THE BLOOD OF JESUS Romans 5:1-12
Today we’re going to talk about the fact that Jehovah God will accept nothing but the Precious Blood of His Only Begotten Son, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for Atonement for our sins. ---
1st peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation *received by tradition from your fathers; 19But with the precious blood of Christ,
Romans 5:1-12 1Therefore [this word “therefore” is to do with what we read in chapter 4: telling us that not only Abraham was justified by faith, but we today are likewise justified by faith in JESUS CRIST because of what He accomplished on the Cross in paying our sin debt.} that is, the righteousness of Jesus has been imputed on us.
Romans 5:1-12 1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6For when we were yet without strength, in due time* Christ died for the ungodly.*[that is all lost sinners}
7For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure*[perhaps} for a good man some would even dare to die.
8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, *[that is none of us are good} Christ died for us.
9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath* through him. * {Notice not by MARY NOT BY MAHAMED, NOT BY ANY OTHER PERSON OR THING, BUT through Him.}
10For if, when we were enemies, {that is hostile to God} we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. {Saved from the wrath to come as God brings the Great Tribulation on this earth, but not until He has called we that are saved off this earth.}
Paul said in 1st 5:9 9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
11And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the at-one-ment.
12Wherefore, as by one-man sin entered into the world, {Adam} and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: {because of Adams sin, the entire human race has inherited sin} GEN.3: 20 Eve is the mother of all living. - Adam & Eve are the parents of the human race-
Listen as I read verse 11 again; 11And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the at-one-ment.
Here in Romans 5: and verse 11 is the only place in the N.T. this word, [ at-one-ment is found.
The word is found many times in the O.T. The meaning of the word is at-one-ment, which means, the state of being at one or being reconciled, so atonement is reconciliation. So the word Atonement is used to point out the effect that flows to us from the death of Christ.
And the word Atonement also denotes how this reconciliation is brought about, and that is, the very death of Christ itself; ** and when we realize that it means JEHOVAH GOD is satisfied with His Sacrificial death in our stead.
It means Gods wrath against the lost sinner has been appeased.
But let me stress the point here that His Sacrificial death in dyeing in our stead must be received by faith.
And to do this a person must ask God to forgive him or her of all their sins and receive THE Lord Jesus into their heart by faith.
The apostle John tells us in John 1: 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Let me remind us that all the O.T. sacrifices was a type and shadow of the ultimate Sacrifice that was to come in the N.T., The Lamb of God.
THE WORD TESTAMENT MEANS COVENONT
COVENANT, its biblical meaning is an agreement between two parties
That is, JEHOVAH GOD and the repented sinner.
Heb. 10:28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15And for this cause he is The Mediator of the New Testament, * that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
16For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.***
18Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
19For when Moses had spoken every precept [all the laws and ordinances] to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, 20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
As I have already said, all the sacrificial offerings in the O.T., that is all the animals that died and shed its blood could never take their sins away , their sin was only covered until the next year, but not so with the Precious Blood of Jesus, H is Blood washed our sins away, never to be remembered again.
Let me say right here that there was only one Tabernacle in the O.T., only one tent of meeting, only one place of sacrifice. JEHOVAH GOD would not accept any sacrifice, no matter how perfect, which was not brought upon the altar in this one and only tabernacle.
There are all sorts of religions in the world today, and these poor deceived people think their doing what their god requires of them to do.
~ About once every mouth are so I get in the mail literature from a Catholic organization, I don’t know how they came about getting my address unless they listen to the broadcast and I kind of doubt that, I often look over what they have to say, this always makes me aware just how duped these poor souls are. Their writings always wind up with the same subject, and that is, their putting the emphasizes on Mary. ~
Let me say here that Sister Mary is not in this cult at all; it’s not her fault.
Acts 4: 12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
They always have a postage paid envelope in side urging you to send money, so I slip a track in it and send it back. Who knows there might be someone that will read it, God uses His Word to convict lost soul.
Iv said all that to say this, God has a set a manner that He will honor, and it has always been by Blood, in the O.T. as well as the N.T.
In the N.T. we have all the laws of the O.T. fulfilled in Jesus Christ,
Jesus said in Matt. 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets:* I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
In the O.T. law book of Levidicus in 17:1 -4 we read:
1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons,* and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them; * This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, saying, 3What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp, 4And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD;* blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people: 5To the end that* the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD.
The key verse in Leviticus dealing with atonement is 17:11, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.”
Let me say to make atonement is to do that by virtue of which alienation ceases, and reconciliation is brought about.
Christ’s Mediatorial work and sufferings are the ground or the cause of reconciliation with God.
They** make right the relations between God and man, taking away the obstacles that were brought about by sin to their fellowship and concord.
And let us be aware that the reconciliation is mutual, that is, it is not only that of sinners toward God, but also that of God toward sinners, effected by the sin-offering that God Himself provided, so that with the other attributes of his character, HIS love can flow forth in all its fullness of blessing to men.
If man is to be saved, there is no other way than this, which God has devised and carried out
This is God’s plan, clearly revealed; and that is enough for us to know.
The primary idea that is revealed to us in different forms throughout the Scripture is,
That the death of Christ is a satisfaction of infinite worth rendered to the law and justice of God and accepted by God Himself, instead of the very penalty man had brought upon his self.
And let us keep in mind that the atonement is not the cause but the consequence of God’s love to guilty men
The sacrifices of the Old Testament did not actually remove sins, Heb. 10:4 “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. Rather, the Levitical offerings only covered sins until Christ came as the Perfect Sacrifice to take away all the sins of the world.
So there was only one place of sacrifice permitted in the O.T., and that was at the altar just inside the gate of the tabernacle. ** It was the sin of Israel in repeatedly sacrificing in other places, in groves and upon high hills, which provoked the displeasure of the Lord and brought judgment upon them, and caused them finally to be dispersed among the nations.
There is today still only one way to God, only one place where God will meet with the sinner. Every thing to do with Tabernacle in the wilderness was a fore view of JESUS Christ, and HIS work on the Cross of Calvary.
Jesus said in John 14:6I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me
The Apostle Peter after Pentecost declared in Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved
Failure on the part of Israel to come only by way of the altar in the tabernacle resulted in the curse of God upon them.
And this is still true today, God has not changed. Trying to find favor with God through our own efforts, our own merit, our own goodness, religion, and our works, leaves man only under the curse of God, and the sentence of eternal death.
Religion, morality, ethics, good works, ordinances and charity, sincere as they may be, cannot substitute for faith in Christ, and the blood shed on the Cross. Without faith in Him, without His blood, these are merely dead works.
