Note: I used many sources to study this book, one of my favorites is Revelation: God’s Word for the Biblically-Inept by Daymond Duck and some out of different study bibles.
Title: Introduction of the Seven Vials
Theme: God's final wrath is shown
Text: Revelation 15
1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up (or completed) the wrath of God.
Here we see seven last plagues.
So far we have seen: Seven seals and seven trumpets. The seven plagues seem to be a part of the seven trumpets which are going to carry us until the coming of Christ.
Three great signs of Revelation
1) the sun-clothed woman (Israel) Rev. 12:1
2) the great red dragon (Satan) Rev. 12:3
3) seven angels w/ seven plagues Rev. 15:1
2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
we first see this crystal surface in Revelation 4:6
sea of glass: we also see a bronze laver in the tabernacle of Moses, it could be a symbol of purity. To get into heaven one must be pure. Just as to participate in the sacrifices. The bronze reminds of our impureness. But it comes with a price this is what the fire is. Fire is judgement.
Hebrews 12:15 Are we bitter?
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; (Hebrews 12:15
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. (Psalms 30:5 AV)
victory-Revelation 13:7-10
Anti-Christ persecution
And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. (Revelation 13:7-10 AV)
1) over the beast
2) over his image
3) over his mark
4) over the number of his name
harps are the praises lifted to God as we saw in chapter 14:2, songs of joy
3a And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God,
Song of Moses Ex 15:1-21; Dt 32:1-43 The Song of Deliverance
Ex 15:1b I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously . . .
vs 2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation; he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; . . . and I will exalt him.
vs 7 thou has over throne them that rose up against thee
Ex 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgement: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
and the song of the Lamb
Revelation 5:8-12
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. (Revelation 5:8-12 AV)
3b saying, 1) Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; 2) just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. (righteousness and truth)
4 3) Who shall not fear thee , O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy:(holiness) for all nations shall come and worship before thee (universal worship); for thy judgments are made manifest.(righteous dealings everyone will get what they deserve)
Why fear Christ?
1) He only is holy
2) He will be worshiped by all one day
Phil 2:9-11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11 AV)
3) He is the judger. Just as one fears a judge or anyone in authority so should we fear Jesus in reverance.
5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
Tabernacle in heaven a pattern for the one on earth
Ex 25:40; Heb 9:23
Inside the tabernacle was the Most Holy Place then inside this was the Holy of Holies with the Ark of the Covenant inside. Inside the ark of the Covenant was? A) the 10 commandments (Law or testimony) b) Aaron’s rod that Budded c) manna.
So these will be judged by the law and the 10 commandments. All who are not under the grace of God will be judged by the law.
6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
priestly attire. Serving the jobs of priests. "They appear as priests because they come for the sacrificing of a great sacrifice to the offended holiness and justice of God." Seiss
7 And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.
8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
God's power and glory. Where these are no man could be in his sight. Just as when the glory of God filled the temple
on Him and worship
Christ the Lord, worship Him, Christ the
Similar fillings happened to Moses and Aaron in Ex 40:34-35, see 1 Kings 8:10-11, Is 6:4
God’s final judgement has come. No more intercession. No more holding back now all will be open.
