Long ago, at many times and in many ways God speaks to us through His written words, urging us to repent of our sins and get ready for the coming back of His son Jesus Christ.

Today I bring my sermon title: " Prepare a way for the Lord"

From three scriptures reading: Isaiah 40:1-5, 9 -11 || 2 Peter 3:8-14 || Mark 1:1-8

Our first scripture from Isaiah 40: 1-5, 9-11 is a message of Comfort and Hope to the people of Israel who are in exile and suffering, it speaks loudly of God’s promise to pardon their iniquities and restore them to their homeland, most importantly this verse emphasized on the coming of the Lord, who will bring salvation and redemption.

If you hear me today or read this sermon, I want you to know that God’s mercy and compassion are made available to you to turn away from your evils deeds and find light in your life. This is a call to prepare for the Lord’s coming, both physically and spiritually

Our second scripture from 2 Peter 3:8-14: “But do not forget this one thing dear friends: With the Lord a day is like thousands years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.

This passage is a reminder that God’s timing is not the same as ours, and that He is patient with humanity, desiring that all people come to repentance. However the passage also warns that the day of the Lord will come suddenly and unexpectedly, bringing destruction and judgment.

Finally, this text encourages believers to live Holy and Godly lives, looking forward to the day of God and speeding its coming.

Our third scripture Mark 1:1-8: speaks of John the Baptist‘s ministry, who prepares the way for Jesus Christ by calling people to repentance and baptizing them in the Jordan River.

John’s baptism is also a fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, specifically Isaiah 40:3 which speaks of a voice crying out in the wilderness, preparing the way for the Lord.

What does it mean to prepare a way for the Lord?

For John the Baptist, prepare a way for the Lord meant calling people to repentance, baptizing them and preparing them for the coming of Jesus Christ. It also meant to create awareness of the arrival of the Messiah, who would bring salvation and redemption.

This phrase ' prepare a way of the Lord'' suggests making a path straight, which means aligning our lives with God’s plan and seeking to follow His guidance.

Church ! as we reflect on the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ , It’s absolutely important to seek repentance and forgiveness of sins.

Let's get ready for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ! I say get ready!

stay blessed !
