Preaching The Cross

1. We Preach The Cross (v18)

a. 1 Corinthians 2:2 “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”

i. The only message we have / we preach

ii. No philosophy

b. (v18) “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

i. “Foolish” = “Foolish Talk”

ii. Not relevant to their lives

2. Our Preaching has nothing to do with the “wisdom” of the World (v19-21)

a. Isaiah 29:14 “Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.”

b. (v19) God does not want to be found by man’s wisdom

c. (v21) You can not find God by study or education

3. Not the way you expect (v22-23)

a. People tend to build there own terms on which they want God to meet them

i. He does it His way – Thru Anointed preaching!

b. Some may stumble and some may laugh BUT some will be SAVED!

4. The Reason For God’s Way (v29)

a. So that no man can glory in himself

5. All You Need Is In Christ (v30)
