Good Morning everyone. I am going to start out today talking little about a man who is very rarely Mentioned in the Bible. His name is Andrew. Now I am sure you all know his brother better. His brother Peter Was mentioned Many many times. Peter was extraordinary in his works for the Lord. I am not going to talk about him today.
Andrew he wasn’t a special man. He was a fisherman. Worked throwing nets and hauling them back in. But what stands out about him. He was the first chosen disciple, and that he was rather ordinary.
in Mathew 4:18 We first hear Andrews name.
Matthew 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
Other then a few times Andrew was with other disciples and they all talked to Jesus he really wasnt anyone special. But he was a disciple and followed Jesus with all his heart.
Another man The apostle Paul describes himself in 1 Corinthians 2:1 As a person who is not perfect at speaking. I know that feeling just as many of you probably do. In 1 Corinthians 2:1 he says: And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with Excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. He admits in this letter of how he is not excellent in wisdom. But he was an apostle. And from what i have learned about him he was a pretty good apostle for not being a perfect speaker. He always seemed to get his point a crossed.
Hopefully some of you see where i am going with this. I am leading up to A question. Why were they men of God? Neither of them stood out in a crowd. They were not the smartest. They were men who believed with there hearts. Men who would do anything for God. In 1 Corinthians Paul is writing a letter to the church in Corinth. They were fighting and arguing amongst themselves. Paul tells them like it is. He never once got rude or obscene. I can picture him now when he wrote the conclusion in 1 Corinthians 16 21-22 The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand. If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema maranatha. Pretty big words that boil down to accursed, and he goes on to still tell them in 23-24 The grace of our lord Jesus Christ be with you. My love be with you all in Christ’s name. Amen.
We as Christians should follow more then The example Jesus laid out for us. We should follow the example That the disciples laid out for us. And i do not mean walk everywhere or anything like that. I mean follow there teachings. Take the steps they did and teach someone about God. Tell someone how Jesus Christ changed your heart. Feel the fire inside that the disciples felt. Not just on a Sunday. But every day. "A disciple of Jesus Christ will be committed to the teaching of the word." Your a Christian you pray every night, or at least i hope you do. Why wouldn’t you follow your beliefs to the fullest extent.
If God is bringing you happiness Why are you not sharing that happiness.
In I John 2:5-6 we are told But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. Follow Jesus. His teachings. His examples. Follow his disciples. The more you share the word the more you learn. Give someone the gift of God. Discipleship has not died. If you talk to just 1 person tomorrow tell them how Jesus loves them.
let us pray.
My dear heavenly father. I pray to you today. Please help these people open there hearts. Help them to share the gift you have given us all. And let them walk the path of the righteous. Give them the strength. Please God give them the strength To do the right thing. Put that fire back in t here hearts so hot they have to let the world know God i say this in the name of you most loving son Jesus Christ. Amen
I hope today every one of you has felt the Holy Spirit. If not just pray to god when you get home. Pray for him to open your heart and fill it. I love you all in Christ our Lord. See you all for bible discussions.
