THERE 1 KINGS 17:1-6
Elijah was and had been prepared by the Lord to demonstrate to all Israel that YAHWEH, not Baal, but JEHOVAH was still the only true God. For Elijah had heard of reports that Jezebel was maneuvering to replace the worship of the Lord with Baal worship. Well this stirred Elijah up. Armed with God’s promise he walked westward to Samaria for he was a man on a mission. Bursting into the palace, he hurled his ultimatum at King Ahab. By proclaiming to the King that the Lord is the God of Israel, that God was alive and that He, Elijah was God’s servanr. Having made his dramatic announcement, Elijah was told by the Lord to leave Samaria, return eastward and hide in a raven by the brook Cherith miraculously while THERE God provided for him as He had promised. God had directed ravens to bring bread and meat to Elijah faithfully everyday both morning and evening as he also drank from the brook. Through the unusual manner of nourishing His prophet physically, God was also nourishing Elijah’s faith for later feats of spiritual strength. How long Elijah stayed at the brook isn’t revealed. Even though sometime later it dried up because of a drought that lasted 3 1/2 years. Elijah had learned that God would miracously provide for him, but now he was about to learn that God could do the same for others for God was preparing him because he had come to that place or position in his life where he had reached the place THERE. I won’t go into great detail as to what happens next at Mt Carmel with the showdown of the false prophets however I will say this. The word "THERE" is mighty important in the matter of being in God’s will for see when your in God’s will God expresses His delight, His satisfaction or approval on you. In Elijah’s life he came accross a lot of moments in his life where God was showing him and saying to him , "If you let me man of God I’ll take you from point a to point b in your life but first I’ve got to get you THERE." Now remeber it was at Cherith - which means the place of cutting that God would feed Elijah - "THERE". When the brook dried up there was a widow "THERE" in Zarephath which means the place of refining" who would feed him and as a result her barrell of meal did not waiste niether did her cruse of oil the bible say’s.."fail" because it was there that God supplied her need. * Philippians 4:19; Psalms 23:1
Other Scriptural Ezamples of "THERE"
1. When God commanded Jacob to go back to Bethel - which means "the house of God" it was "THERE" the place where he recieved his blessing that God appeared to him when he fled from his brother. He named that place EL - BETHAL meaning that "God is the God of this house" When you’ve reached that point spiritually in your walk with God you can say the same thing EL-BETHEL. *1 Corinthians 6:19.
2. Jesus’ last instructions to the disciples was to go back to Jerusalem and tarry until they were endowed with power from on high, because the Holy Ghost wasn’t going to meet them anywhere else but "THERE" in the Upper Room. They had to be there physically themselves in Jerusalem to recieve the Promise of the Father. * Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,12 - 2:4
