The Holy Spirit - God’s ruling & invading presence in this world

What an awesome privilege to be part of this kingdom
1. "Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist:
notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven
is greater than John." (Matthew 11:11, KJV)
The Holy Spirit is God’s ruling and invading presence in this kingdom
1. The Holy Spirit rules over the kingdom, always did
a. "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." (Genesis 1:2)
Moved- to flutter over, to hover
b. "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35)
Overshadow- upon or over, to shade or cast a shadow upon
Same word as used in Acts 5:12-15-
And by the hands of the Apostles were many signs and wonders wrought… "Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them." (Acts 5:15, KJV)
There is no substance in a shadow – unless overshadowed by the Holy Spirit
2. The Holy Spirit just has a way of coming on things that he wants to use and empower
a. "And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.“
(Luke 24:49)
Endued- to clothe and/or be clothed with (in the sense of sinking into a garment
#1746, enduô; from 1722 and the same as 1416
b. And what would they be clothed with?

father’s authority, clothed with his presence and power.
