Preparing For The Kingdom Series

Summary: We prepare for every major event in this world. It's time to prepare for Jesus second coming.
Romans 13:11-12 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber?, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So, let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
The Gospel Design
1. Matthew: The King/Messiah – Focused on what He said.
2. Mark: The Servant/Messiah – Focused on what He did.
3. Luke: Son of Man/Messiah – Focused on what He felt.
4. John: Son of God/Messiah – Focused on what He is.
John Preparing the Way
1. Luke 1 Born into the priesthood family of Zachariah.
2. V:1-3 Quotes Isaiah 40:3-5 as he fulfills it.
3. God uses humans to prepare the way for the Kingdom.
4. The key element for Kingdom readiness was repentance.
The Kingdom Confronts…

Shoes and the Kingdom of God
1. Exodus 3:5 Moses takes off shoes for the holy ground.
2. Deut. 8:4 Their shoes didn’t wear out for 40 years
3. Ruth 4:8 The symbol of Boaz contract to redeem or marry Ruth was a shoe.
4. Eph. 6:15 Tells us to cover our feet with re?adiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace.
Why Did Jesus Get Baptized?
1. He was without sin. Therefore, no baptism was needed.
2. He did it to literally step into our shoes. To take away the sins of humanity.
Matthew 3:16-17 His Baptism was such an important event. How can you tell when an event is important?
A Glimpse of Kingdom Truth
1. The Son: Stepping into humanities shoes.
2. The Spirit: Affirming the ultimate act of obedience.
3. The Father: Giving praise to His son.
4. The Trinity: Is revealed at that moment.
