# 1 ~ THE MEANING OF BIBLE NUMBERS ~ INTRODUCTION 9-29-11
To day we¡¦ll begin a study on the subject of ¡§Bible numbers¡¨, God is the Great mathematician as we¡¦ll soon see in this study, I¡¦m sure that this study will be a help and blessing to us and will cause us to be drawn closer to God, I believe it will strengthen or faith.
As we get into the study it will be evident that man could not have thought of all this, it¡¦s so vast that only God could have put it together.
Let me say here at the very beginning, that I got a lot of this information through reading Brother Ed Vallowe¡¦s writings and others.
It would have been impossible for men of different minds, surroundings and circumstances, and so widely separated by many hundreds of years in point of time, to have written unaided, books which one and all exhibit the same use of numbers as a means of revealing deep spiritual truths, and which preserve so uniformly the same meanings to these numbers in their books which are of entirely differing character and subject matter.
The spiritual application to certain numbers proves that there is only one solution, and that is the solution given by God's Word itself:
2nd. Peter 1:21
"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Therefore One Supreme Mind must have been the Author of all the books of which the Bible is composed. The Holy Spirit was the One sole Writer of the Word of God from beginning to end, though many human pens were used in the actual transcribing of it.
The accurateness of these numbers is another undisputable fact that we have the very Words of God Himself, the skeptics and God deniers find themselves in a predicament, as they can not explain these bible number facts.
The world has reached a stage in history when everyone is number conscious. Every wage earner has a Social Security number.
The men & women in the armed forces have their service numbers, and when their dead bodies are found, they are identified by their numbers, I still remember mine today.
Every life insurance policy, sick and accident, or hospital policy, has its number. When food was rationed during World War 2, every ration card bore a certain number. Cars and trucks are identified and traced, both by the numbers on the license plate, and by the serial number of the motors & other places.
Football and baseball players have their numbers on the back of their uniforms by which each player can be identified.
We have Zip code numbers for our mailing, Area code numbers for long distance calling; practically numbers regulates our whole life, for instance; listen to these numbers as I use them to illustrate the importance of society¡¦s use of numbers almost daily.
Margaret and I were married 12-22-1961, we had 2 sons, born 6-28-1964 and the other in 6-8-1966, I was killed in a car wreck on 4-9-1983 when he was 16 years old, and because of that I found my self in church after 1 Sunday had passed.
I joined the Marine Corp when I was 17 years old on 3-16-1960; I completed my 4 years of active service and was honorable discharged on 3-16-1964. When Margaret and I left California, I drove a 1964 Chevy, we traveled about 2800 miles to get here, and it took us about 4 or 5 days as we slept at night.
We have many numbers in this explanation, people use numbers daily in a number of various ways.
We use numbers to do with practically every thing in our lives and have become so accustom to it that we think nothing about it.
I read that 90% of all the scientists who have ever lived are living today, and that more mathematics has been created since the year 1900 than in all the other centuries of history. In this fast age of space Numbers have become part of our life.
In the Bible, numbers are used to reveal spiritual truths¡Xand one of these truths is by (the actual use of the number)¡Xalso by the (number of times a special word or phrase is used) ---also by the (numerical value of a word or phrase).
God has been called "The Great Mathematician¡¨ and is said to do everything after a plan and by number, weight, and measure. If God is the Author of the Scriptures and the Creator of the Universe, and He is, then the Word of God and the Works of God should and will harmonize.
In Revelation 13:18 the Lord has revealed a clue to the meaning of numbers.
"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding COUNT the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred three score and six."
If then, the beast, that is the Antichrist, is to be identified by the use of numbers, and by counting, does not this number have a significance which is stamped with the mark of divine inspiration?
Therefore it is also common sense to expect other numbers in the Bible to have meaning as well.
The psalmist, speaking of the Lord, said,
Psalm 147:4-5 He telleth the NUMBER of the stars; He calleth them all by their names, Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is INFINITE. ** [lacking limits or bounds; extending beyond measure or comprehension]
Then in Isaiah 40: 25-26, God said, To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? Saith the Holy One, lift up thine eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by NUMBERS; He calleth them all by names, by the greatness of His might.
Jesus said to His disciples
Matt.10:30 The very hairs of your head are all NUMBERED.
Why are such numbers as SEVEN and TEN found so often in books of prophecy like Daniel and Revelation if they are without significance?
Why is the number THREE associated so often with the resurrection of the body if it has no significance at all?
The Bible is a book from beginning to end that is builds upon a vast system of numbers, which is interwoven, with the doctrines of the Word of God.
Such a vast system cannot be explained away.
The agreement and harmony of the different writers, from one end of the Bible to the other reveal the great truth for the inspiration of the Word of God that can never be explained away.
Somewhere along the way the various writers of the different books of the Bible, men who lived in different ages, and most of whom never saw the others, would have crossed up each other had they not all have been guided by One Master mind, Who never makes a mistake and Whose knowledge and wisdom knew beforehand the events of all time.
Do you think God is surprised as to what is going on in the world today? Not at all, even Paul foretold that in the last day¡¦s evil men and seducers would become worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
Have you ever wondered why the entire world is having financial problems? It must be this way or the false prophet would not cause the inhabitants of the world to receive the mark or number of the beast in order to buy sell and trade, it has got to be this way, and it will become even more so as time passes, all this tells you and I that are saved that we¡¦re near the rapture of the True Church.
The precision with which the Bible numbers all fall into their places cannot be accounted for except by the supernatural power and wisdom of God Who is infinite.
Could any man or any number of men even if they had been working side by side together, have devised such a scheme of numbers, and have made them fit from one end of the Bible to the other without any mistakes? Certainly not, because they were all men and men make mistakes.
Let the infidel or modernist or agnostic try to explain away this great system of numbers. The wisdom of the Almighty God devised this system of numbers; and no man or any group of men could comprehend such a thing.
Numerics are found in all creation. Every snowflake is composed of ice crystals built upon a definite symmetrical plan, it has been said that no two snow flakes are alike.
„« The number seven runs through animal life in periods.
After the French Revolution, so called wise men enacted a rest day once in ten, thinking one in seven was too wasteful.
The first sign of anything wrong was shown by the donkeys, which broke down under the strain. Then it was discovered that man's pulse is slower on the seventh day, the day of rest.
The sabbatical rest had to be restored. The reason we are having so many heart attacks, mental breakdowns among our people is we have neglected to observe this one principle of the word of GOD.
Who but God could control the birth rate and death rate and fix it as such where only ELEVEN groups of people would spring from Canaan, Ham's son, upon whom a judgment, represented by the number ELEVEN was pronounced? (11 IS THE NUMBER OF judgment)
How did it come about that Shem, the son of Noah, through whom Christ came, have only FIVE sons, five representing the GRACE that was to come through Christ?
How did it come about that Arphaxad, through whom Christ came, was the THIRD son of Shem, which three represents the God Head and RESURRECTION, which came through Christ?
Christ came through the tribe of Judah.
Hebrew 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah; --
Grace came through Jesus Christ
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
How did it happen that Judah had only FIVE sons? (Five is a number that has a two fold meaning, as we¡¦ll see later on in the study; it¡¦s the number of grace and also death.
Now let us say a few things about the number ONE:
This number (1) is used 2371 times throughout the Word of God.
ONE is the number in the Bible that stands for UNITY; UNITY is an important Bible doctrine. It symbolized the UNITY OF GOD. It stood for that which was unique and alone.
Being the prime number, this signifies beginning. So, ONE stands in Scripture for source, unity, sovereignty, creation, and God (the first, or creative, PERSON OF THE TRINITY)
It comes from the word "unit".
Ephesians 4:4-6 There is ONE BODY, and ONE Spirit, even as ye are called in ONE hope of your calling; ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
„« Jesus also said in John 10:30 I and My Father are ONE.
Here we see the UNITY that is found in the Godhead, and again in
I John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are ONE.
„« Jesus also prayed in John 17:21- 23
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one;--
Jesus here is praying for the UNITY of His people when He prayed that they should be ONE.
„« The word UNITY is connected with the number ONE seven times in
Ephesians 4: 6 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Seven being the number of ¡§perfection and completeness¡¨
There was a time when the Jews and Gentiles were separate, having little dealings with one another, and at enmity** (were hostile) with one another.
But in Christ this division is abolished and they are made ONE. Paul admonished them to keep the UNITY of the Spirit, in the bond of peace. The grace of God abolished this division that was between the Jew and Gentile and brought about the UNITY of the Spirit in the bond of peace for those who believe.
This was done when the two were made ONE in Christ. It takes more than union to bring UNITY. Men have brought about a union of nations in the hope of bringing peace on the earth. However, they have not succeeded in bringing UNITY (Oneness) and peace.
„« However, where there is UNITY there is peace.
In John 10:16 Jesus said, Other sheep I have which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be ONE flock, and ONE shepherd.
The other sheep are Gentiles who would be saved later.
The words of the Lord conveyed a great truth, and because the Jews were not prepared to accept this invitation to come into union with Christ, there was a division among them.
And as we¡¦ll see shortly ¡§two¡¨ is the number of division.
