WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? THE ATTITUDE BATTLE?

I. WILL I ACT BY FAITH? FAITH MUST BECOME AN AUTOMATIC LANGUAGE!
THE BIBLE IS FULL OF PEOPLE WAITING WITH EMPTY ARMS?
WAITING FOR THE PROMISE!
DO I SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF FAITH?
HOW WILL I REACT TO THE NEGATIVE?
A. As far as I know, I do not know where one can live without hearing the negative?
I have heard the song:
HOME, HOME ON THE RANGE,
WHERE THE DEER AND THE ANTELOPE PLAY.
WHERE SELDOM IS HEARD
A DISCOURAGING WORD,
AND THE SKIES ARE NOT CLOUDY ALL DAY.
B. I know we sing:
Somewhere over the rainbow you’ll find ---
I can’t seem to get over the rainbow.
C. While we are chasing rainbows, we can fail to develop an ACCOUNTIBILITY
SYSTEM.
We need some kind of EVAULATION SYSTEM to correct and develop maturity.
D. GROWING A WARPED ATTITUDE SYSTEM WILL CAUSE US TO NEVER REACH
BEYOND OUR ABILITY INTO THE REALM OF DIVINE POSSIBILITIES.
Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou
hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and
follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for
he had great possessions.
E. There has to be more than what you can do?
Beyond what I can?
Beyond synergism? What we can do as a team...
THERE IS A GOD FACTOR --- THAT CAN RELEASE DELIVERANCE AND DIVINE
POSSIBILITIES?
F. GOD RAISE UP A DESIRE TO RISE ABOVE HERE...
TO THE NEXT LEVEL!
II. ELIJAH IS WALKING IN ONE OF THE SADDEST TIMES IN GOD’S PEOPLE’S
HISTORY. THERE IS A WICKED KING NAMED AHAB, AND QUEEN JEZEBEL
THE DRIVEN AND MANIPULATIVE POWER BEHIND AHAB.
A. God is going to do something through the Preacher beyond the preacher’s
ability.
1 Kings 17:1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead,
said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand,
there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
B. After trying to correct the King, Elijah runs for his life.
C. At the Brook Cherith, the RAVENS FED THE PREACHER.
D. THE PREACHER’S ATTITUDE WILL BE TESTED?
WILL YOU TRUST GOD ELIJAH?
1 Kings 17:7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up,
because there had been no rain in the land.
III. GOD HAD TO SEE WHO WOULD SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF FAITH?
WHY WOULD GOD TEST ELIJAH? GOD GREW A MAN!
GOD WAS ALSO SEEING WHAT LANGUAGE THE WIDOW OF ZAREPHATH
WOULD SPEAK.
A. This lesson of attitudes was so important Jesus discusses it in the New Testament.
B. The widow of ZAREPHATH WILL SHOW IN WHOM SHE TRUSTS?
Luke 4:24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own
country. 25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias,
when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was
throughout all the land;
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon,
unto a woman that was a widow.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none
of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
C. DOWN THE ROAD THE WIDOW WILL HAVE HER ATTITUDE TESTED AGAIN.
1 Kings 17:17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman,
the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there
was no breath left in him.
18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God?
art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
D. THE WOMAN’S ATTITUDES WERE TESTED BY THE GIVING OF THE FOOD FIRST,
NOW THE PREACHER SAYS --- GIVE ME YOUR SON?
1 Kings 17:19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of
her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon
his own bed.
E. THE ATTITUDE TEST HAD GREAT DIVIDENDS---
1 Kings 17:22 And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the
child came into him again, and he revived.
NEVER WHEN THE WIDOW LADY WAS PICKING UP STICKS FOR THE LAST
MEAL DID SHE REALIZE HER GIVING FIRST WOULD BE SO BENEFICIAL.
Psalm 103:2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
IV. YOUR EARS WILL TEST YOUR ATTITUDES...
ELIJAH SEEMS TO HAVE AN ATTITUDE THAT CAUSES HIM TO HEAR
BEYOND THE RANGE OF THE KING’S EARS!
A. Jezebel has enlisted the aid of 450 prophets of a terrible god named Baal.
450 FALSE PROPHETS PRAY ALL DAY AND CUT THEIR FLESH ...
B. IS BAAL ASLEEP? IS HE ON VACATION?
ELIJAH PRAYS 63 WORDS IN THE KJV, AND FIRE LAPS UP THE WATER SOAKED
OFFERING!
C. There has been a terrible drought.
3 years without dew or rain.
1 Kings 18:41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink;
for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
V. WHAT IS YOUR ATTITUDE WHEN THERE IS NOTHING?
WHY COULDN’T KING AHAB HEAR?
WHY DID ELIJAH HEAR THE ABUNDANCE OF RAIN?
EXPECT THE NEGATIVE REPORTS TO TRY AND DAMPEN WHAT GOD
REVEALS!
1 Kings 18:43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he
went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing.
And he said, Go again seven times.
A. HAS YOUR LANGUAGE OF FAITH SO SPOKEN THAT YOU WILL GO AGAIN?
B. WILL YOU GO AGAIN, AND AGAIN AND AGAIN?
C. 7 TIMES IS A TYPE OF COMPLETION. GET R DONE!
VI. I HAVE SPOKEN THE LANGUAGE OF FAITH, AND MY CONFIRMATION IS
LITTLE?
A. MANY WOULD HAVE ALLOWED THIS LITTLE CLOUD TO PROMOTE
A NEGATIVE LANGUAGE TO BE RELEASED.
1 Kings 18:44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold,
there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said,
Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain
stop thee not.
B. HOW CAN YOU SINK THROUGH A SOLID ROCK?
VII. THERE IS A LESSON OF THE LANGUAGE OF FAITH,
RUN, BOY, RUN!
A. WHAT DO YOU SEE?
WHEN WILL WHAT YOU SEE CAUSE YOU TO SPEAK?
1 Kings 18:46 And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his
loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
B. JEZREL WAS 18 MILES, AND THE PREACHER’S LANGUAGE OF FAITH
CAUSES HIM TO OUT RUN THE FASTEST HORSES OF THE DAY.
VIII. WHY WOULD ONE THINK THE PREACHER IS THEIR ENEMY?
JEZEBEL THOUGHT THAT ELIJAH WAS HER ENEMY?
1 Kings 19:2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let
the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one
of them by to morrow about this time.
IX. I WISH I COULD STOP HERE, BUT THE LANGAUAGE OF FAITH DIMS
IN FEAR AND DOUBT... ELIJAH IS TIRED, HE DOUBTS HIMSELF AND THUS GOD.
THE NEGATIVE WORDS OF A WOMAN CAUSES
ELIJAH TO RUN IN FEAR!
NOW THE LANGUAGE OF FAITH BECOMES TO WHAT WE CALL
A. THE JUNIPER TREE EXPERIENCE.
1 Kings 19:3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came
to Beer-sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat
down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and
said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than
my fathers.
B. WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?
1 Kings 19:9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and,
behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him,
What doest thou here, Elijah?
C. THERE COMES A STRONG WIND --- THAT IS NOT GOD!
THERE COMES AN EARTHQUAKE --- THAT IS NOT GOD!
THERE COMES A FIRE --- THIS MUST SURELY BE GOD? THAT IS NOT GOD...
D. THE LANGUAGE OF FAITH SPOKE TO THE PREACHER IN A STILL SMALL
VOICE...
E. CAN WE BE STILL AND HEAR THE STILL, SMALL VOICE?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?
ARISE AND SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF FAITH!
