Rev. # 69~20:1- THE MILLENNIUM 9-4-10
Well today we’ll talk a little about the 1000-year reign of Jesus Christ, there’s much in the O.T. about His Kingdom reign. Listen as I read just a few places in the O.T.
Isaiah 2:1-5 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
3And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.
Isaiah 11:6-9 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
Joel 3:17-18 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
18And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim
Micah 4:1-4 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
2And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 3And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
4But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
It’s clear from reading the gospels that the disciples didn’t understand when this was to occur, they thought a great Conquer would come on the scene just any time and defeat the Roman forces and then set up His Kingdom, they didn’t understand that He was to be crucified and die in our place, that there was to be a 2000 year time span that the Church would be called out from among all nations, well it’s been about 2000 years, maybe a little over, but what ever His time span is, it is right.
But one of these days He will call away His Church to meet Him in the air, this will be the time of the Judgment seat of Christ, when each and every member of the church, the people that were raptured will be judged for our stewardship.
And will be rewarded for working for the Lord here on earth before the rapture, some will lose rewards that he or she could have received but couldn’t because of the lazy and or worldly lives we lived back on earth.
There will be saved people there that you might say just got in, they were truly born again but did nothing for God or lost their reward.
1 Corinthians 3:11-15 for other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Paul says that you can build on the foundation*** that has already been laid with six different kinds of material: gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, and stubble.
The 1st 3 can stand the test by fire but the last 3 cannot.
So the Wood, hay, and stubble which speak of bad works will all disappear as the fire is applied. What is the fire here?
Ø God’s word is likened unto fire
Jer.23:29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
This teaches that the believer can work for a reward. If any man’s work abides, work that he has built on the foundation that has already been laid, he shall receive a reward.
-----------------------
2 Cor. 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
2nd John 8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Well since John mentions a (full reward) there certainly must be also a lesser reward or no reward at all, if this is not the case why mention any thing about a (full reward) why not just say (reward) ?
[ look to yourselves}
Don’t look to your wife or husband to secure your rewards for you; it’s all up to us as individuals to look to that matter personally. No one can become saved for you, and neither can any one work for the Lord for you; it’s a personal matter. –David said, The Lord is my Sheperd—PS.23:1
1 Thess.2:10 Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves----no one can behave for us, there are some things that we as individuals must do ourselves.—so if we’re to receive a reward it is altogether up to you and me.
----------------------------
While the saints are experiencing the judgment seat of Christ, the 7 year tribulation is under way back down on earth at the same time, and near the end of the 7 years the battle of Armeggedon takes place with Christ of coarse the Victor, and then just before He sits up His Kingdom He will sit on His Throne of Glory according to Matthew 25: beginning with verse 31-46 ,that judgment is to see who was friendly and kind to His brethren the Jews during the passed 7 years as the tribulation was under way, all that were kind to the Jews are referred to as “sheep” from every nation, the individuals that didn’t try and give aid to these Jews, He calls “goats”.
The sheep are placed on His right, the goats on His left, the sheep are the people that will go into the Kingdom, they will be in their natural bodies, they will have children the natural way, lets realize that these children will be born with the old Adamic nature still there, and when satan is loosed out of his prison for a little season, he will once again deceive millions of these that were born during the 1000 year reign of Christ to rebel against God and as we’ll be reading before long, that when that happens Jehovah God kills the entire rebelouse crowd, this is His way of getting rid of sin and sinners, He has a Master plan.—The goat were cast into outer darkess, a reference to hell.
--------------------------------
Ø After all of that has run it’s coarse it will be time to set up His Kingdom reign.
Ø Listen as I read todays text found in Rev.20:1-6
1And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,--
From verses 2–7 there are six mentions of 1000 years.
Chapter 20 tells us about the glorious reign of Christ known as the Millennium. Mille (Lat.) means “thousand,” while annum (Lat.) means “years.”
1And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Ø Lets notice what the devil is called, the 4 names, he has msny more.
Dragon- "slanderer",------- Devil",- deciver --- serpent- seducer----- Satan-accuser
Let me say 1st of all that we’re not told who this angel is in verse 1, it could be the Lord Jesus and then he may be an ordiary angel we can’t say for sure, if it is an ordinary angel then satans power has been restrained for a time, but we read back in 9:1-2 that this angel, it seems to be the same one that is here, he already had the key to the bottomless pit.
9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
And then in verse 2 we read
2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
