Moving On Pt.2 Text: Isaiah 43:18-19
18). Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19). Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
I. The creator (God) Israel’s friend speaks out against His enemies and say’s, “I will destroy Babylon, and bring to nothing the noble.” (The noble are those who place their confidence in anything outside the realm of God!) Moreover, God is saying, “I desire for you to have an eternal case of memory lapse; however, God say’s, tighten your seatbelts because I am going to do a new thing!”
A. Isaiah 43: 21 This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise. [God expects for us to become living examples of His praise]!
B. Here’s an exercise. Smile for 10 seconds, and think about how great God is! Testimony: Bobbie... smiling/She has every reason not to smile her and her husband on the mission field and her husband dying, but she has learned how to pull her cheeks up, and she practices this daily. It always makes her look so pleasant! ( My wife made mention of it to me, and I started practicing this; I have notice as I keep my cheeks up people smile at me!)
C. God has called us to make a declaration of our praise unto Him for all to see! (Our light should shine bright!) Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
D. God say’s in Vs. 19 say’s, “I will do a new thing!” Think about this, at the beginning of man-kind when Eve awoke on planet earth she was already a wife! Imagine waking up beside a man when you had never seen one before! She found herself in the ultimate sink-or-swim situation. She missed her childhood; she steps right into being a wife and then a mother.
E. Did that happen to you? If something seems to be missing this word is for you! “Remember not the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing.”
F. God’s ready! Isaiah. 62:12 And they shall call them The Holy People, The Redeemed of the LORD; and you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken.
G. Refuse to blame your past for your present, or let it ruin your future. You can’t go back into your childhood, that marriage, or a past failure. Three words for everyone in here: 1. Accept it! 2. Dismiss what used to be. 3. Move on!
H. Isaiah 43: 19, 1-2 .19) Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. 1-2 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.
I. Say, “I am His!” Often we hold on to the past because there’s something we think we still need there. We cling to things because we fear we’ll never be able to replace them!
J. But God has more! It you will trust Him for your future. There is more ahead of you than behind you! So get up, get over it, and move on!
K. He (Jesus) has new wine for His people who will refuse to be just old wineskins!
