Summary: The fear of life.
Question: What are your fears?
Fear and discouragement go with the territory in any kind of ministry. The only antidote is a constant awareness of the presence of the Lord.
Therefore; Joshua Lead: Possessing the Promise:
3. He understood God’s Presence to Guide. Vs. 9-11
For forty years the Joshua experience God gigantic visual aid for guidance.
Exodus 13:21-22 “The LORD showed them the way; during the day he went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud, and during the night he was in a pillar of fire to give them light. In this way they could travel during the day or night. The pillar of cloud was always with them during the day, and the pillar of fire was always with them at night.” (NCV)
A parental presence instills confidence.
Hebrews 13:5 “I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.” (NCV)
It is time to stay ready so we don’t need to get ready.
For the Israelites then and for us now, possessing God’s promises means being willing to walk by faith and trust the Lord when the obstacles come.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.” (HCSB)
4. He understood God’s Plan for Granting. Vs. 12-18
Taking the land was not just for those who had lived there but for all twelve tribes.
Numbers 32:6 “But Moses asked the Gadites and Reubenites, “Should your brothers got to war while you stay here?” (HCSB)
They made a choice to have the Promise Land or indulge in the fruits of the world.
Question: What have you chosen?
They would stand with their brothers and enter the land and not return until the conquest was complete.
Sometimes God may take us out of our comfort zones and lead us to fight alongside our Christian brothers.
Joshua 1:18 “Only be strong and courageous!” (NIV)
