Matthew 27:24 (King James Version)
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
Two qualifications of political people that we don't want to vote:
A. Those looking for a profit.
"When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made,"
Prevail or "opheleo" in Greek meaning:
1. to be useful
2. to benefit
3. advantage, better, profit
The 3 negative qualifications that you're not voting for this person namely:
1. those who want to use people, or it will be useful to them
2. those who want benefit
3. those who want to take advantage of the people, to better themselves, to profit.
There are many liars out there when the 2016 election is nearing, they will say sweet words that you like to hear, they are there to help you out, to better yourself, to improve the country's economy, etc. but in reverse, all they want are profit for themselves. Don't believe them.
WE CAN LEARN FROM FIVE POINTS OF PONTIUS PILATE AS A POLITICIAN:
1. Pontius Pilate is different from Queen Esther in character and attitude.
We learned that Pontius Pilate is different from Queen Esther. Queen Esther is in a high position to help the Jews, the people of GOD.
Mordecai knows the purpose of Queen Esther's high position: To save the Jews from Haman.
Esther 4:13-14 (Amplified Bible)
Then Mordecai told them to return this answer to Esther, Do not flatter yourself that you shall escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews.
For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance shall arise for the Jews from elsewhere, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows but that you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this and for this very occasion?
2. Pontius Pilate's morals and characters were already influenced by the Pharisees who are always seeking profit for themselves.
John 12:19 (King James Version)
The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.
John 12:19 (Amplified Bible)
Then the Pharisees said among themselves, You see how futile your efforts are and how you accomplish nothing. See! The whole world is running after Him!
ILLUSTRATION: I once met a venture capitalist who wants to support a politician frient that put up millions of money just to learn his politician friend never "won" any position in the senate. So he turned it into a loan for his politician friend that he plans to help him out as long as there is profit for himself.
Yes there are politician that are victims of millionaires trying to get a profit in this political "business" called "election", and they are hard pressed, pressured to run because they are supported financially, but when they win, it's payback time for them to give V.I.P. treatment to these people, thus, they lose their primary purpose of being voted, that is to help people of the country not just one man.
3. Pontius Pilate is similar to an unbeliever who wants to get rich. He will do it even if he loses his own soul. Because the author of life is in front of him, that is the LORD JESUS CHRIST but instead he chose Barabbas.
Luke 9:25 (Amplified Bible)
For what does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and ruins or forfeits (loses) himself?
Mark 8:36 (Amplified Bible)
