ark could have carried at least 125,000 sheep. The average dry-land animal undoubtedly is considerably smaller than a sheep, as there are only a few large animals.

The ark had to transport only land animals, of course, so that the mammals, birds, and reptiles were essentially all that needed accommodations. The ark was constructed in three stories, and each was fitted with "rooms" or "nests" (Genesis 6:14)--evidently tiers of

cages or stalls--to store the different kinds of animals.

The Genesis "kind" is undoubtedly a more flexible term than our biological "species." However, even assuming they are the same, there are not very many species of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles. The leading systematic biologist, Ernst Mayr, gives the number as 17,600. Allowing for two of each species on the ark, plus seven of the the few so-called "clean" kinds of animals, plus a reasonable increment for known extinct species, it is obvious that not more than say, 50,000 animals were on the ark. This is obviously much less than the 125,000 that could easily have been carried. There was also ample room for

food storage and for living quarters for Noah and his family.

In fact, the ark was so commodious that the whole story makes sense only if the Flood were a universal flood. The ark was far too large for only local animals. For that matter, if the Flood were only local, no ark would have been needed at all! The problem of preserving human and animal life could have been solved far more easily by merely moving

out of the endangered flood plains.

16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt

thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in

the side thereof; [with] lower, second, and third [stories] shalt

thou make it.

This window was all around the top of the ark with the roof overhanging. This is the way some gymnasims were made. It takes care of the stench.

17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the

earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein [is] the breath of life,

from under heaven; [and] every thing that [is] in the earth shall

die.

God passes his judgement upon the mankind and the animal kingdom.

18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt

come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy

sons' wives with thee.

19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every [sort]

shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep [them] alive with thee;

they shall be male and female.

This was not a local flood but it was a universal flood. Several things support this. First of all the word of God. Gen 6:13. Second common sense why would an ark be needed if the flood was not universal. Third Noah himself carried out the human race no other man. Fourth the evidence is all around us. Look for instance at the Grand Canyon. Evolution would have taken well over the years man say to form this but a universal flood could.

20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind,

of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every

[sort] shall come unto thee, to keep [them] alive.

21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou

shalt gather [it] to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and

for them.

22. Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so

did he.

God made a covenant with Noah that he would save him. Him and his family would live and two of every kind of the animals. I asked this question before let me see if you remember but did Noah have to take two of evey single animal that was on the earth? No only two of each of the major breeds.

And how did Noah answer Gods command? How?

Genesis 7

1. And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into

the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this

generation.

Hebrews 11: 7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet,

moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by

the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the

righteousness which is by faith.

Why did God see Noah as being righteous. Why did he talk to Noah and save his family from distruction, because of Noah's faith. And with this faith he moved with fear. God treats us with the same kindness and mercy if we will have faith in him and if we would move with fear. As I have heard the old saying that something happens in a persons life and they say it "Put the fear of God in my life." When we read and study God's Word it should put the fear of God in our lives.

2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the

male and his female: and of beasts that [are] not clean by two,

the male and his female.

3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female;

to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

Some people think that this is a contradiction in the Bible but as we will see God first told Noah to get two of every kind of animal and then he told him to get 7 of clean animals these were for the sacrifice. If Noah had sacrificed the few animals then there would not be any. Now sometimes I wonder why he didn't sacrifice them few masquitos or flies. Just think. I heard a joke once that said,"Why didn't Noah swat the two flies when he had the chance.

4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the

earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance

that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

So for seven days the world had a chance to escape the judgement of God. For seven days they could have knocked at the door and God would have allowed for them to come in. Just the same God is going to allow for tribulation to happen to this world. We as Christians will be safe in heaven but man here on earth will have a chance to come to God. They will be ridiculed and torn apart if they accept him. Now I am not saying it will be like this where no one comes to Christ. But I believe that it will be hard for them to come.

5. And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.

6 And Noah [was] six hundred years old when the flood of waters

was upon the earth.

We will see destruction of this magnitutde only one more time in this world and this will be at the end. God will purge this earth with fire. He will judge the world. Peter uses this flood and relates it to the coming of Christ in his book. And just as in Noahs time the only way to be saved is to accept God through Christ.

7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons'

wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.

8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that [are] not clean, and of

fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,

9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male

and the female, as God had commanded Noah.

10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the

flood were upon the earth.

11. In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second

month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all

the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of

heaven were opened.

Water came from the earth. I wonder how much water we have below us right now. So with a combination of water from above and water from below the earth was flooded. Entirely. I don't believe that this would be a problem Just ask any metorologist.

12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

13. In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and

Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives

of his sons with them, into the ark;

14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle

after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the

earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird

of every sort.

15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all

flesh, wherein [is] the breath of life.

16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh,

as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.

17. And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters

increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the

earth.

18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon

the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all

the high hills, that [were] under the whole heaven, were covered.

20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the

mountains were covered.

21. And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl,

and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that

creepeth upon the earth, and every man:

2 Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water,

perished:

It seems here that the whole world was changed. The world that was known by Adam all the way down to Noah had drastically changed. This makes sense. I believe that what we have here on earth was nothing like the preflood world. I believe that there was new mountains and canyons formed and old canyons filled. This is why I have a hard time with tring to pinpoint cities and landmarks before the flood because it all changed. Everything perished.

22 All in whose nostrils [was] the breath of life, of all that

[was] in the dry [land], died.

23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the

face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping

things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from

the earth: and Noah only remained [alive], and they that [were]

with him in the ark.

So we see two things here: Judgement and Salvation.

Judgement upon those who did not fear God and follow him. Their punishment was destruction

Salvation was given to Noah and his family. Their reward was to begin a new world all over again.

The water is a type of cleansing for the world.

24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty

days.

So for 150 days the water was on the earth. This accounts for many of the miss dating and other things that tries to be proved with evolution

Genesis 8

1. And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the

cattle that [was] with him in the ark: and God made a wind to

pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;

Isn't this wonderful. God remembered Noah. How long has it been since Noah had heard from God around 150 days. For 150 days all Noah saw or could think about was death and destruction. This had to have been a bleak time in Noahs life. But we see God remembered him.

Have you ever had times in your life where it seems that you don't hear for God for a long period of God. It seems that God is not doing any work. You begin to wonder. This is usually a test. A test from God to see which way you will turn. But you must hold on to him and continue to pray and be obedient to his word.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto

thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy

paths.

2 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were

stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;

3 And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and

after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were

abated.

4. And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth

day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

One hundred and 50 days after Noah had entered the ark

5 And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month:

in the tenth [month], on the first [day] of the month, were the

tops of the mountains seen.

For 73 days did the waters decrease.

6. And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah

opened the window of the ark which he had made:

In forty more days does Noah open up the ark and looks at an empty and carcuss infested world.

7 And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until

the waters were dried up from off the earth.

8 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were

abated from off the face of the ground;

9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she

returned unto him into the ark, for the waters [were] on the face

of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and

pulled her in unto him into the ark.

10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth

the dove out of the ark;

11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her

mouth [was] an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the

waters were abated from off the earth.

12 And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove;

which returned not again unto him any more.

Now let us notice a few things first. We see that Noah becomes a bird watcher. He sends out two kinds of birds. A raven and a dove. First the raven dosn't come back. Why? Well what does a raven eat. It eats flesh. There was a lot of dead flesh lying around after the flood. So its meal was provided. It ate the dead stinking carcasses. But the dove when it was sent out it came back. For there was no plant life. Then it went out again and brought back an olive leaf. This is the reason that The dove with an olive leaf in its mouth is the symbol of peace. There was peace in the world and the dove broght back a taste of it. Then the third time it settled and did not come back. So we see two kinds of birds an flesh eater and an plant eater. One that loves the world one that comes back to Noah. We have two natures. An old nature that love the world and a new nature that loves God. Let us read these verses.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature:

old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

John 3: 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is

born of the Spirit is spirit.

Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no

good thing: for to will is present with me; but [how] to perform

that which is good I find not.

13. And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in

the first [month], the first [day] of the month, the waters were

dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the

ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.

14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of

the month, was the earth dried.

This is now 1 year and 10 days after Noah had entered into the ark. What a long time.

15. And God spake unto Noah, saying,

16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and

thy sons' wives with thee.

17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that [is] with

thee, of all flesh, [both] of fowl, and of cattle, and of every

creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed

abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the

earth.

18 And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his

sons' wives with him:

19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, [and]

whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth

out of the ark.

All the ark is emptied.

20. And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every

clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings

on the altar.

21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in

his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's

sake; for the imagination of man's heart [is] evil from his

youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as

I have done.

Mans heart without God is this. Sinful. Romans 3:10-18 Let us read this.

22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold

and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not

cease.

Notice God did not tell him to offer up a sacrifice but Noah did this. Noah showed his appreciation to God for saving his family. Noah sent up an offering to God and God accepted it as a sweet smelling savor.

Genesis 9

1. And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be

fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

Again God tells man to be fruitful and multiply. Man has to start over again. But as we will see man has not changed. There is still sin.

2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every

beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that

moveth [upon] the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into

your hand are they delivered.

Again charges man with the awsome responsibility of taking care of the animals of the world. Man has to be responsibile for this. Animals will now fear man where as before they were probably tame.

3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as

the green herb have I given you all things.

4 But flesh with the life thereof, [which is] the blood

thereof, shall ye not eat.

5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the

hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at

the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed:

for in the image of God made he man.

There is no mention of man eating flesh before the flood. Man may have been vegitarians. But now we see that man could eat flesh. All was fair game. But there is a provision mad no blood. We must not eat blood. Why because this is life. The life is in the blood. We can't live without blood. We see here capital punishment. If a man takes another mans life then he must die. This is only right. What is our law today say? Where is the justice? Where is the punishment?

7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly

in the earth, and multiply therein.

8. And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,

9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with

your seed after you;

Established with Noah and with the future generations. All flesh

10 And with every living creature that [is] with you, of the

fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you;

from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.

11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all

flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall

there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

Here is the covenant

12. And God said, This [is] the token of the covenant which I

make between me and you and every living creature that [is] with

you, for perpetual generations:

13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of

a covenant between me and the earth.

14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the

earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

15 And I will remember my covenant, which [is] between me and

you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall

no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it,

that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and

every living creature of all flesh that [is] upon the earth.

17 And God said unto Noah, This [is] the token of the covenant,

which I have established between me and all flesh that [is] upon

the earth.

What a wonderful and beautiful sign that God has given us. A sign in the sky. A sign that all can remember that God said he would never flood the earth again. Some people look for signs from God when it is in their face. God gives us a sign every day of our life we just need to have faith in him.

18. And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem,

and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham [is] the father of Canaan.

Why is Canaan the son of Ham mentioned? Probably because when Moses wrote this book the Israelites were traveling to the land of Canaan and this would help them to understand where the Canaanites came from. Here we see how the Bible joins together to form one thought.

19 These [are] the three sons of Noah: and of them was the

whole earth overspread.

20 And Noah began [to be] an husbandman, and he planted a

vineyard:

21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was

uncovered within his tent.

This is the first actual mentioning of wine in the Bible. What is it connected with sin, shame, drunkedness and a curse. Because of the affects of wine God recquired his people as a high standard to abstaine from wine.

Lev 10:9(to enter the tabernacle); Judges 13:4-7(the birth of Samson); Proverbs 31:4(not for kings and princes to drink stong drink);Numbers 6:3(Nazarite vow);I Thesolonias 5:6 (watch and be sober); Titus 2:2( be sober)

22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his

father, and told his two brethren without.

23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid [it] upon both

their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of

their father; and their faces [were] backward, and they saw not

their father's nakedness.

24. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son

had done unto him.

What did he do? He shamed his father. He had no respect for his father but he exposed him. From the beginning of time after the fall in the Garden nakedness has been associated with shamefulness. Here Ham refuses to turn away from his father but exposes him. Now we see the consequences of his actions. Now we will see a curse upon the nation of Canaan.

25 And he said, Cursed [be] Canaan; a servant of servants shall

he be unto his brethren.

26 And he said, Blessed [be] the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan

shall be his servant.

27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents

of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Here we see because of the actions of Ham a curse has been placed upon his generations. He shall not be blessed. Man has not changed. They were just delivered from a world of sin and wickedness and now we see that man has sinned again. All over again we see this. But let us read Jousha 6:22-25 God still gives deliverence to anyone that will turn to him. There was still a chance to get Gods blessings if they would turn to him but they must.

Also let us read Jermiah 18:7-10 if any of Japathes or Shems decendants fell away from God they also would be punished. This applies to us.

28. And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty

years.

29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years:

and he died.

20 And Noah began [to be] an husbandman, and he planted a

vineyard:

21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was

uncovered within his tent.

28. And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty

years.

29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years:

and he died.

Genesis 10

1. Now these [are] the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem,

Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan,

and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and

Dodanim.

5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their

lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their

nations.

6. And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and

Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the

earth.

9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said,

Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and

Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and

the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same [is] a great

city.

13 And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and

Naphtuhim,

14 And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,)

and Caphtorim.

15. And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,

16 And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,

17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,

18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and

afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou

comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and

Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

20 These [are] the sons of Ham, after their families, after

their tongues, in their countries, [and] in their nations.

21. Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the

brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were [children] born.

22 The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and

Lud, and Aram.

23 And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.

24 And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.

25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one [was]

Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's

name [was] Joktan.

26 And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and

Jerah,

27 And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,

28 And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,

29 And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these [were] the sons

of Joktan.

30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar

a mount of the east.

31 These [are] the sons of Shem, after their families, after

their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

32 These [are] the families of the sons of Noah, after their

generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations

divided in the earth after the flood.
