Summary: Prayer is work. Life is a battle. To overcome problems and challenges in our life's journey, we need to fight on our knees.

TEXT: Exodus 17:10-13

"So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword."

LIFE IS A BATTLR

Life is battle. We fight everyday to overcome problems and challenges. The Israelites were locked in battle with the Amalekites. At a point, it was like a seesaw. The pendulum of victory swung from side to side. On top of a hill not far away from the battlefield, something happened that changed the tide. The Lord will cause something to happen in your life's battle that will swing victory your way in Jesus name.

PRAYER IS WORK

In the battle of life, you must be a man of the mountain. You must be in the place of prayer. Moses, Aaron and Hur were on the mountain top, while the battle was raging. In our fight against the Principalities and Powers of wickedness of this world, we must pray without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17). Jesus told his disciples that, "... men ought always to pray and not faint." The Lord will strengthen your feeble knees and grant you grace to prevail in the place of prayer in Jesus name.

THE ARM OF FLESH WILL FAIL

Jesus told his disciples: "..The spirit truly is ready but the flesh is weak." (Mark 14:38). We desire to pray but most times, the weakness of the flesh will not allow us pray effectively. On top of the mountain, whenever Moses raised his hands, victory swung the way of the Israelites, but his hands became feeble and slumped. In the battlefield, the impact was telling: Joshua and his men struggled. In the battle of life, the flesh, with all its lusts, is a stumblingblock. You cannot win spiritual battles with the arm of flesh. Hur and Aaron brought a stone for Moses to sit on and stood by him to lift up his hands whenever they became weary. That stone is Jesus, the Rock of Salvation; and the Holy Spirit, our own Hur and Aaron, the lifter up of our hands in the place of prayer. The Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit of God will intercede on your behalf in the mighty name of Jesus.

THE ROCK AND THE SPIRIT

In the place of prayer, we need the help of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. "Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us" (Rom 8:34). To prevail in the place of prayer, we must mortify the deeds of the flesh for the spirit to have its ways. The Holy Spirit connects with our spirit to direct and help us to pray according to the will of God. Romans 8:27 tells us: "And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." To prevail over the problems and challenges of life, we must raise up our hands and make them steady with the help of the Holy Spirit. The steady hands of Moses, lifted up to heaven as he sat on the stone led to a resounding victory for Israel. "And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword" (Exo 17:13). You will prevail over that persistent challenge in your life and erase it completely and permanently with the help of the Holy Spirit in Jesus name.

PRAYER:

Father, strengthen my feeble knees, help me to prevail in the place of prayer in Jesus name.

CONFESSION:

The gates of hell shall not prevail in my life. I will prevail and overcome with the blood of the Lamb.

God bless you. Shalom.
