Summary: WE ARE SAFE IN JESUS

WE ARE SAFE IN JESUS:

PSALM 4: 1-8

Today I want to talk just for a little while about our safety in The Lord Jesus Christ.

In this day and time He is really about all that we can rest assured in, that we are truly safe in.

It’s certainly not in any man made way that we’re safe in, if so there would no reason to lock our doors at night and folks all over our nation owning gun permits to carry concealed weapons for protection, Even our children across the land are not safe any more when they attend school. Any reasonable person can see that it’s becoming more dangerous with each passing day. But being in the Lord Jesus, we don’t have to worry about our destiny after we leave this life.

2nd Tim. 3: 1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. And if we’re not there now I don’t know what we’re in.

Lets read about the confidence David had in God.

Listen as I read today’s text found in PS. 4:1-8

1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, *[emptiness; a worthless thing;] and seek after leasing? *Selah. [falsehood; (untruth) deceitfulness}

3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. 4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.

5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

6There be many that say, “Who will shew us any good?” LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance*[thy face] upon us.

7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

David’s life was filled with pressure, pain, and persecution. But in spite of the circumstances in which David found himself, David found comfort in the safety of the Lord.

David realized that nothing could ever destroy the relationship that he enjoyed with God. Here in Psalm 4 David acknowledged that his relationship and security was not based on who he was or what he did. His eternal safe keeping was completely from God. He declared, “ in Psalm 4:8 8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Let us that are saved rest assured that because we have trusted Jesus Christ as our Savior that no matter what might come our way we are safe in Him.

There is a song that has these words; “Safe Am I”. "Safe am I, safe am I, in the hollow of His hand. Sheltered o’er, sheltered o’er, with His love forevermore. No ill can harm me, no foe alarm me, for He keeps both day and night. Safe am I, safe am I, in the hollow of His hand." Today we are eternally safe.

Let me remind us, that we are not waiting to die before we have this eternal life, but we have it now.

JN. 11: 25Jesus said unto her, **I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

We are safe because God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone has saved us.

Jesus said in John 6:47 47Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath* everlasting life.

The only condition for receiving eternal salvation from hell is faith (trust) in the Lord Jesus Christ, Who died a substitutionary death on the cross for man’s sin and rose from the dead for our justification.

ROM. 6:9Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

---14For sin shall not have dominion over you: *** [GRAVE YARD] *

WE,RE TALKING ABOUT BEING SAFE IN JESUS-

John 3:16-18; 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Romans 8: 1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,

Acts 16:31. Paul and Silas said 31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house*

Let me say that no act of obedience, preceding or following faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, such as turning over a new leaf so to speak, or baptism, or any kind of works one may come up may be added to, or considered as a part of, faith for receiving eternal salvation.

Rom. 4:5 5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Gal. 2:26 16Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Have you ever heard of someone having to pay anything for a free gift? If a gift costs us any thing at all, then it’s not a free gift.

Eph. 2: 8-9 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:5-8 5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

8This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

According to verse 8 of Titus 3:** we’re to do good works now that we’re saved, but not help keep us saved, if we do good works now that we are saved it will be profitable to us yonder in the future at the Judgement seat of Christ, that’s the judgment where only saved people will attend, in other words we will receive rewards for our stewardship, the things we did after we were saved.—maintain good works.

Eph. 2: 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

But to receive this free gift by the grace of God of eternal life is simply a matter of the repentant sinner having faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and receiving Him and Him alone

As his or her personal Savior, nothing at all to do with having to do some thing to receive it.

John 4:10-14 10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 11The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. **[Eternal, forever, everlasting,]

No man, that includes ourselves can take us out of the protecting and keeping Hand of God.

Jesus said in John 10:28 –30 28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30I and my Father are one.

If we will follow the simple instructions in the Bible on how to be saved, we will make a safe landing yonder in heaven to be with the Lord and all that He has made for us to enjoy.

~~ Two skydivers jump from a plane at 15,000 feet. Both are wearing parachutes. One of them folds his arms, ignores the ripcord, and says to himself: "I’m perfectly safe because of my parachute." He is still saying these words as he hits the ground. The other skydiver knows he will be safe only if he follows the instructions he was given. He pulls the ripcord and lands safely. ~~

That is where all mankind is today. Either we pull the cord and head for safety or we ignore the sacred Manufacturer’s instructions.

Many people are swiftly falling with a closed mind.* They gaining speed as they are looking for peace and safety in the things that promise life here with gusto while ignoring the "Manufacturer’s" instructions.

Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

We may not agree with the manufacturer of the parachute. We may not like the color, the style, or the texture but it still is a fact, the ripcord is the only choice to avoid destruction. I can insist that is just too narrow and I don’t believe it will work. Then I can be "dead" wrong.

1 John 5:12-13 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life

Our salvation is by Christ and Christ alone.

We are safe because the Holy Spirit has SEALED us.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 21Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Ephesians 1:13 13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 4:30 30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

The Holy Spirit is God’s mark of ownership, authority, and security over us. No one can remove us from his ownership even until the day of redemption. [ redemption of our bodies]

Hebrews 13:5---6 for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

When a piece of registered mail is mailed from a post office, it is sealed until delivered. Only two persons can open registered mail - the sender (if it is returned to him) and the designated recipient. God is the One who sends us on our way to heaven, and God in heaven is the recipient on our arrival. As with registered mail, only God can break the seal of our redemption. However, he had promised not to do so - and the guarantee of that promise is the presence of the Holy Spirit, who is the One in whom we have been sealed by God

Colossians 3:1-4 1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
