UNDER SEIZE ... The King has ONE MORE MOVE...

I. INTRODUCTION:
A. Hear my first thought:
So many today are praying for God to change the wind. It appears that the winds are blowing
CONTRARY to what we think they should be blowing.
So we ask God: GOD PLEASE CHANGE THE WINDS!
God gives man wisdom: MAN, WHY DON’T YOU CHANGE YOUR SAILS?
B. SEIZE:
To take hold of forcibly or suddenly.
To take possession by force.
Arrest or apprehend.
To take advantage eagerly.
C. Remember our REAL HOME.
An old song says: This world is not my home, I am just passing through...
Heaven is no fairy tale.
HEAVEN IS A PREPARED PLACE FOR A PREPARED PEOPLE.
D. Heaven is a real place.
I picked up a hitchhiker many years ago.
I witnessed to him and spoke about heaven.
He told me he did not believe in heaven, he had never been there, so heaven could not be real?
I asked him did he believe there was a place known as Paris, France?
Of course, he believed. Yet, he had never been there.
I asked him if he accepted London, England as a reality?
Well, of course I do Preacher, was his reply.
I asked him had he ever been there? No, was his answer.
I asked him if he knew anyone personally that had ever been to England or France?
His answer was negative.
I could not understand why he could accept the reality of Paris, London, or Rome if he could
not accept the reality of heaven?
I GAVE THE MAN A PERSONAL INVITATION: COME AND GO WITH ME TO MY FATHER’S
HOUSE...
II. LET ME INTRODUCE TO YOU A PEOPLE UNDER SEIZE.
WE HAVE THREE GROUPS OF PEOPLE IN TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON:
OUR FIRST TYPE IS THE TYPE OF AHAB: the backslidden christian,
SPOILED ROTTEN AND DEMANDING HIS WAY. AHAB WAS THE 7TH KING OF ISRAEL.
1 Kings 16:29 And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of
Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and
two years.
[30] And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord above all that were before him.
A. Ahab married an EVIL WOMAN NAMED: JEZEBEL.
B. Ahab and Jezebel hated the PREACHER, ELIJAH. Ahab hated the word of God.
Ahab and Jezebel promised to kill the Preacher.
C. Jezebel introduced Ahab to the WORSHIP of a gold calf.
The two of them find the POPULAR god Baal to be better than Abraham’s God.
D. 400 false preachers told Ahab --- GO AHEAD TO WAR AND YOU WILL WIN...
1 Preacher named MICAIH WARNED Ahab, Don’t do it!
E. AHAB THINKS HE CAN DISGUISE HIMSELF AND NOBODY WILL NOTICE HIS
BACKSLIDDEN POSITION.
F. SIN AND GREED AND A DEMAND FOR POPULARITY WILL ALWAYS LEAD TO
DYSFUNCTIONAL, SELF-CENTERED CHRISTIANS...
III. THE SECOND TYPE IS THAT OF BEN-HA-DAD II --- King of Damascus.
BENHADAD HAS COME TO REMOVE THE FOCUS AND PRESENCE OF GOD FROM
THE MIDST OF THE PEOPLE. BENHADAD’S TOOLS WERE FEAR AND A LACK OF
TRUSTING GOD.
Benhadad is a type of the WORLD TRYING TO GAIN INFLUENCE OF THE CHURCH.
A. Benhadad is a type of a selfish person doing his/her own thing.
B. BENHADAD IS A KING FOR HIRE... he works for the highest bidder.
1 Kings 15:18 Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the
house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand
of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of
Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
C. Benhadad’s goal is GOLD.
How much gold and silver is enough?
Well, a little more... SIN ALWAYS CALLS FOR A LITTLE MORE...
D. Sin is like Mom’s cake icing, if you take one lick, you have to have another lick...
E. BENHADAD WILL COMPROMISE HIS IDEAS AND BELIEF SYSTEM FOR
MORE MONEY AND MORE POWER AND MORE POPULARITY...
F. BENHADAD HAD BIG PLANS ABOUT TOMORROW...
1 Kings 20:6 Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall
search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is
pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.
G. Benhadad is there to call black white, and white black?
Let’s make SIN TO THE SHADES OF GRAY...
H. Benhadad has come to place GREAT PANIC and FEAR within God’s camp.
IV. THE THIRD TYPE IN TODAY’S LESSON IS SAMARIA A TYPE OF A COLD... INDIFFERENT...
DYSFUNCTIONAL CHURCH THAT HAS NO POWER. SAMARIA TENDED TO BLAME
EVERYONE FOR THE DIFFICULTY SHE FACED BUT HERSELF!
A. Samaria was supposed to have been a WATCH-TOWER MOUNTAIN.
Samaria is a steep, oblong shaped hill with a flat area on the top.
B. While UNDER SEIZE SAMARIA HAS LOST EVERYTHING...
The FEAR and PANIC within ---
THE ENEMY STEALS THE ESSENTIALS FROM WITHIN...
NO FOOD, NO WATER, NO POWER ... ALL WHILE THE CHURCH IS UNDER SEIZE...
C. It appears that Samaria was to have been a place for God’s people but they loved the
convenience of compromising and allowing the enemy to live right along side them.
D. CANABALISM WILL ALWAYS GROW WITHIN A CHURCH THAT LOOSES FOCUS
OF GOD’S PRESENCE...
2 Kings 6:28 And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This
woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son
to morrow.
[29] So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy
son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.
E. In today’s lesson SAMARIA IS UNDER SEIZE OF BENHADAD...
2 Kings 6:24 And it came to pass after this, that Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered all
his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria. [25] And there was a great famine in Samaria:
and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, a
nd the fourth part of a cab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.
F. FEAR AND FAMINE REIGN AND DOMINANE WHERE SIN HAS BEEN THE NORM
IN THE CAMP.
G. Where are all the warriors? Where is the power to ARISE?
Where is the repentance? Where is the release of FAITH?
WHERE ARE THOSE THAT KNOW OUR GOD CAN...
V. THERE IS A CALL FOR THE PREACHER’S HEAD, THIS MESS WE ARE IN IS THE
PREACHER’S FAULT, LET US GET US A PREACHER WITH MORE UNDERSTANDING...
A. Ahab caught the gravity of the situation...
Ahab could not see HE HAD DIRTY HANDS...
Ahab could not accept the sin of stealing Nabboth’s farm...
Ahab could not see the gold calf and the Baal altar... AS WRONG.
2 Kings 6:31 Then Ahab said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the
son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.
B. YOU WILL NEVER REPENT AS LONG AS YOU THINK YOU ARE RIGHT.
C. Ahab is the King, Ahab is the boss.
If we can just RID OURSELVES OF THIS NEGATIVE PREACHER, WE WILL HAVE
PLENTY?
VI. THERE IS A FOURTH TYPE IN TODAY’S LESSON... THE FOUR LEPEROUS MEN
SITTING OUTSIDE THE CAMP...
A. To the physical eyes, the 4 leperous men are weak and sickly.
B. Yet, while these apparently useless men are outside the camp they have several options.
C. OPTION 1: SIT HERE UNTIL WE DIE?
2 Kings 7:3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and
they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
D. OPTION 2: GO AND STAY IN THE CITY, GO INTO SAMARIA AND STARVE TO DEATH.
2 Kings 7:4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall
die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the
host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
E. OPTION 3: LET US HEAD TOWARDS THE ENEMY’S CAMP...
MAYBE GOD WILL DO SOMETHING FOR US...
VII. WE NEED SOME MOVERS AND SHAKERS... WE NEED SOME IGNITORS...
ARISE FAITH!
A. God is depending on you.
Don’t sit idle! Get up and walk toward the problem.
Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
B. We are more than a conqueror.
Jesus needs some hands and some feet.
Philip. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
C. I CAN --- IF I WANT TOO...
IS THE WANT TOO IN THE CAMP?
Psalm 68:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm or Song of David.
Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
VIII. THERE IS EXCITEMENT IN BLESSINGS...
YOU ARE BLESSED TO BLESS! CALLED FOR A TIME SUCH AS THIS?
A. Have you ever pondered why God blesses you?
2 Kings 7:9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings,
and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us:
now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.
B. We have GOOD NEWS! Will we share it?
C. Will we sit back --- with a full stomach and burp a few times?
Esther 4:14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there
enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy
father’s house shall be destroyed:
and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
CONCLUSION:
Zollie Smith told a story of a world renown CHESS PLAYER...
This CHESS PLAYER was so good --- he became a world champion.
When people heard his name they thought: WORLD CHESS PLAYER.
This man was so good he was known as AN INTERNATIONAL CHESS CHAMPION.
Every place this young man traveled he was introduced as AN INTERNATIONAL CHESS
CHAMP.
Someone would ask: who are you?
HE WOULD REPLY: I AM THE INTERNATIONAL CHESS CHAMPION.
As he would board a plane, they all knew: HE WAS THE INTERNATIONAL CHESS CHAMPION!
When the taxi-cab picked him up --- they knew: HE WAS THE INTERNATIONAL CHESS
CHAMPION!
At the huge motel people whispered:
HE WAS THE INTERNATIONAL CHESS CHAMPION!
The man was in a famous city and he went to the art museum.
He was introduced as: THE INTERNATIONAL CHESS CHAMPION!
In one picture was a beautiful art masterpiece of a CHESS GAME.
The masterpiece was named: CHECK MATE.
As THE INTERNATIONAL CHESS CHAMPION studied the picture, he was amazed...
there was ONE MORE MOVE... THE KING HAD ONE MORE MOVE...
THE INTERNATIONAL CHESS CHAMPION saw the game was not lost.
Move the King!
Psalm 121:1 A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence
cometh my help. [2] My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
My friend, don’t approach God as Ahab, Samaria, or Benhadad.
Come boldly as the 4 leprous men...
The 3 Hebrew boys faced a 7 times hotter furnace ...
... the King had ONE MORE MOVE...
Moses faced the Red Sea in front and Pharoah’s army behind...
... the King had ONE MORE MOVE...
Daniel was called to the lions den... the King had ONE MORE MOVE...
Joseph went from the pit to prison... the King had ONE MORE MOVE...
The widow was cooking her last meal... the King had ONE MORE MOVE...
God knows your case... the King has ONE MORE MOVE...
