Isaiah 42:9 # 4 PROPHCEY 7-2-11
Today we’ll continue to point out some of the prophecies that we read in God’s Word. In the O.T. we often read the words “thus saith the LORD” and any time we read that we can rest assured that God is about to speak, and every thing He says is important, whether you and I fully understand it or not.
Listen as I read today’s text found in:
Isaiah 42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
I saw on a documentary in the last few days about a man and his family that had spent a lot of money on preparing a well stocked place to live underground, he said he had about 2000.00 dollars worth of groceries and had a stocked fish pond that supplied them a lot of fish, he said they ate fish about every meal prepared in a number of different ways, they were preparing for the catastrophe that’s suppose to happen in the year of 2012, the ancient people, the MAYOES or something like that had said that would be the year the world was to end.
You would think that they would have the manners enough to let God in on it, I’m sure He’d like to know about it so that He could try to work it in to fit His schedule. I hope it don’t mess God up don’t you? This is sure enough proof that this man and his wife know nothing about God.
The rapture is the next thing to take place on His prophetic calendar, this world is burned up after the Millennial reign of Christ, and that last 1000 years.
While the White Throne judgment of the lost is under way this earth and every thing in it is burned up.
Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Notice: from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
In other words, when the lost are brought out of hell to be judged according to their wickedness, the earth and the heaven will be no where in their site, there will be nothing that they can hide behind. Get the picture, their standing before the Great White Throne and seated on this Great White Throne is the Lord Jesus Christ, He could have been their Savoir, but now He is their Judge.
These will be cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
This will be the set time that God will destroy this world with fire and every thing in it, fire is a cleansing agent.
How do we know this?
2 Peter 3:10-12 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise,** (possibly from nuclear explosions) and the elements** (matter that holds things together) shall melt with fervent heat,**(extremely hot) the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved,**( break down and melt )—here Peter ask a question, listen-- “what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,**( manner of life, conduct, behavior) 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ”
Now dear listener, this is a prophecy from the Word of God, you don’t want to be here thinking your safe being under the ground, even the ground is going to melt as it’s blown to smithereens.
Being under ground is the best place to be when a tornado comes through, but not at this time, the only safe place to be is with the Lord Jesus.

Listen; I want to show and read to us some O.T. prophecies and then where they are fulfilled in the N.T., dear listener, how can you not be a believer? Listen.
1. Herod´s killing of the infants was foretold in Jeremiah 31:15, and let me point out that it’s Satan behind this because of the promise that God made to him back in Gen.3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel. Satan was trying to kill Jesus even when He was baby, any thing to keep Jesus from dying on the cross, Jesus must die on a cross, no other way. Satan knows this Bible. Jesus said in
John 12: 32-33 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. 33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.
John 8: 28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he
Let me say again, Herod´s killing of the infants was foretold in
Jeremiah 31:15 Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
Ramah was a settlement about five miles north of Jerusalem.—a type of Rachel weeping from her grave over her descendants. This lamenting surely went on for days.
This prophecy was fulfilled in
Matthew 2:16-18 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children **that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. 17Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, 18In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
I want us to notice that it says, CHILDREN, not boy babies, these soldiers couldn’t have cared less.

2. Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would be anointed by the Holy Spirit:
Isaiah 11:2 And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;--
We’re told of it’s fulfillment in
Matthew 3:16-17 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

3. The Messiah would be heralded by the messenger of the Lord - (John the Baptist)
Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.----also in
Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
We read of it’s fulfillment in
Matthew 3:1-3 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 3For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

4. Isaiah prophesied that He would perform miracles:
Isaiah 35:5-6 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing:---
Fulfilled in
Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
There is no way that any logical thinking person could say that all these fulfilled prophecy to do with Jesus was a coincidence.

5. Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would preach good news:
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;==
Fulfilled by the Lord Jesus in
Luke 4:14-21 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 15And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

6. Isaiah said the Messiah would minister in Galilee:
Isaiah 9:1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
Fulfilled in
Matthew 4:12-16 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; 13And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: 14That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 15The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

7. Malachi said the Messiah would cleanse the Temple:
Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
Fulfilled in
Matthew 21:12-13 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, 13And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves

These prophecies that we’re reading here today should not be something that we might find boring, it should strengthen our faith, they are put here to do just that, God could have not had them pinned down for all to read and He would still be the same Almighty God that He is, they are here to help us draw closer to Him, if they were not pinned down along with their fulfillment I doubt that there would be as many believers as they are, people might very well say that the Christian faith is just a lot of hear say that’s been handed down, but these prophecies along with their fulfillment can not honestly be denied.
How can people honestly deny that Jesus Christ is not Who the Bible tells us He is?
The Jews having seen the many Messianic miracles that He did still rejected Him, they didn’t believer their own scriptures. Jesus said in
John 5:37-40 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. 38And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. 39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
Let’s be reminded, that the Jews did have the O.T. writings, but we today have the complete Word of God, we have the OLD and the NEW Testaments, we certainly have more light today that they did back then. To reject Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is an insult to God, God gave heavens best for the worlds worst, and to reject His sacrificial death on the cross in that He died for every ones sin is a very serious mistake, and lost sinners will pay their own sin debt in hell and then the lake of fire forever, He died for all but all will not accept His payment for their sin.
John 3:14-20 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16For God so loved the world, (the inhabitants of the world) that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Hebrews 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God,--
