#2 LEAKING --- NO ABILITY TO RETAIN BLESSINGS.

LEAK:
To not retain
To escape through an opening by fault or by mistake
A crack or a hole that lets something in or allows something to escape Information that becomes known despite efforts to conceal
TEXT:
Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can
hold no water.
My friend, no doubt you have many seeds dormant in the ground. You have planted, you have watered, and you have had to wait a seemingly endless amount of time and you have never seen your dreams or vision come to
bear fruit as you have planned.
Noah built the ark, but there was a point he had to make the boat leak proof!
I. GOD’S SPIRIT NEITHER MOVES BY PROGRAM NOR BY THE DEMANDS OF A MAN!
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
A. Today the world tries to be churchie, and ease the social conscience by good deeds and self sacrifice.
B. The church can become so seeker sensitive that compromise and program selling can tend to make the church worldly.
C. If we look like the world, act like the world, and smell like the world --- WE PROBABLY ARE THE WORLD!
D. I have heard some cry --- the Preacher is not spiritual enough for me?
What are they saying?
Loud, fast music? Emotionalism?
II. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE EXPRESSION WHEN THE TAIL WAGS THE DOG? NOW TODAY WE HAVE MANY WITH THE VAGABOND SPIRIT?
A. They want no fixed home place, I call THIS THE GRASSHOPPER SPIRIT.
They have no roots, no fruits and they follow singings and signs.
B. The Bible warns not to follow signs but signs follow believers.
Mark 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
C. It is not how high you jump, nor how loud you shout!
It is how straight you walk when your feet touch the ground!
D. SHECHINAH ---
WE CALL THE VISIBLE PRESENCE OF JEVOHAH MANIFESTED FROM THE MERCY SEAT AND REFLECTED FROM THE OVERSHADOWING CHERUBIM.
E. SHECANIAH ---
ONE INTIMATE WITH JEHOVAH
Moses’ face shone with God’s glory.
III. WHAT MOVES YOU?
A. We find several things in the Bible that moved people.
1. Jealousy --- green eyed monster.
2. Envy --- a painful or resentful awareness that of an advantage enjoyed by
another
3. Fear --- to be afraid, a strong sense of danger, to lose courage
4. Compassion --- merciful, desire to alleviate another’s pain or hurt
Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
5. God’s precious presence
6. God’s sweet Spirit
B. WHAT MOVES YOU?
WHAT DOES IT TAKE US TO GET US TO THE NEXT LEVEL?
IV. AT TIMES SAMSON KNEW GODS PRESENCE! THIS WOULD ALSO INFER AT TIMES SAMSON WAS GOING A DIFFERENT DIRECTION THAN HE KNEW WAS WRONG!
SAMSON HAD A DEEP STRUGGLE WITH OBEDIENCE TO THE WORD OF GOD AND WITH STAYING COMMITMENTS.
NO WONDER SAMSON LEAKED OUT HIS VICTORY.
Judges 13:24 And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the Lord blessed him. 25 And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times in the camp of Dan
A. MANY KNOW ABOUT GOD! Many know about God’s Word!
Few seem to want God’s presence so real that they KNOW GOD IN A PERSONAL WAY.
I MUST KNOW GOD!
B. What is the difference in dedication and commitment?
That is easy to illustrate ---
The chicken and the pig were discussing breakfast.
The chicken suggested: BACON AND EGGS!
This describes the difference between dedication and commitment.
EGGS would be dedication for the chicken.
BACON WOULD BE TOTAL COMMITMENT FOR THE PIG!
V. SAMSON WAS DRIVEN BY SENSUALNESS. (The five senses)
SAMSON’S VALUE SYSTEM MADE HIM A SENSUAL RELIGIOUS MAN
OF GOD. NO WONDER SAMSON LEAKED OUT HIS VICTORY.
A. GOD HAD TRUTHS AND TEACHINGS FOR HIS PEOPLE.
God’s leaders had a higher standard than the normal people.
B. God and God’s word had warned Samson he was on a dangerous path.
Samson’s Mother and Father warned him.
I believe that Samson’s own conscience warned him
Judges 14:1 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines. 2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get
her for me to wife.
C. SENSUAL MEANS DESIRING TO PLEASE OR GRADIFY THE SENSES -- INDULGENCE OF APPETITES.
Fleshly, carnal
Deficient of moral or spiritual values
Given to crude bodily pleasures and appetites
VI. SAMSON WAS REBELLIOUS AND DEMANDED HIS OWN WAY, SAMSON BECAME A HABITUAL DRIVEN MAN.
NO WONDER SAMSON LEAKED OUT HIS VICTORY.
Judges 14:3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines?
And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.
A. ARE WE A PLEASURE DRIVEN SOCIETY, CHURCH?
If this is wrong --- I don’t want to be right?
No one knows what goes on behind closed doors? ???
I WILL DO IT MY WAY!
B. THREE TIMES, THREE TIMES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO CORRECTION OF ATTITUDES.
C. Samson loved 4 women in his life.
His Mother was the only Godly woman Samson cared to pursue.
The three women Samson found attractive were traitors and harlots.
D. SAMSON WAS NOT A DISCIPLINED MAN.
SAMSON’S EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS DROVE HIM.
E. At first you control your habits, then your habits control you!
VII. LIFE HAD BEEN A GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT TO SAMSON.
SAMSON WAS A BITTER, ANGER DRIVEN MAN.
NO WONDER SAMSON LEAKED OUT HIS VICTORY.
A. Perhaps Samson said: THE MORE I KNOW PEOPLE, THE MORE I LOVE DOGS!
Judges 14:20 But Samson’s wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
B. SAMSON KILLS 30 MEN TO TAKE THEIR CLOTHES,
SAMSON SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEAKED HIS SECRET!
C. IN GREAT ANGER AND MOTIVATED BY REVENGE SAMSON CATCHES 300 FOXES AND TIES THEIR TAILS TOGETHER AND BURNS DOWN MANY FIELDS OF CORN. Many innocent families suffer. That corn would have fed many families.
D. With a new jaw bone of a donkey, Samson killed 1,000 men.
What was his motive? ANGER!
E. BECAUSE SAMSON LEAKED HIS SECRET TO HIS PRETTY WOMAN, HE KILLED MORE AT HIS DEATH.
F. GOD HAD A BETTER PLAN FOR SAMSON, HE KEPT LEAKING HIS ANOINTING.
VIII. BITTERNESS ALWAYS BACKFIRES.
SHE COULD HAVE HAD ANYTHING IN THE KINGDOM, BUT HER BITTER MOTHER WAS MAD AT THE PREACHER FOR SUGGESTING HER SEXUAL AFFAIR WITH HER HUSBAND’S BROTHER --- KING HEROD WAS WRONG.
Matthew 14:7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. 8 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here
John Baptist’s head in a charger.
A. This beautiful woman could have had a brand new house.
She could have been driving a new MUSTANG, not a Ford, a Chariot.
I believe her life was haunted seeing the old Preacher’s head before her.
B. Her bitter mean Mother LEAKED and robbed her of a great opportunity.
IX. TOYS, TOYS? TOY WITH THE SPIRIT AND IT WILL ALWAYS LEAK AWAY! SAMSON SAW LIFE AS A GAME, HE WAS NOT SERIOUS, UNTIL HE WAS BLIND.
HE THAT DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS IS STILL DEAD!
Judges 16:3 And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with
them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.
A. SAMSON’S PLAYING GAMES, MEANT HE LEAKED AWAY THE SPIRIT, AND DIDN’T REALIZE --- GOD’S ANOINTING WAS GONE!
Judges 16:20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.
B. SAMSON SAW MORE AS A BLIND MAN THAN AS A MAN WITH SIGHT.
As Samson lay on his bed in the barn, his work liken unto the work of an OX!
C. THE ENEMY MADE A SPORT OF SAMSON, AS GOD’S GLORY LEAKED AWAY FROM THE ANOINTED THAT TOYED WITH THE SPIRIT!
People came by to laugh at and mock the fallen man of God.
X. WHEN WE LEAK AWAY THE SPIRIT OF GOD,
GOD’S GREAT MERCY WILL EXTEND ANOTHER CHANCE.
Judges 16:22 Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.
A. SAMSON MAY NOW BE BLIND.
THE ENEMY MAY BE MAKING A SPORT --- THE LEAKED ANOINTED CAN RETURN.
B. Samson calls for a little boy to help him.
C. SAMSON LEAKED OUT GOD’S GLORY.
SAMSON ALLOWED FAILURE TO DICTATE HIS PRAYER:
Judges 16:28 And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once,
O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
D. DON’T ALLOW LEAKING THE ANOINTING TO GET YOU TO LIMIT YOUR PRAYER LIFE. GOD CAN USE LEAKING PEOPLE!
XI. ONE HOUR OF DIVINE FAVOR CAN DO MUCH MORE THAN 10,000 HOURS OF LABOR!
IT IS GOOD FOR MAN TO HAVE A PLAN! WE NEED KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM!
BUT WE NEED THE BINARY TRUTH THAT THE TEAM WORK OF KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, WISDOM OF GOD, TEAMED WITH THE POWER OF GOD CAN KEEP US FROM LEAKING ---
A. Jesus was a well balanced example, to be whole we must know God, know His Word, know His Church, and move in HIS POWER AND GRACE.
Luke 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
B. THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH THRIVED BY BEING FULL OF THE SPIRIT.
Acts 6:10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
EPHESIANS 5:18 --- BUT BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT...
C. DON’T LEAK!
