Peer Pressure, the after effects
Part 4
A. What are the ”after effect’s” of “peer pressure”?
a. A loathing, disgust that we couldn’t stand on our own two feet
b. We feel violated- taken advantage of…. And why wouldn’t we feel this way? We gave way to pressures that we normally would not give way to.
c. Feelings of inadequacy
B. Why do these feelings come?
a. We were created to be free and to give that up to the agenda of another, destroys us inside.
The devil and those who serve him, seeks, takes and destroys
b. Galatians 6:12 As many as desire to make a fair shew (display) in the flesh, they constrain (force) you to be circumcised; lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
C. What happens when we give in to the wrong kind of peer pressure?
1. We loss self respect
We know we should not have done it and our conscience bothers us & we feel so bad that we did not do what was right
2. We lose the respect of our good and right friends
3. We loss the confidence of our parents
If you cannot stand up to the wrong, you will need to stay with parents till you do
4. Others are effected by it
Read Gal. 2:13
5. It can lead to more times of failings in this area.
Once we cross a line, it becomes easier to cross it again.
6. Most times the excitement of the thing is not as fun as we thought
Sin not only takes you farter than you ever intending, the thing that looked so fun generally is not as fun as we thought it would be
D. Step out of the world’s negative peer pressure and be yoked together with Christ
b. Jesus Christ sets and keeps us free. All that he does he does for our best.
Our welfare is always at the center of what he does
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
That yoke of bondage was the old law and those who still tried to put it on others
c. The invitation is come to be yoked with Christ
Matthew 11:28-30 Come take my yoke it is easy. WHY? Because hs is carrying it
